So,
There are meeps actually playing xTekken, unlike VF5.
I guess I’m gonna stick with this for awhile, get a feel for the changes.
Proto’ing Poison/Jack-X.
We’ll see…entering this very cautiously.
 Wasim, you should really just play what you want to.
If you require lots of other people to actually be playing the game you are, you’re probably not going to be able to settle down and get really good at something (if that’s your goal). You’ll more or less be hopping around from game to game just playing the seasonal stuff. Look at Oscar and Akil–NOBODY plays Marvel or AE anymore but they are still all about it and they enjoy it. Sim plays KoF and that’s his jam. You don’t HAVE to only play one game, but it seems like you’re not satisfied with games that you actually like because nobody else plays. If you really like VF5 (and it seems like you do, I don’t know), then you should play it.
I mean, we both played BlazBlue. That should have taught us both that if you really love a game, you gotta play it even if there’s nobody else around.
Of course, this sounds like I’m suggesting you should play by yourself in a dark corner.
…
Time for some bacon and eggs.
Wasim accept my friend invite on PSN so we can VF sometime.
We can also get dirty and play DOA.
I finally beat DOA5’s story mode last night… man, never again.
And I still need 9 more titles to unlock Pai. BS.
The problem for me right now is Blazblue is the only game I really want to play. However, the new version introduces so many changes that all I can do is watch the videos and read the news. Yeah, I can sit and keep grinding CSex, but Ill probably be the only one and the changes will be so thorough that the gain is questionable.
I dropped Tekken cuz it wasn’t fun for me anymore and I decided I really wanted to focus on a game I enjoyed, and second to Blaz, was VF5. So I hit that, watched the tutorials, read the wiki, had a great time, until I tried getting matches online. Sometimes I sat there for 45 minutes with no one on.
Gary and Matt are willing to play, but its hard balancing schedules, and at best it’s inconsistent.
So, what it comes down to is, I’m ready to drop all my OCD ‘play every game’ bullshit to sit down and really learn something thoroughly, but the games I do want to learn are either in flux or kind of dead.
If xTekken is different enough, and maintains even a minimally consistent player base. I can grind that game til Blaz comes out. I’m just looking for a game I can enjoy, has a minimum amount of support, and some kind of depth.
If xTekken isn’t that game, then I guess the alternative is to grind VF5 and see where it goes.
C’est la vie.
I so wish I could do this, and I’m probably worse off than you because it’s not just the new shit I am playing, but ALL the old shit too.
Why aren’t we playing blazblue all the time? I’ve only played it a bit with Yannick mostly, but I really enjoyed what I’ve seen of it, and I’d love to sit down and work out whether I love Tsubaki or Lamda-11 more in some games against you, dude. If only you had said so, we could have been playing BB the entire time every time I show up like an hour early to your place!
 Oh man.
My breakfast skills are pretty much the pinnacle of breakfasting.
This is incredible.
What did you make?
Also: Ugh, every once in a while I forget that the SRK outside of this thread is filled with absolutely terrible people who have nothing but absolutely terrible opinions. I made the mistake of venturing into a Feminism thread and now they’re convinced I’m a woman because I pointed out that feminism is a pretty okay thing and if you think that woman are incapable of actively pursuing men once they get older than 15 there’s probably something wrong with you.
Only because I’m stubborn and cheap. “P4A for $20? Eh, could go down to $15”.
Nah, I like Marvel as long as I fully understand and agree the stupidity of it all. Because hey, I can do those stupid things too!
I tolerate AE because for the most part, I lose due to my own stupidity/lack of skills, not because I can’t block 5 Zero mixups in a row.
Oh man, is it finally time for a blazblue resurgence? Gotta get those hirentotsu loops down.
Wasim, you should go with Tsubaki. Not that I’m biased at all, but she is looking way improved once CP comes around. Also: Izayoi. Flash-stepping, spear-wielding, semirobotic justice.
Does new BB have a release date? I’m kinda on hold for fighters after taking to PA and these Playdek games. I too am mourning the loss of VF5.
TTT2 is still enjoyable due to the online quality and the flash, and I didn’t totally get bored of practicing the various technical bits but that became a slight chore.
Wanna give post-patch Cross a chance but the link-heavy playstyle got a bit tired after years of SF4 so I’m looking for a hook here.
I dislike links too, but I didn’t get that into SF to get sick of 'em.
Also, I’ve always enjoyed 2 things from xTekken:
I like its over-saturated, bright arcade-y colors. So, it’s enjoyable for me to look at.
It’s got a shit-ton of friction. The hits feel heavy. The characters feel like they have weight.
My only problem with it was the broken to shit mechanics. If those have been fixed truly, then I can commit to it til Blaz or +R.
Also been putting time into that Raiden Fighters Aces you gave me and Death Smiles. Will spend tonight on Ascension and this. If we can get some real time Ascension going with Greg, perhaps run a webcam setup too to break it down.
You gotta just play whatever game you want. I still play DoA and ill never stop cuz watching Lei Fang bicycle kicking someone with high heels never gets old lol.
Ill be giving sfxt a fair shake. And I still play marvel. Will likely enter marvel and tekken at dust bowl.
As far as I can tell, BB:CP doesn’t even have a console release date in Japan, let alone a date for when it might come over here. For better or worse, CSEX is where it’s at for Blaz Blue for the foreseeable future.
I’m still not a huge fan of links, but every once in a while I load up AE and try to get into it again; I get a little further each time, but I haven’t done anything of note in it. I’m helped by the fact that there are still a bunch of games I haven’t gotten around to trying yet; if I get bored of Persona and Tekken and I feel like something new, I could get a cheap copy of Marvel and try that for a while. I still need to get a copy of KoF and try that for a while, too. Being able to bounce around helps maintain my interest in the hobby even when I’m a little tired of my main games.
Just tried out Ascension…it’s pretty cool.
A less random PA. I like the void mechanic.
Yo Dan when we gonna throw down in DOA?
I’ve been learning the way of the flamingo/bending stance.
You play SHMUPs/bullet hell too?
I used to emulate Giga Wing , I think, on MAME, and try to recreate full arcade experience by turning the monitor on it’s side. Works pretty well.
My friend lent me a copy of Ikaruga for Gamecube, never got around to finishing it (due to crappy Gamecube controllers)
I’ll probably just emulate it and play it with my arcade stick.
Speaking of which…

Craziest thing I’v seen. It’s like bullet hell ballet!
btw to all you iPad owners (far as I know that being Gary and Dan):
Magic 2013 is fucking slick as hell.
Very well-made. The game is free, but there is a 10.00 dollar IAP that nets you everything.
That still makes it 10.00 dollars less than what’s being offered on Steam, and I actually think it might have more features than what’s on Steam too.
