Hey guys I have taken up a drug habit, so i was thinking about throwing a house tournament here, every day… there will be a 10 dollar venue fee (will take smack in trade). Your ten dollars will go to me letting you drink my water (but bring your own cup) and of course my drug habit. I don’t have any setups so you guys will have to bring those. but i was also thinking of running a 10 dollar tournament were half of the pot will also go to me… what do you guys think?
Fuck off. I don’t know you. You have absolutely zero right to talk shit to me.
To everyone else: good shit. Not a popular idea then? Even though I’d be hosting, providing setups, running the tourney, and using the money to actually build a cabinet where people can gather and play on. My house can actually host a good size tournament.
I actually had a conversation with Blackula about this awhile back when he was hosting at his apartment. He basically just wanted to cover costs. My advice was that people won’t pay unless they perceive it as a business. I wasn’t too far off.
Perhaps I’ll go out and purchase cabinets and what not first, so people actually see a value in it.
Well, if you do what blackula did, then i am sure no one would have an issue.
$5.00(venue) x 15(Participants) = $75.00
Food and drinks purchased by blackula = $160.00
Profit made by blackula. = -$85.00
I don’t think anyone is going to pay you 10 dollars to help you build a cab, people just don’t give a shit about that anymore and you know it. you may love the arcade and the feel of it, but you do know these youngins don’t give a damn right?
but hey that shit you held at mosses joint was fire, and i am sure it would draw a big crowd if you ever did one again… and even be able to charge a venue.
Well, I would like to break even, not come out 85 in the hole AND organize/run everything. Might as well run it at play N trade, pay a venue fee, and not ruin my house.
Arcade feel is where it’s at man. It’d also be a dedicated place to play.
Moose’s joint was awesome, and we did charge a 10$ venue. Too bad we still ended in the end b/c we had to pay 400$ for the broken projector.
