I feel like I used my brains and liver as a coffee filter. I’m thinking about Thor haggar or maybe Tron to replace storm on my team. I’ve been playing like gärbage lately.
I don’t really think it’s a character problem to be honest.
I think you should start to play matches with the express purpose of blocking shit and forcing/punishing mistakes. You kinda play w/ “the best defense is a good offense” strategy, and you get blown up when people figure that out. You’re picking characters with really good buttons, but sometimes it’s best to just not hit buttons.
You also don’t really change up your gameplay much based on your opponent. Wolverine has strings that can attack through tron and (easily) haggar. Use them to get that double xfactor combo and 2character kill. You also don’t snap in Phoenixes. To be honest, only like 4 people in RVA do, so it’s not a you thing.
Another thing I’ve noticed that you can work on is converting Wolverine’s air throws into combos consistently. Storm assist is finnicky with this, but completely doable.
Lastly, you need to watch how you spend your meter. Lots of random berserker slash->charge, Hail, and Hard Drives that can be saved for guaranteed combos. Part of the power of Wolvi/Sent is that you can use Berserker slash really well without having to go into berserker charge. Just have 1st drone be blocked, berserker slash, and you can hit confirm the 2nd two drones into a standard combo w/o having to use meter and (BONUS) actually gain meter from the combo.
You can always build off from what I like to call one of the most compatible and automatic teams out there, Wolvie/Dante/Akuma. Rushdown heaven, great DHC options, and each character can pretty much hold their own. The synergy is definitely there. Once you get comfortable with their play styles, find out who you enjoyed playing with the most on that team, and then experiment with other teams to see who gels best. Just my 2 cents.
The team ranbats sounds fun. Will there be Marvel teams at the monthly?
Pretty spot on. Except my list would start with:
S
LVL 3 XFC Dark Phoenix
A+
Wesker, Ammy, Magneto, Wolverine, Zero
A
She Hulk, Dante, Sentinel, Taskmaster, Dormamu, Storm etc.
Everything else I more or less agree with. I feel like even the ‘worst’ characters in the game can put up a good fight with a smart player using them though, so it’s not completely hopeless. (Let’s not consider LVL 3 XFC Dark Phoenix to validate this argument…) But yeah, makes me reevaluate my character choices. I’d like to learn Dante because he seems so open-ended and creative, plus white color Devil Trigger makes him look like Venom from GG. :razzy: Hmmm… I’m pretty sure I have too much fun with too many characters to commit to one team.
I think Billy made you overestimate she-hulk. I’d put her at the top of mid. She-Hulk + Tron is really good (sorta like Strider + Doom) but it only works with those two together. Separately, She-Hulk is the mvc3 version of a grappler and any grappler can get zoned out badly.
But yea, Dante is who you need to play with (DHC starter + overall good rush and decent zone) Dante/Taskmaster/(whoever is your last character nowadays. It seems to switch every 2 weeks)
Thanks, I definitely agree with this and most of it is bad habits I’m trying to break. Once I get into it they come out a lot less. Psn being down has really cut into my practice time.
Also, dumb question but which Dante hyper causes spin state to get the DHC trick? Million Dollars? Usually it pushes people to the other side of the screen and I thought it was only the second to last shot that causes spin? Do all of the bullets cause spin? I never really paid attention. I’m guessing so…
PSN being down has almost been like making lemonade out of lemons for me because I have done nothing but practice execution and not picked up more bad habit tactics that only work online.
Yeah you either end the combo with a jump canceled grappling hook off of the down guns into forward C or end the combo with either QCF A or QCF C the mash S which cause Dante to spin on his sword. Withe The grappling hook has to be canceled into Devil Trigger. The sword spin timing is a little tight because you can’t cancel it and you have a short time to input Devil Trigger after its over
PS3 just got a new system update that strengthens the security and prepares itself for the PSN restoration. Online multiplayer is getting turned on region by region, so we can expect it to hit us soon.
In other news, I just picked up BBCS today and I have to say, this game is a huge execution overhaul from MvC3 and SSFIV IMO. The engine is so fun, yet complex. I’m going in with Jin at the moment. I can already tell I’m going to be spending a crap load of time with this game.
So who exactly plays this game in RVA? I know Matt mentioned before that he plays it. Hope you guys can show me the ropes.
