Replacement daughterboards archive

so if I understand this correctly, the Daughter boards you are making are basically blanks that you’d be able to wire up the buttons to a new PCB? (from what I saw in the paewang file)

Would it be possible then to just make a custom daughter board with the usual Start/Select/Home/Turbo buttons? I remember when I was working on some ideas for my custom I wanted to reuse the Paewang menu buttons in my case, or find a 4 button pcb daughter board that i could have used to for the menu buttons instead of the 24mm or even 20mm buttons, but my impatience and lack of knowledge curbed that idea.

is there a market for this kind of custom 4 button daughter board (similar to the one on the TE and SE) that stick builders or modders could use in their builds?

  1. Yup.
  2. Well, possible, sure, but its not really worth it to look at it from that angle. Putting a daughterboard like these into a case would involve pretty precise and specific setups in the case to mount them, a source for the rubber contact nipples, crafting small buttons to go into the holes, I just dont see it being worth it to any of the custom builders. But hey, I’m happy to be proven wrong.
  3. I doubt it. I don’t even think there’s a real market for the intended use; repurposing cases that would otherwise be thrown away. I’m not doing this for money, I’m doing this so modders like myself can more easily use old/cheap cases they have without the umpteen hours of dremel work to make it usable. The Paewong case was just too much work for me to bother with. Now that the daughterboards for them are in, throwing a PiiWee in for a cheap Wii stick should be a breeze, once I get the play buttons figured out.
