Goblin not what I was expecting as far as the voice. I thought Blum would do a more Spike-Spiegel-sounding voice, like the one he did for the henchman in the same episode…
I do like that line about how he left the bomb behind, and the guests at the party were going to “paint the town red. …or at least the ballroom.”
Nice.
And Flash Thompson dancing > most things.
Did anyone else catch the line from Tombstone a bout "thats what adults call irony? It would make sense that he’d know Spidey is still a kid because of how he acts.
I just watched the episode again. Man, the looks on their faces when Peter walked in with MJ was PRICELESS!! Glory said Peter cleans up and Liz nodded in agreement like she wanted to jump on Peter. Great stuff. Sally was acting like even more of a stuck up broad than usual. Rand(y) deserves better. Speaking of Rand, anyone else think he looked like a pimp?
The number on the Gobulin formula Harry drunk read 994, not 1964 like I thought 994 is a reference to Gargoyles.
Again, the Goblin rocked. He seems to have a sort of Joker sense of humor to him. Very nice touch.
Next week we have a new episode, “Reaction.” The doctor is officially IN!!: http://kidswb.com/home
I love damn near every character voiced by Cree Summers but Glory is a two faced bitch. Old girl dumps Kong over him being a dick to Harry but fucks over Harry at the dance. Girl is popular suburban bitch acting enlighten and shit.
But really great episode. Has to be the best Spderman vs. Green Goblin fight I have seen outside of some of the better comics. And I like how Tombstone was protrayed as to gangsta to let anything fuck his cool. Got to love how the show has the done in one enemy encounters but carries strings from previous episodes into the next ones.
Yeah, the stopping the truck thing was obviously pull from the movie but I sort of was on how it was ANOTHER Spidey vs. thugs in car start to the episode. The teen romance hexagon(?) subplot is hilarious.
Doc Ock as is the case with nearly every villian so far was a good fight. I sort of felt sorry for him when the machine went off and after his “transformation” he was down right vicious.
The Harry/Norman/Green Goblin arc is still going strong with a lot of evidence pointing toward Harry but that scene with Norman based on just looks definately casts doubts that it might be that clear cut.
But I am sort of surprised that they are running with Harry only being good because of his drug addiction. With all the drama in baseball the fact that they are running so close to home in a Saturday morning cartoon is ballsy.
Peter’s social interactions rock as always. We got classic party girl MJ. Poor Peter. Thought he and MJ had something when she friend zoned him. If Peter takes this like he did in the comics, he’ll more than likely be put off by MJ’s behavior and look to other girls or Gwen.
Man, Doc Ock was a BEAST!! He was slapping Spidey around like a rag doll.
Anyone find that bit where Spidey saved that nerd & babe in the beginning and got them together in that web hilarious? “You can thank me later, dude.”
Wow that episode really put a new but delightful spin on the Green Juice and Harry Osborn dilemma. IMy favorite scene was when Spidey was running on the falling debris after the explosion, it reminded me of the Sonic CD Intro. SONIC BOOM!
Can someone cap that cool scene where Harry is holding the vial and you see the Goblin’s visage through the green transparency?
Wow, that’s seriously like the nicest looking Mary Jane they’ve ever drawn. She actually looks like she’s the same age as the rest of them instead of like a middle-aged pedophile (like the comics/OG Spidey cartoon).
My local CW station sarts cartoons late because they show the news in the morning; it’s actually kind of smart, since instead of going head-to-head with the fox cartoons etc you can just switch when they’re over. The new ep is just starting now.
I never noticed in the rerun, the old Green Goblin episode with the party, when the big hidden bomb exploded, there was a face in the green smoke. Nice touch.
Funny enough, during the Black Cat cameo, she was carrying a bag full of loot.
Anyway, good episode. Agreeing with RH’s blog, I really liked the scene where Harry had a breakdown at the end.
I’m wishing they could be a bit more adult with the themes…show Norman Osborn being a worse dad for example. Or even just the bit where Tombstone got hit in the back…when you have a character like that who won’t be injured by something like that, it would have been nice if the scene had a little more drama instead of a simple no-sell. It’s like with robots- you can have them explode and everything, because they’re robots, and nobody cares.
Though obviously they’re gonna have problems with the censors with the show, so some edits are to be expected…
I also noticed that, as far as I’ve noticed, this is the only episode that didn’t end with the red Spider-Man symbol- it ended with the black goo instead.
And that was an excellent death trap. That whole refinery/iron forge/whatever scene was good.
You guys catch Liz saying “You can web me up anytime, Petey”? Gwen looked like she wanted to smash MJ’s face into a flagpole for having her hands on Peter’s chest. Maybe that girl needs some valium.
Million, I must know. Aunt May. You think she’s hot? At the Super Hero Hype forums, one dude is calling her a AILF.
