This may be slightly off topic, but since I have a PS3, can I just make a new user account and be able to start from scratch in SF4? As far as rankings go in Championship mode.
THIS SHOULD FIX YOUR RESET PROBLEM
I wanted to do the same thing you are doing and try a new ALT character but not get destroyed by G1 players. So I went into request preferences or xbox live battle and chose championship mode and changed it from “GRADE” to “FREE” before i was able to accept the changes a warning popped up that said if i changed to free it would clear my current ranking and be set back to zero…I didnt want to at the time so i didnt accept but that should clear your ranking and start over. hope that helps…i was thinking of doing the same…
EDIT: i tried this last night and i think the message i got was referring to my progress in the championship mode and not resetting my whole account…
I’ve heard from the grapevine. Plus if I spent all my days playing online my C.Viper would be terrible. I’ve realized at this point that there’s no point in playing C.Viper online other than to get used to certain matchups that I don’t normally play before a tourney.
No that will only reset your championship progress. You’ll still retail the same GP.
Anyway, what I did was just start a new profile. I wanted to experiment with Dan, so I made an alt gt and started going to work in Championship Mode. It’s great practicing combos on G2 players and all, but at the same time, I’m sacrificing my metagame due to the fact that there really isn’t much of a metagame to speak of in G2. There are exceptions, but seriously, G1 players are indeed better because of the mind games that go on.
Get the game on PS3 and PC, then you can level up two more characters! Good eh! 
Another suggestion.
When you go to championship mode go to Free tournament.
You face people from any level.
In an effort to find better competition, I tried this when I was in G2. But I couldn’t ever find a single match. Ever.
Yeah, I beat the game twice on fight request without being challenged once on PC. =(
The reason for that being that who would want to free tourney besides people in G1?
G1? G2/G3, requests all day. i couldn’t even finish a match w/o getting a request. it was prosperous times :rolleyes:

This weekend Microsoft is having a free xbl gold weekend.
You can make a silver account, then use it online to screw around with an alt if your online win% means that much to you(or your in a G1 ghost town). It’s only two days, but it’s better than nothing.
i guess im lucky that ill prob never EVER get to G1 i just dont play that much (1hour a day tops usually). and atm i play as abel and dhalsim as my mains and coming up against certain characters almost means an instant loss for me atm

you can always make a free gold account though…i have like 4 (SoVi3t, Brock Harder, iiiM Bisoniii, and Sovietondrugs).
I wonder if this will let me use my actual account for free for a few days though…
anywho, sorta OT, but the other day I won a championship, went up in points, tried to join a new game, and when I went into the accept challenge screen, a message came up saying “connection to opponent lost” then when I went back to the main menu, it informed me that since my last match didn’t end properly i had to start over, and lo and behold, I lost a 120 points

Yeah, g1 is also full of scrubs, but the worst players in g1 (even under 15k) are USUALLY still “better” than 95% of the g2 players plus as an added bonus you get crazy shit like 65k gp gens and vipers that will keep you interested in the game. The only viper i met in g2, I double perfected her. =(
Plus, i’m in Italy, not even in the states, and the only times i have to wait longer than a round (arcade requests) is for finals and sometimes semifinals. It can’t be worse than that in the US.
Looks like you just missed your chance. When that “XBL Gold for a dollar” thing came out you wouldn’t believe how many people made a new account just so they could beat the crap out of G3 newbies to feel good about themselves. These weren’t new players. They were doing 10-hit combos for half my health. Trust me, people will just hate you if you do that.
