i guess its cool the sprites are handdrawn, but the outcome is mediocre and obviously cant compare with known franchises so why bother? but the sticker is that it straight up uses assets from other games like fei long’s arms and what not.

wondering, if hip-hop can use samples from other songs, whats the problem with this game using sprites from different games and re-purposing them?
Music companies get the clearance to do that from the original artists or whoever still holds the properties copyrights. And also credit them accordingly in music production/liner notes. These guys obviously are not giving credit to what they are using, because they are doing it without permission.
Capcom could cease and desist/sue shut it down, while maybe a broke SNK won’t really have the time and resources to pursue it. Wouldn’t really be worth it.
I know it’s based off The Ring, but it’s obvious they used that sprite from Guilty Gear as a base.
Interested to see how the characters will look when redrawn and all match the same style, although my expectations aren’t too high for this game really.
There’s really no problem with using Mugen, since it’s a decent engine. They might run into problems adding features to it later (ie netplay), but otherwise it’s a competent engine that you can use to make a good game.
What IS a problem is that most of these use sprites from other companies as a base. They have to have 100% original drawings, period.
Every time I see stolen hitsparks and explosions in that trailer I cringe a little. You don’t want to advertise with art assets that are half-stolen/half-edited from other peoples’ work.
Other than that game looks cool. Wish them all the best. New HD art/all original assets would help this game’s case a lot.
I can play this exact same game right now with Mugen…
For free…
With my own lifebars, music and stages…
Early access, with mods.
A quick update;
Team Aiduzzi didn’t meet their funding goal for Rotten Core (only $1,754 has been raised). So, I guess this means that the game is “rip in peace” now?
A fighting game in which most sprites, effects, etc. are being ripped off from other fighters?
LOL, how original.
