Resident Evil 6

The game has only been out a week and one day. A lot of us are still finishing campaigns. Don’t you dare take away our right to bitch about shit in the game before the first month is even done.

Spoiler

[details=Spoiler][details=Spoiler][details=Spoiler]NO[/details][/details][/details]

RE6’s first week sales in Japan did extremely well. Sold over 630,000 copies almost all of which comes from the PS3 version. The game sold twice as much as RE5’s first week

So who here has fired up Resi 4/5 since completing 6?

I did play a bit of 5 just so i could confirm that i liked 6 better. While i do love RE5 i just think 6 is better overall.

(y)

Why is leon so godlike?

Spoiler

He crashes a plane, walks it off like nothing happened, and then goes into immediate combat with Nemesis 2.0

Im curious as why none of the main protagonist are ever subjected to the virus?

I’m actually more inclined to fire up RE3. Running around Tall Oaks made me nostalgic for Raccoon City.

I just had to chime in to say I think Ada’s campaign is the best by far. I’m not sure how much of it was not having to futz with an unwanted co-op partner, but even though most of her content is replaying previous environments it was the most fun, challenging, and interesting thing in the game for me so far. Especially that Chapter 4 boss, what a grotesque and kickass surprise. Anyone out there feeling lousy about Jake & Chris’ campaigns, stick it out and get to Ada, it’s more than worth it imo.

Jill?

^Yea
Im also pretty sure Leon was subjected to the las plagas virus too wasnt he?

Herbal therapy.

Blue ball comes slowly.

Right forgot about RE3 lol

No what i mean is the ramification of the t/c-virus being airborne. Thats how the virus contaminates in the first place right? You dont go into an infected city and inhaling that shit and expect nothing to happen. At least the Umbrella mercenaries had the sense of wearing a mask back in Racoon city.

Spoiler

Its even more wack during the leon airplane scene. Entire plan is infected but not our two heros. Also wtf are people doing with machine guns on a plane?

PROT ARMORU!!

We did.

Ada’s campaign so far is my favourite of the bunch. First couple chapters are pretty damn good - love the first one in special.

I hope the campaign remains like that.

It does, even with the retreading of some of the same ground. Plus I mean, the mighty crossbow!

Finsihed RE6 last night. So Leon’s campaign is officially the only one I enjoyed.

People enjoy saying plot armour because they tend to believe the fictional people are real, a story follows people’s journey, these people tend to be alive. The people who are dead are dead… Hey I just thought of an amazing IDE- damn, there’s already a game doing it

Btw the virus wasn’t air borne until that bomb in 6

I just realized the reason everyone loves the crossbow so much, including me. It’s the only gun (non-grenade weapon) in the game that guarantees the enemy will recoil if it connects. After playing through 3 campaigns with just a tentative hope your headshots will knock the enemy down, it is enormously satisfying to send a chrysalid-mutated B.O.W. on its ass every time, haha.

There is some plot armor when it comes to the viruses and the protagonists. Well, not really even plot armor. More like they just never really addressed the issue entirely. Jill is the only one in the main series that is vaccinated, but even this doesn’t happen until two months after the mansion incident. Certainly doesn’t take two months for the t-virus to screw someone up. She also gets vaccinated from the t-Abyss virus during Revelations. Sherry has been vaccinated from the G-Virus after being infected, but she is actually considered infected to a degree because the virus does not die out entirely…or something.

The Las Plagas were not viruses, but living parasites. They could only enter your body by direct injection. The initial Plagas cases happened when villagers uncovered dormant Plagas cells and inhaled them. Otherwise, they die very quickly when they aren’t in a dormant state without a host, which can be medically induced. Everyone with a Plagas was fooled into injecting it, forced to do so, or did so willingly. The Plagas does not initially control the host but does so quickly without drugs to suppress it. They follow the orders of the “master” Plagas and his control Plagas. There was only one master Plagas (Saddler) and Leon killed him. There were very few control Plagas, and Saddler actively tried to prevent their existence from leaking. This failed because of Luis, who developed a suppressant and a method of removing the Plagas. Saddler wanted to figure out ways to effectively stop any potential counters to the Plagas, so he hired Luis. But Luis caught on and reached out for help from Ada. Ada, Krauser, and Wesker really liked the control behavior displayed by the Plagas, and they caught wind of it. Eventually Wesker got a hold of the control Plagas samples with Ada’s help.

The suppressants Luis developed did not kill the Plagas, but slowed it’s growth as much as possible. This is because it is actually impossible to remove the Plagas from a host once it has fully matured without killing the host, and no viruses could actually combat the Plagas without killing the host before it matured. Luis figured out that you could kill them with radiation when they were still developing, but it is extremely painful and doesn’t have a 100% success rate. That rate goes down as the Plagas develops, so the best option was to slow the development of the parasite until one could get the needed treatment. Ashely and Leon did not have the Plagas injected in them long enough for the parasites to develop fully, and thus were able to get “cured.” 2, animated movies, 6 viruses? IDK, not explained. Nobody gets vaccinated even though the US government apparently has t-virus vaccinations a little while before 2 starts. Like the Plagas though, those afflicted can’t be cured once the virus and it’s derived versions become fully active. Eventually, Wesker developed a version that introduced a modified control Plagas, though this apparently never gets unleashed on anybody except Excella and Irvine.

In general, the other viruses are airborne only for a short period of time. AFAIK the only times this was the cause of an outbreak was Veronica and RE6. I can’t explain the RE6 virus because I’m not too privy on the plot yet (probably some bad writing considering that airplane infection lol.) Otherwise it was spread through injection, direct contact with an infected’s body fluids, and water. Raccoon City basically happened because of a leak into the sewer system, which spread to the rats. The rats spread the infection to various places, outbreaks happened, and a bunch of outbreaks happened simultaneously. So stuff went to shit.
