4:3 reduces lag and makes the screen less jumpy in general. Speed 4 is I dunno, lol.
I’m not starting this argument in this thread. But that jumpiness hasn’t been tested - my guess is that it’s less (relative to vertical screen size) than regular 4:3 ST. And rendering resolution would not introduce lag, unless the TV scales the output.
This game is going to die if people don’t standardize their playing format. Speed 4 is WTF…
I will most likely be late due to playing at a wedding in indinola. I vote $5 for BB and GG just cause i’m poor.
We’re not on HD TVs, we’re using old CRTs so widescreen would be pretty awkward. If we had widescreen TVs then it’d be a bit more senseable. Speed 4 is what was used at SB also, quite a few of us kept switching between the two and it was unanimous 4 felt better, but like I posted a while back if there’s even one person who prefers 3 then to speak up and not a one person did until now. I can switch it back to 3 no problem.

Charlie when are we going to start the petition for Tournaments on 360? This PS3 madness needs to stop. I swear the availability of 360s amongst fighting gamers is 3 to 1 for 360, Humbag, Flexo (Aegis Neglector) and I are all confirmed in 360 preference. Don’t even get me started on HDR on PS3. If Sirlin, the guy who helped make the game insists it’s crap I think that’s a pretty substantial argument. Anyway no fault against you guys for doing it since it is the current standard. I’ll see what I can do, maybe I can convince Pete to loan me his or go on a bender and purchase one.
If there’s not a thread or petition for 360s at EVO I will gladly start one. If the data supports it and EVO switches the rest will follow.
As far as Evo goes Mr Wizard himself said quite a few times that he’d go to 360 if someone donates him as many as they’d need but since they already had PS3’s that’s what it was ran on. It’s funny you bring that up though, we were just talking about this (kind of) in the Iowa thread. We all play on 360 here also but I was looking out for the out of towners, I know MN, Omaha and MO play on PS3 and they far outnumber us here in Des Moines so I’m just catering to the majority instead of the few.
HDR on 360 though I do like as we saw some funky stuff going on at SB also, but with only a week and a half away it’s too late to jump ships as far as consoles go.
Oh and speaking of James and Mike you need to convince them to come!
I might be able to have a guy bring his ps3 but he neither has hdr or sf4 (he has it on 360 though…) so i don’t know how much good it would do. Might help for BB I suppose

Did you mean to say play on PS3? I’m not sure about Omaha and MO, but the MN crew usually plays on PS3 by default. Some people use 360, but our tourneys are run on PS3.
Has anyone found a good way to use non-360 controllers on X360? If not, then the fact that you can on PS3 is a pretty good reason to go with PS3 over X360.

I just found out I will be able to bring my TV. I will also be bringing a power strip for anybody else setup near me to use, also I will be bringing my Wii with TvC+Brawl if anybody running that needs another setup, or even melee if anybody wants me to bring my copy+memory card. There is also a very high chance I will be able to borrow a camera and tripod and record a few side games, some shots of the venue and especially the mystery tourney.

The PS3 d-pad is also arguably better than the 360 d-pad for pad players.

Fair enough on the TVs. Either way, we need to make sure we are standardizing our formats. I think we are going to run Speed 3 for this season’s RanBats at DENJIN. I’ll make sure after we run the tournament that we try out both speeds and see what people think.
As for coming out there, if I could I would. I got a new job and I’m working on a project that’s about to ship. Getting time off is next to impossible right now. I probably won’t even be able to travel home for the holidays… Gotta love game development. :looney:
