Return of Tournament Fighters? New 2.5D TMNT fighter from Smash Bros and Team Ninja

Had a friend of mine who got it.
Said that it has a lot of moves (basically you can use tilt with any normal now), but the combos are very limited.

For a 1v1 aspect, he is not seeing it.
I dunno, I need to check this game out for myself. I completely forgot about it until now.

I’ve had the game since Friday Night. I’ve been meaning to do a little primer since then but I always keep getting sidetracked. If nothing’s been done by tomorrow then I’ll whip one up real quick.

I read through the guide while a friend shopped for weights at Wal-Mart, and I was instantly pissed when I saw that instead of one, there is three Raving Rabbids bunnies in this game. That extra two spaces could have been anyone else, fucking Bebop and Rocksteady will never be in a turtles fighter -_-

It’s like $30 for PS2 and I got a multi-tap and four controllers somewhere, so I might get it in a few weeks. The only complaint so far is that it’s a smash rip, which is fine with me really.

When you get around to tiering ReXXX, could you tell he how Karai, Casey Jones, and Nightwatcher (Think that is Ralph’s alter ego’s name.) are? I’d like to mess with them first.

Youtube matches of a Tournament from a fan site called Turtle Dojo, it shows some combos and a variety of characters. My only gripe is that they are mimicking Smash a little to much. No items, 1v1, and a final destination style map. Doesn’t surprise me though: http://turtledojo.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=342

Casey and Nightwatcher are very bad. Nightwatcher especially. NW attacks are all very slow. Casey is a huge powercharacter who gets destroyed by defensive speed players. Nightwatcher just doesn’t get any lube in those match-ups.

Craaaaaaaap.

Well it figures the people I like the most are low tier, If I can’t get them to work might move on to Mikey, Karai or Foot Ninja.

They say in the thread though that they will experiment with stages and items, but went with this since it was just a test of the online tournament system. Something like that. We’ll see where it goes, probably towards “final destination!1” in the end anyway though…

Yeah well, most of the stages seem pretty fun to play on. I will sell some games this weekend and try and pick it up for my PS2, I don’t think there will be a huge difference from the Wii other than lack of online play.

If they do keep away from the Final Destination style route I can see the scene thriving in the face of Brawl on Wii, but if they try to mimic to much, most might just go back to Brawl and the game will die. I don’t see anything inherently bad with the game.

I honestly think Karai is the best character in the game. Her speed allows her to outmatch alot of the characters and her strong attacks have amazingly low start and end lag.

Mikey is good too, but I don’t really know about the foot ninja. I haven’t played him enough lol.

Karai the best in a turtles game AGAIN eh? (well…she was just plain broken in Tournament Fighters, lol)

What the hell is wrong with you people?

Just because a game has fighting mechanics, a engine that’s not garbage and characters can be categorized in tier lists that means tournies should be revolved around it? Despite the fact its so obviously geared towards a casual mindset and simply having fun? I’d bet money if somehow, a community gets on this game, it’ll be just as much fail as the smash one was.

Not every game has to be played at a tournament. Its called a “video game” for a reason. Why don’t you people understand that?

Dude, chill. Who are you to tell people what’s fun and what isn’t :lame:
Taking games “seriously” is fun to me.
In fact, attempting to approach crappy games or games not intended for “serious play” in this way is extremely entertaining to me and several others.
Some people just like tournaments and tier lists more than casual play.

Cut that noise; I never said anything about what was fun and what was not.

This about what could be a perfectly fun game being overrun with the smash mentality and getting the shit beat out of it with unnecessary rules and community bickering. Its like the smash games aren’t coming anymore, so people turn around and rape this game in its place.

This has nothing to do with people that like “tournaments more than casual play”; its about which games can actually be at tournaments without people drastically changing systems and arguing like crazy to make it tournament viable. Which is why the Smash community was shit.

Fun fact: most “serious” Smashers are going to say this game sucks and won’t see in any potential in it other than a “Smash ripoff”.

Yeah, as I understand, most smash people don’t really care for this game at all. After all, it doesn’t have Nintendo characters in it

But still, what says this was intended as casual only… I bet this game was more intended, by the devs, to be competitive than Brawl was.
They did talk a lot about teching throws and doing combos and all that in their blogs… And they did include an online mode that is a tournament.

Besides, it doesn’t take away any from the casuals if some people want to be tournamenty. I believe they can co-exist in peace.

that word is bomb.

I’m getting it just so I can beat some stuff up with Ninja Turtles. Good game, bad game, I don’t care since it’s got the green brothers!

I’m lying… If it were bad enough I’m sure I wouldn’t get it, but the fact that the major drawback is that it’s a Smash ripoff doesn’t bother me at all. I’m not a smash player, and I’d rather be Donatello than Pikachu.

Nobody’s forcing you to play by their rules. Get over it.

Every game always has potential regardless of background. If some players don’t feel this game is worth playing competitively, then don’t participate in events revolved around that game.

Whatever. I just think its a shame a game like Smash got that kind of controversy because people got dedicated to making it something it wasn’t. All that arguing, wrecked up community, and I’ve even seen people talk down to others because they wanted to play the casually down at my college.

I’d rather this game didn’t end up anything like that.

I’d rather NO game ended up like that.

Well Smash sucks because of the community and the hacks they did, why I bitched when the videos I posted took items out and did a Final Destination style map, if you bothered to like read.

It’s a game with fighting aspects, of course someone is going to try and make tournaments for it, but they don’t have to be retarded Smash Brawl rules. I’d rather have all maps, all characters, and all items on and let the randomness flood in. Plus it’s incredibly funny when someone gets pwned by a map and goes into a nerd rage.

SRK has dealt with that crap enough to know this game won’t become that, and I hardly think SRK will ever do a serious tournament for this. Could be cool, but I don’t see it happening.

Ninja edit: Can anyone tell me if the Splinter Cell Rabbid is a skin for another Rabbid or a separate character? Think it is Splinter Cell, could be Syphon Filter or whatever, forgot which they did.
