RE 4 and 5 were great games no doubt, just not great RE games. It’s almost sad to say but give me tank controls back please…

Not sure how good or bad Darkside Chronicles is, but a full blown remake of RE2 would be off the charts. Maybe include RE3 into it as well. I always thought it’d be cool if Jill had come across something that you did in RE2.

Here’s hoping they’re working on Outbreak File #3 and are keeping it under wraps because with these next gen consoles it has the potential to be the best RE experience yet.

Actually, if Capcom is committed to giving up periodic chapters…I really could care less to rehash RE2.

Since we can pretty much confirm the first DLC is going to take us back to the place where it all started in RE1, its not too much of a stretch to ANTICIPATE perhaps a trip back to Racoon City in the DLC pack in March.

And I personally would shit myself to have Claire back.

RE2 is up on PSN, guys.

I don’t own a copy of the OG RE1, RE2 or RE3, but I own everything else. For some reason I’d rather have the disc version of 2 and 3 on Gamecube.

That’s cuz they weren’t zombies. And headshots didn’t require tons of bullets in the zombie re games. Maybe 3 if i remember right, but they moved so damn slow that you had time to aim, unlike now where the infected juke and duck, adding to the tension of seeing more come to join the one you’re currnetly engaged with. The only tension I got out of the older re games was “Goddamn, these controls suck, and my character moves like a tank!”. The current enemies ratchet up the tention and anxiety with their mobility. they are not zombies. They were people infected with parasites, and partially mutated. You think Capcom’s supposed to be as one-dimensional with this series and keep trotting out Umbrella and the same old t-virus, like they are with SF and Ryu always angsting about the Satsui no hadou, along with Akuma showing up to dick-ride him while talking noise every time he makes an appearance? They’re giving us some variety here. Enjoy it. they don’t do it too often with their sequ-uh, updates with ascending numerals. You may be able to play 7 games that all have the same shit, but with different graphics, but most people expect sequels to be SOMEWHAT different from the previous games in the way of something more than just a new main character with the same gameplay. Now, that said…one thing I’m kinda hoping they’ll do is allow us to play the previous games with re5’s graphics, online co-op and gameplay.

This “it dont feel like Resident Evil no more” shit is getting old. People complain about everything. The old RE was horrible to navigate, and our nostalgia is getting the best of us.

RE4 was a step in the right direction. Everything about it felt right, the controls were rock-fucking-socking and the series had a new spin to keep people from crying that it was “more of the same.”

No RE4 and 5 didnt have me on the edge of my seat, but then again, neither did RE2 and I was 13. Im a grown ass man I dont wanna be “scared” I wanna be entertained.

Once again for the record, I loved RE4 and even RE5, found them both to be excellent and fun games, but I just think they are different to the older ones. Not better or worse, just different.

As for the controls, I think they worked fine for the old games since it used fixed cameras, so having the controls set up that way made sense.

If they did make another one that wanted ot feel like an old game, I think they could use the same controls they have now, but just take the pace down a few gears. Have slower enemies, but with less health and far less ammo to make the difficulty what it was. Make it so you need to be concious about every round you have and all that. Add in some less linear levels that require backtracking/puzzles etc and you could recreate a lot of the old game’s style.

bottom line: capcom fucked up completely with RE5 by making it this two-player only bullshit. If they wanted to implement something like that, they could have done it as a spin-off, not as RE5.

it takes a special kind of skill to bring out a game (RE4) that someone loves as much as any they have ever played, and then bring out a sequel that the same person doesnt even give a chance to because the play mechanics are overwhelmingly alienating.

Uh I just rebought RE5 for 21$ and completely forgot about the newer one coming out, Its DLC right? RIGHT!? T_T

Yes, it definitely is. It’s going to be DLC and released on a disc, in case someone doesn’t have the game.

I fought Wesker/Jill in re5 last night…Awesome fight. Did Jill already know kung-fu or did Wesker do some mentoring while he had her all to himself?

 @ you niggas on the same shit for like 12th time in this thread.

Since everyone else is repeating, I’ll just say I hope they go back to the old style with improved item management. They can keep the tank controls. It’s not even that bad. Hell, I recently switched from RE5 to RE3 with not much trouble.

Anyway, can’t wait for the DLC.

the whole co-op craze that games have had this year ruined RE5. the game lacks fear or at least some sense of suspense. RE4 had good creepy monets while injecting in action and thrills.

I stnad by what I say as it’s not survival horror, RE is action thriller. RE5 however…is something else…and while it was passable…I didn’t like it NEARLY as much as 4.

Bah. There’s only so much you can do with horror (and isn’t the prospect of everyday organisms mutating into grotesque, violent monsters horrifying enough? The big-ass spider in 5 was something I didn’t like on an internal level), and the survival aspect we have now is just fine with me. Re5 is solid.

Jill already knows how to fight as former member of the Army Special Forces. And she also received a boost as Wesker’s puppet. She improved speed and strenght, the ability to stick to ceilings a la Spiderman as shown in the actual fight, and she being inmune to the T-virus and Uroboros as she having antibodies for both, helps her a lot.

When she fought Chris and Sheva alone, she showed some of that T-Virus aggresiveness.

In conclusion, Jill rocks!!! :smokin:

Thank you Rhio.

You jokers are crazy with the Tank Controls thing though. Please go jump off a cliff (with a bungee cord! ^_^). That shit is not fun. Just because you learn how to get used to something doesn’t make it fun. Being able to move in any direction is better.

But I don’t know if it can be scary again when the main enemy is a zombie which has quickly become one of the most overused baddies of this generation.

That’s what made Dead Space so unsettling. Those weren’t exactly zombies, and their violent changes and violent actions are further away from even speedy zombies that we see. It was just unnatural. Eventually though that got easier too and you have seen everything by the end. But for those first few chapters I bet you were scared. A new RE has to invent a new enemy for us to fear.

I don’t get why the tank controls get so much hate. Because of the camera angles that weren’t movable, and kept changing (sometimes in the same area) I think the Tank Controls were necessary.

It’s hard to explain in text, but what if you had the other style of controls (where up always equalled ‘up’ on screen) and you were running left away from a zombie, then the camera changes and suddenly pressing ‘left’ runs you into a wall/monster? With ‘tank’ controls, at least you knew pressing ‘UP’ always moved them forward.

Well anyway, I’m not really attached to any of that stuff, I’ve said before they could make the controls and camera just like RE4 and 5, but just make it so that zombies don’t drop health/ammo and slow the pace down to the slow burn horror style of the old games.

Some mercenaries reunion gameplay of Sheva in her folklore outfit. I’m liking the music plyaing in that vid.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I look at that and automatically think of that chick in SC3 who owns the store and has GIANT tits.:lovin:

Lol people bitchin bout how shitty RE4/5 were. Yall act like ya never played Survivor before. As far as “different” goes, I really liked the angle they had with dead aim. It was 3rd person, but it wasn’t. It was first person shooter, but it wasn’t. Only improvements I could see with dead aim was the fact that you couldn’t shoot/aim in 3rd person perspective. I like having options. One of the things that really got me about the RE series, even though it wasn’t majorly important…was the files you got to read and how creeped out you’d get reading them. It’s funny how everyone who has ever played RE1 can remember the “itchy-tasty” article, of all the articles even, that one had everybody talkin.

News on all-new DLC for RE5 involving Jill and Josh in their own side-mission:

You know, there’s a lot of stuff coming down the pipeline for this game. Looks like I’m gonna have to find me a used copy and DL this stuff. Just too much good stuff to pass up.

Shit, I wish Capcom did this for all their A-titles. Some DMC4 DLC would be nice too, ya know!
