Resident Evil (Questions & Discussions) Thread

damn.

that reminds me of my friend who stopped playing the RE when it first came out because of it had spiders in the game.

but man, I know Q doesn’t approve of this cowardly gaming. Im mean legos.

just…ftl.

Fucking pansies. Then again my wife nearly jumped out of the bed the night we played REMake and Chris walks into the back labratory room for the first time, right as the giant spider crawled down the door.

…and speaking of scary, HEY! Someone got some black in my RE5!

Hey guys I thought I’d join in on some RE discussion since the RE5 demo came out recently. I’ve been an RE fan for years, I’ve played all the games to completion with the exception of Survivor on PS1 and Gaiden on GBC, and even read all available books(lol nerd).

So yeah! I’m getting a little more excited for RE5 as time goes on, especially because the whole Chris/Wesker conflict will develop more it seems, and with that the return of a more classic RE storyline. I wasn’t too excited for the co-op aspect at first, I like going it alone, but after playing online a bit it was really cool to have someone watching your back and shit.

My 2 cents.

We’re always welcoming new blood to the RE thread.

Now that black people are shooting black people, everything is okay!

Anyone check out Gametrailer.com’s retrospective of the Resident Evil series? Pretty insightful, like the ones done for other series and a good walk of nostalgia.

You didn’t miss much. A throwaway new lead character and a convoluted storyline that doesn’t line up with what had already been established in the previous installments.

EDIT: Oh! Also backtracking. Lots of backtracking. How did I forget that, it’s like half the game.

Your missing out on a hell of a game. Very fun and unique RE experience. Not quite as scary as REmake but still a really good game to any fan of old style RE.

RE0 was an interesting game, if non-canon. I’ll agree that REmake is definitely the scariest experience I’ve had in a survival horror game. I remember playing through RE1 on the PS1 like 4 times and knowing exactly where each room was and every item, and the first unfamiliar room in REmake I started freaking out lol.

REmake still holds up really well today. The game is just so beautifully made and the atmosphere is perfect. I can’t say enough good things about that game and I always recommend it first to anyone who’s interested in playing a Resident Evil game.

That game gets me so nostalgic and that’s part of the appeal for me. I want to say it’s the perfect RE game. I wish they would do a remake of RE2 this way but I feel this won’t ever happen these days. If I was a billionaire, I would personally fund the project.

How would it be cannon? It’s before the mansion. It features a main series character with a support character. Seems standard fair to me.

On RE0, there is a section when you’re on the deck of the train, and then you come back inside and a zombie comes crashing out of the freezer as soon as you get back in the train.

Me and my brother both got owned.

RE0 isnt considered canon any more?

I would think it is canon considering it was part of the Umbrella Chronicles game.

Some of the other games like the RE lightgun shooters were non-canon.

I would have figured the only non-canon storyline would be from Survivor. Dead-aim seemed semi-canon at least. Gaiden is the only game of the series i’ve yet to touch.

what was the plotline of Dead Aim anyways that would have anything remotely to do with the RE storyline?

Dead Aim actually has to do with why the government finally stepped in and shut Umbrella down.

RE0 is canon. Gaiden isn’t.

RE Gameboy wasn’t cannon either.

That was Gaiden.

Resident Evil

Hey guys, late to the party here - my first post, so be easy on me

I’m practically new to the series of Resident Evil. The RE5 demo is simply incredible; because of it, I starting playing RE4 on the Wii - this game creeps the hell out of me but it’s oh so goood.

I can’t wait for 5 and I’ll be definately buying the previous RE’s (Gamecube versions) so I can get the full Resident Evil experience. For those of you who played them, which one was your favorite?

I will be probably buying a package of diapers as well so that I’m 'fully prepared for the worst while I play.
