DeRezz, I’m assuming you’re the spider-man player? I didn’t catch your name, but good shit. You definitely have a solid base of execution that not many players start out with. Coupled with some know how, matchup experience, and fundamentals, I can see you improving to be a real good player.
Everyone who’s come out and played w/ us often has leveled up their game tremendously in a short time.
Also: re ranbats. I have an idea.
I think “challenging” people for ranbat points would be pretty fun. Two people could each wager as many ranbat points as they had in a 3 of 5 match. These could be done at the Tues/Thursday gatherings at strange matter.
if thats done, id like to see a half point given out for participating, or a full point and doubling the rest.

I think River City Ranked Matches are a great Idea. It would give people a chance to gain points even if they can’t make it out to every Ranbat. I have no idea what the best format would be for something like that. It sounds like Robin is suggesting a All-in type format similar to what would occur in poker where you can only lose what the other player can match.

As someone that plays wesker/phoenix and X… I’m probably better than that guy, but he gets way lucky when he phoenix actually got snapped in.
I don’t think I saw him kill one person with wesker or chun li. He wouldn’t get 4th here.
Just saw the archive of the last Xanadu and read the DMV thread. If you haven’t read it yet, go do it now! Also, I’m pretty sure that all the combos I saw him do (if you can call abc,abcs a combo and insert mash legs or cr.a when necessary), people were doing before the game even was released. Like Robin said, it would have to be the most skewed bracket ever for him to get top 3 here. It’s one thing to win with phoenix but it’s another to think you’re the shit when you never won a match without your phoenix seeing play.
I’m not saying he didn’t beat the best. Playing phoenix long term doesn’t make you better if you constantly have to rely on 5 bars to win. I can point to at least 5 points during the stream where all he did was teleport and crouch a 5 times when dark phoenix came out. But, he still won so GS to him but I’d like to see him win with a different anchor (it’s really hard to respect a phoenix player when they always lose there first 2 characters).
True. I honestly don’t respect anything phoenix does. You just respect players probably for their skill with the other characters or in other games. Also, I think it would be a bad move for the community if you ban her though. Having said that, you’re right with patching not being an option. Unless it’s physically game breaking and unavoidable, I disagree with patching all together. When you release a game, you expect to to be as competitive as possible and I’m fine with small glitches or whatever. There is no way though that overlapping command normals and throws, x-factor lvl 3, magic pixel and the damage output among other things should have passed the testing phase.
