I can’t go to the arcade tonight cuz I have a midterm due tomorrow that needs its ass kicked.
There’s 2 tourneys tonight, we’re doing GGXX first since it’s 1 game single elim, it will get done faster, then cvS2 will follow afterwards (assuming we still have the numbers). Anyway, sign-ups are still at the same time 7:30 and tourney starts at 8:00.

Each year I get less and less interested in the scene…
And each year I say to my co-workers that thats it… Im going to quit… but something inside of me keeps saying no… not yet… as if there is something I need to prove…
I’ve accomplished a lot I believe as a gamer… yes I no Choi or Valle or Justin… but for a small town gamer I think I’ve done well…
Recently, I talked to a friend of mine (at least thats what I thought) but anyways thats besides the point… but he made me realize… that I’m not happy anymore… not with him… not with the scene… and frankly… not w/ the people i hang out with (I dont mean to disrespect… but thats how I feel inside)…
Well anyways… The one thing that I realize what kept me in the scene is that I have fun w/ games not becaues i think im good at them… but because its just FUN… but I dont have that anymore… the second reason is that I have fun with the people I hang out with… but outside of gaming… I barely hang out with any of you… Im sure thats partialy my fault as well… but regardless…

unless NCR for whatever reason sparks any interest back… IM DONE…
Evo this year is gonna be crap for me… I hate console… I dont think its how a major event should be… I flat out DONT LIKE IT…
Besides GGXX… there isnt a game that I wanna keep playing… and now knowing Im not going to Evo… whats the point of playing GGXX… oh well IM DONE…

Since Nick Yacono asked that question, I guess I’m inclined to answer. And the answer to your question Nick, No. Why? There are so many reasons as to why, but mainly I have seen the scene go from having 1 idea built and just get dropped. After NCR 1, we decided to become a crew, and learn to play and feed off each other. That didn’t happen. Secondly , I never even saw any dedication from anyone (practice and what not). None. That hurts considering that how we did in NCR, IMO, wasn’t good enough. Did we do something about it?? No is the answer to that.
Nick remember when we had that conversation 4 months ago that lead you to post that horrible thing here in our threads about Nick Suttie, and you told me that you felt that he didn’t really have any enthusiasm towards it? Well to be honest, and Rob pointed it out, he did. He played CvS2, every single time, and had the right motivation. That’s what we expected the moment we all agreed we were going to be a crew. That didn’t happen. As Rob was telling me all of these last night, I grew bored and un-interested to the scene already. It felt like almost everyone was already happy of how they’re doing and how they stand right now. Tourney’s are boring every single time we had one. Nothing was fun anymore.
Also, if you read almost anything I have said, there are times where I’ve asked if anyone wants to do something besides playing games. And that gets shot down almost every single time. I’ve always thought of all of us as being friends, and getting to hang out, not just with games but hang out as friends. Apparently, I was hoping for that last Sunday, it became apparent that some aren’t really interested, not just by watching Wrestlemania, but hanging out as friends. It sucks, and oh well. That’s all I can really say to this. Rob has gotten to the point where he’s just tired of it all. Reality struck him, and it has for so long, he just really didn’t realize it until now. I’ve felt about this since last year. And I already know what he’s going through. I have so much problems that’s going through right now, and keeping a positive outlook is probably the only thing that’s keeping me a float from going insane.
There, now you know the answer. I don’t know if that’s the answer you wanted to read, but yes I’m not going to take the torch and run with it. If you think Rob’s tired…I’ve been tired, since last year. OH well, see you guys in NCR, since like I have stated, it’s my final major tourney.

sorry to hear both jp and rob are quitting. =/ seems like reno’s top players are all quitting/leaving… sucks for everyone i suppose. i think the saddest part is that rob’s post was saying how he didn’t feel like he had real friends in the scene, and what’s the first thing out of everyone’s mouth? “oh hey well uh lemme buy that game from you or that system!” instead of talking to him as a friend and asking him why he’s leaving this and that. =/ kinda pathetic, really
but whatevs, to each their own. i’m not quitting gaming, and ncr/evo aren’t my last tournaments. if you don’t have fun entering tournaments than i totally agree; don’t go. if you don’t like games, don’t play. it’s called a game for a reason…

ps; jp, i hope you’re not quitting because of the fact that rob’s quitting… you seem to use rob’s motivations/feelings as your own alot of the time, and i don’t really care to see a good player leave for no reason other then his friend is leaving aswell… but that’s none of my business.
This sucks. I don’t know either of you two well, but it’s always sad to see good players leave the scene.
Everyone has their own reasons for doing something Paul. I dunno, I did say I was gonna quit last year but Rob made me stay. You dn’t know that simply cause I didn’t tell anyone else except Rob. I never wanted to go to the first NCR, but Rob told me to go. Reason being, I did say that NCR is my last Major, why cause 1 it’s the one I can afford, 2 it’s seomthing worth going to (for myself). I don’t expect you to understand anything that I have said due to the fact that 1. you’re moving to Florida, and 2, you never really were there to motivate me. It’s not an attack to you, but over all, that’s how it felt. If you guys think i’m quitting cause Rob is quitting, well there’s 2 sides to that. 1, Rob is the one and only the one I will consider my equal or better yet my Rival (Angel is the second closest one), if my rival quits, there’s no point for me to actually stay and find a new one. no point. I’ve already stated why. No motivation from everyone, and anyone. It becomes boring and over all I just grow tired of it.

And as for this quitting business…ummm, if you don’t want to play competively on a national level, that’s cool…welcome to the club…just don’t be so melodramatic about things…Rob said it’s not fun anymore, but I try my best to have fun everytime I play…I might not go to Evo this year since no one else is now, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop playing games…I love games because they’re fun and I like playing games with Reno Crew because you are my friends down here…I’m not very good at the games we play, but I go down to Sunnyvale and I went to Evo because I wanted to hang out with you guys and have fun…
I hope that both you and Rob consider me to be your friend like I have considered you to be mine…Rob said some cryptic things back there, so who knows how he or you feel towards anybody? But aside from my natural distaste for silly theatrics, none of this matters to me and I still think you two are interesting people that I’d like to keep around…
