The action is a lot better than the old fox series. Anyone else notice Kingpin has the same VA as Spawn from the old HBO series?
Two of you have said Aunt May is hot. Snap. The end is near.
LOL at Peter having to call aunt May while fighting super criminals. Anyone recognize Peter’s ringtone? Cute. :lovin:
Kingpin may appear in the series but the voice you heard was that of Big Man, voiced by Keith Dave. He also played Goliath on Gargoyles, which is pretty interesting when you consider that Greg Weisman worked on that and is working on this show. Also worth noting that the Big Man’s secret ID made an appearance in the first ep. :wgrin:
He’s also the voice of teh Arbiter in Halo 3… this guy gets around alot. I take it they’re basing the Kingpin from the Daredevil movie. sooo bad guys so far:
Kingpin
Vulture
Lizard
Electro
Venom
Doc ock
any chance of kraven? too soon im guessing.
Wasn’t really feeling it.
I’ll pretend the first TWO eps were pilots.
And that this show will eventually be as awesome as The Venture Bros., which also had a shitty pilot.
And that the Fox version never existed.
And…
truth.
this looks like pure shit. i grew up reading spider man, and other marvel comics, and all i have to say is that i am sick and tired of this low quality, teenager looking, emo-hero garbage these days. yea we know super heroes have emotional issues as well, but do they have to look like pussies?

vs.

spider-man wasnt super jacked as a teen nor did he have super detail in the early version…and what comic have u been reading spidey has always been an emo bitch emotional wreck.
I just noticed something: JJJ is the only character with normal eyes. And the Osborn kid sounds like Beast Boy.
my bad, i didn’t realize spidey was actually still a teen in this new cartoon, but still… why? i just personally wish they would stop with the teenager spin on super heroes, and give us a series with high quality animation, good action, suspense, and a good amount of THIS :woot:.
and yea spider-man has always been emo, but at least the darker, more mature atmosphere of the comics made it seem justifiable. i just watched a bit of this new cartoon, and im still not feelin it. maybe im just too far removed from the target audience .
You want a good amount of 403 forbidden?
Oh and you seem to forget that Spidey was the quintessential teen super-hero, so it doesn’t surprise me to see a toon based on his early teen days since that’s how he started.
I’ll say that this spidey design is my personal favorite out of all spidermen shows/movies. I’ll probably buy a spidey action figure just for the heck of it
Man, this show is LOADED with easter eggs. There’s homage to the cover of Amazing Fantasy #15 in the intro. You’ve got the Gargoyle statues. Oh and the train and web-slinging bits are very similar to Spider-Man 2. :lovin:
Kudos to the writers making me like Gwen. The only version of Gwen I like was Ultimate Gwen. This one, while a bit nerdy I’m digging. Cheers! :woot:
Anyone catch the serum Dr. Connors was using on himself got jolted by Electro in the lab? Dun dun duuuuuuuun!!
Considering Ultimate Spiderman outsells 616 Spiderman, Marvel would like to bank more on that cash. Plus, it’s riding off the coat tails of the Spidey movies. Of course we’re gonna get teenage Spidey. It was never fleshed out in the movies.
Well the preview for next week already showed that he faces the Lizard.
Show was alright, did not like the whole eye thing but other than that it was pretty cool. I still got a soft spot for the 90’s version. Nostalgia nigga.
cool, makes sense. never got around to seeing the movies unfortunately.
WHAAAA?? Cliffhanger?:looney:
I can’t wait to see the other cliffhangers they do. I can imagine the Venom suit:
-Peter is on date with MJ or Gwen
-Villian runs rampant
-Spidey enterscue lame ass joke cuz only the comics are funny:mad:
-Villians gets PWned; Spidey goes back to date
-cue Meteor shower
-Peter and girl goes home. Show ends with a black rock landing near Peter’s house.
Dun Dun DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNN! Cliffhanger?!
Never got around to it?
Ok I can understand missing out on indie flicks (like No Country For Old Men) or smaller budget movie spectaculars like Hellboy or a historical epics like Gangs of New York (all three of which I missed in theaters). So I understand missing some movies…
BUT SPIDERMAN? WTF DUDE! What have you been doing? You have to actively avoid this franchise. It’s one of the top ten summer movie franchises and you missed all three of them? Whoa.
Anyway. You guys really need to let shit go. I’m tired of SRKers and people in general going “Eh, it’s not as good as the old show.” Like wtf? Does everything have to be the way you remember it? God. If things never change it gets stagnant and we find ourselves reading comics about Peter Parker and Mary Jane making deals with Mephisto to save an old broad’s life. Seriously…
are they gonna have mj…seems their gonna go old school on this show.
STOP REMINDING ME
im all for change, but if its a change in a direction that doesn’t appeal to me… then thats that. for example: batman forever = no… batman begins = yes. two movies taking the original burton batman films i loved in completely different directions… i just preferred the latter. the original spiderman cartoon wasn’t all that to begin with anyways, but this teen titans style is just shitty imo (art direction/animation wise).
and yea ive never seen the spiderman movies : ( … i just never felt inclined to watch them for some reason (might have something to do with my dislike for kirsten dunst). i DID watch all 3 x-men movies in theaters though - and they sucked for the most part, but had some worthy moments (nightcrawler!). the spiderman movies are probably better than the x-men ones, so i will watch em eventually.
i usually just download the big hyped up blockbusters after they come out if they get really good reviews, and stick to watching sure classics and indie flicks that catch my interest in theaters on release.
