CEO seems to have a perception that popularity and stream views is more important than fairness in competition. Florida doesn’t have any arcades and now it’s expected of players who have been looking forward to this major to just play AE for maybe 3 days and learn months worth of match-up knowledge? The perception seems to be: “Well the same top players would be in top 16 anyway.”
I’ve been practicing as much as I possibly could since the tournament was decided in Nov/Dec… and now they decide to switch to a game that I probably won’t even be able to play before the tournament?
I’m sure its fantastic for the players who frequent arcades… but when it comes to a major: Are all of your attendees arcade goers? I’m not because there aren’t any arcades around here and I work a lot. However I do put hours, weeks, months worth of time into perfecting my game in SSF4 at home. Now I’m just supposed to feel obligated to enter a tournament for a game I don’t know anything about?
Aren’t there a lot of people out there who practice on XBOX or PS3 for months and months just to rise through the ranks? There has to be a lot of people like me out there? From my perception CEO didn’t fully consider the fairness. They just want to be “flashier, bigger, and more popular”.
I don’t play SSF4 for a live stream. It’s my stress relief, my hobby, and my way to compete. I understand that these big events have a lot of money behind them… and thats what you have to consider at the end of the night… but I just wanted to compete in something big. Now I’m not able to. I hope no one in California or anyone else on that side of the nation has to feel as disappointed as I do.
I figure I’d post this here, considering how I’m sure it would fall on deaf ears for CEO and how much effort is also being put into Revelations.
PS. I still want to buy a t-shirt.
Edit: The purpose of this post wasn’t to cause any tension, its just one players perception of how choosing a 3-4 day old game will effect a player base that I happen to be a part of. It’s my feed-back for y’all. Apologies.

I dont see curaga’s post as an attack and i understand why he is voicing his frustration. I won’t speak for the man but in my opinion he was trying to convey his thoughts on how revelations will be handled. if he were to make a tl:dr post i’m pretty sure it would read
"Please don’t put in AE to go along with the hype train - consider the community you are inviting to this, then decide… kthxbai"

I, as a Ken player, would love to play SSF4: AE at Revelations. But I’m not sure how you and other Ryu/Cammy/E. Honda/Guile/Rose players will feel. It is a lot of money after all. It’d be cool to see Yun/Yang/E. Ryu/Oni in action though.

is there a schedule/ prizes for the other games like Black Ops and Madden? I found the one for all the fighting games, but I don’t see that much information on non-fighting games

I don’t think any of us mind the changes to our character for better or for worse, but moreso that some people only have 3 days to practice for a tournament rather than the 2 years they practice for a different game.
SSF4 is not the same as AE, not even close.
Doesn’t matter which version TL/Valle choose b/c I’ll play whatever.
Utah will try to represent as hard as we can despite what version is played.
I don’t speak for everyone in Utah when I say this but I’m all about the spectating. I’m old and I know I’ll never place top 8 at one of these majors however I come to experience the competition.
I’ve seen enough of what Super has to offer. I want to see more hype which to means seeing Arcade Edition.

The whole “2 days to practice” thing for those without AE in local arcades… yeah it sucks. But what sucks more: having to adapt to whatever (likely minor) character changes with your main in 2 days, or not being able to play your main at all (Yun, Yang, etc) because they don’t exist in the game? I’d say the latter.
So far voting on this page has been heavily in AE’s favor. Please confirm this already so us out-of-towners can start making plans! :3
