Sad news. I don’t think I can go this weekend I just don’t have enough funds right now. Student loans are always the MOST fun you can have. Everyone take note. I’ll still be there Thursday to help people practice and whatnot probably. Just super lame I can’t go…
That sucks…
Hey guys. GG tonight for all games ran’d. I’ll keep working on my KoF hit confirms and using the correct versions of moves. You guys be sure to tear it up at Civil War. Keep me posted with what is going on. Can’t wait to watch you guys in top 8’s!
Lots of sick matches in this. I assume you’ve all been to this site before?

GG’s tonight, glad to see JP made it out, bummed that he can’t make CW though. Greg, you gotta stop getting so salty man, its bad for your health. Go home and be a family man.
I’ve been going there off and on for about 6 years now. It’s a really good site.
P.S. Some Climax changes from SNK Playmore:
Shen
- Shen will no longer receive a counter hit penalty when he’s hit during his Far C.
- Shen will gain some power meter when he bounces off anything stronger than an EX projectile with his Danken.(Projectile parry)
Ralf
- Fixed issue where Ralf and Raiden’s positions will change and command has be input in reverse when doing Bareback Vulcan (DM) > MAX Cancel >NEOMAX.
Saiki
- Fixed Normal throw so that it no longer raises the opponent’s meters.
Benimaru
- Fixed issue where doing cl.D>HD bypass will make the characters switch position when the opponent is facing back.
Billy
- Took out invincibility on HD bypass.
Raiden - Changed damage on short hop & hyper hop C from 72 to 70.
Flame Iori
- Fixed issue where MAX canceling too late from normal Maiden Masher wouldn’t target lock the NEOMAX.
- Changed input frames for canceling from Maiden Masher.
- Fixed issue where repeatedly blocking low would display his standing block for a split moment.
Hwa
** - Changed cr.B so that it can be HD bypassed. **
Greg, HWA BUFFS LOL!
Also: The top player from Singapore (Skye aka Justius) was at MLG and surprised a lot of people. Here is his interview http://www.mmcafe.com/kof13-skye-interview.html he also shows his own version of the KOF13 tiers and an explanation of the top 5 and bottom 5 characters in his opinion. Definitely worth a read and a view at his match vs Mr KOF (theres a link).
Leake here. Yo umm I’ve been sittin on this for a while now but we oughta get some (cental) VA gamers together. I love going to The End, but I feel like if we could get a consistent tourney scene going we would have at least a few new faces to show every week. All in all, all I’m saying is that I’d love to see VA’s scene grow and that if we could get even a few more faces to show up to every event we have; that would be a shining succes community wise.
In the long run I’d like to see something along half the lines of CV or some other Evo sponsored event happening withing miles of our watchful eye but I feel that that’s all up to our recruiting skills/abilities. dotdotdot
TL;DR I love the VA fighting game scene so far and I feel we coudl be a badass force to be reckoned with if only we had the crowd and monetary values present ( MY FIGHT MONEYYYY). I think we should try to get a good tourney lets all be friends tourney going soon and that we YEAH. PEACE. LOVE… AND REKKAS PEACE OUT YALL.
anyways. sorry cya not sorry. see you space cowboy.
EDIT: GET AT ME
The scene was quite a bit healthier before MvC3 was released because we all played the same game and was able to run ranbats. Too many games now and the scene is split (can’t play them all) so ranbats won’t be a thing we can do unless we could get some more people involved. If we connected with Richmond, then we’d have a good group of people to play with, but no one wants to make that drive. It’s not a bad drive every now and then, but it’s too expensive to go weekly. I imagine UVA/Charlottesville/JMU/Harrisonburg has some untapped players that just have no knowledge of the scene or a method of transport. Hard to advertise though. You think Craigslist.org would be a good place to advertise? I think we could avoid problems as long as we don’t mention money.
Got to watch a bit of the Civil War stream. Fun fact: when MK9 grand finals finished and Spooky said KOF was up next, viewers dropped. Sad times.
I wouldn’t want MK fans to watch KoF anyway. The awesomeness of the game would make their head asplode.
I’m from central VA (Lynchburg). CW was great, Saw some familiar faces there and also learned a lot about myself as a player. Got blown up by zero lol but I will get better. Almost lost my voice watching marlinpie do that shake and bake swag combo with doom.
Lots of positive posts going on in here, I like seeing that. I do hope that we could get more new faces to come but for me traveling to far aboard on a weekly basis is really out of the question. Mainly because of my infant son but I will continue to try to make it out to tourneys as much as I can and will also be at the end for most every casual game night, even if I’m falling over tired.
Manny the reason why I get salty is because I wish to get better and not lose. I didn’t get somewhat good at SF4 because I was happy about losing. Strictly in a I hate losing sense but happy if I learned something about the game through said loss.
Also I’m very disappointed in my own performance at CW and the last 2 tournaments I’ve played in and so I will be actively trying to go into the lab in both games I play and try to establish more methods of destruction. Of course majority of my time will go to KoF because it is a newer game which alot of people have yet to figure everything out. SF4 I’ll just do combo and situation practice that I normally did before but had stopped since KoF and my boy came out.
P.S. Manny your style is random.
It is a hassle to travel but is was a great benefit and experience. Also if you guys still gather at end I’m down to come. Mainly a marvel player but I dabbled in SFxT so I’m not completely free lol and would also like to learn KOF.
Yup. I said it.
We all would like to get more people to come out to the end, but tbh nobody has stepped up to the plate and proposed to actually DO something about it. We ALL need to make an effort to spread the awareness of our community. Let’s start throwing some ideas out there.
I for one propose posting/handing out flyers at the local colleges/universities that are nearby. Gameshops are also a good choice and asking a local video game shop might not hurt either.
Mole, if you truly believe my style is random then I’ve done my job well.
We gather at the End every Thursday evening around 6pm. There are some Marvel players, but most of them are focusing on the new hotness that is Skullgirls. Us KoF players will gladly help anyone get familiar with the fundamentals, but it’s a game you can’t play without practicing. SFxT won’t get much playtime. It’s better everyone stays free in that game.
Flyers are a great idea on paper (ha ha), but the reality is, most college students are busy/lazy/disinterested or lack transport. A more cost and time efficient method would need to be available to really have a chance in improving the community greatly. However, if someone has a good deal of time and money on their hands, I say go for it. Though I know some universities do not allow unapproved advertising and it typically has to be affiliated with the school. So good luck.
Also, random in KoF SHOULD get blown up (cause it’s a great game), but we all suck.
GGs at Civil War guys, had a lot of fun. It might sound strange, but I actually wish I got more casuals in with all of you (greg, manny, alex). You guys have certainly improved and I almost wanted to keep playing KoF until I was sick of it, but I still had to play in the late night 3s tourney. I usually make a trip out to Richmond to see family once a month, so maybe I’ll try to work it out so I can come out to your thursday gatherings sometime. Always a learning experience with KoF right now, so keep playing and hopefully I will see you guys more often!
GGs in KoF dudes. Manny I wish I had played you some before our tournament match, maybe I would’ve gotten slightly less destroyed by Clark :razzy: and Mole, loved the Shen mirrors. Alex we didn’t actually get to play each other :shake:
Yeah. Next time I’ll stick around for casuals all night. I made plans to hang with Paul and he didn’t want to drag his lazy ass to the venue to play.
I’m in talks with Timberwood Grill to run a Bar Fight type of event. To do this we’d need a solid turnout. I’ll be figuring out more details in the mean time. Just wanted to let you guys know I’m trying to do more.
That’s pretty cool, but I wonder what they’re expectations are. Would we be able to have near/on the weekend?
