…how do you expect to play an FPS built for a PC on X-Box 360 (unless they have keyboard and mouse you can use)? And if they didn’t, you’d just get owned by all the PC players because they have a keyboard/mouse while you have a lowly controller. Even then, it’d feel weird to play with a keyboard/mouse on a console game. Just doesn’t feel right without a desk.
Skill?
what the fuck are you talkin about??? Are you stating the companies cant do it, or something else??? Please clarify!!
Because from where im sitting right now, your sounding kind of ignorant. Or maybe im getting the online tone mixed around and your simply stating your confused.
Now if what you mean is that it is impossible to port over, then i ask you this lil buddy, ever heard of doom3??? Because MS managed to port that over without any concerns, nor a keyboard/mouse requirement either.
Now if what you mean is that ill be at a disadvantage because im on controller, then i would have to disagree with you on that as well. First of all, do you realize they make controllers for the PC??? You ever think that maybe some people buy those things, and there not just another piece of plastic sitting on your local Best Buy’s shelves??? Also, you ever heard of Halo??? They have that available on the PC, and as far as i know the best players in the world in that game ALL play the xbox version (at least the top players that show up on a very regular basis).
So please, have some sort of factual clarity before you start shitting out of your mouth.
And FYI, im not bashing the keyboard/mouse players. Hey…if thats what makes you confortable then by all means, play away. My main point to my crazy muffinness is that dont immediately assume someone sucks just because they use a controller and not the Keyboard/mouse combo.
Well now im pissed…im going to eat a cookie
HEY MUFFINMAN LET’S HAVE A MIKES HARD LIME DRINKING CONTEST
OH YOU LOSE
GET A CONSOLE VERSION OF THAT BITCH~~~~
Honestly, F.E.A.R. has some dumbass bullshit in it. It’s not going to last very long past the Demo being free…
- Meele is instant kill regardless
- Super-weapons are overpowered (duh)
- Penetrator nailgun has NO RECOIL. NONE. I HAVE SHOT THE SAME PIXEL 25 TIMES IN A ROW RAPID-FIRE
- No VoIP
- Default game speed is the eqvililant of watching paint dry. It has to be played at 1.5 to be considered playable IMO.
- No real radio calls at all, you have -6- very generic options.
- Armor sucks ass, you die in 2 hits (which I guess is okay… ._.)
Plus after breaking it down so much, while it’s still mad-fun, it’s mad broken. Penetrator + MP-50 fucking repeating cannon is bullshit combo.
Well i guess all i can really say is, one: You would never beat me in a drinkin contest. I’m a walkin beer barrel. hehe
And two: Hopefully they fix at least one of those problems in the final version of the game. I mean it is a demo after all. Heres hoping.
You’re acting like I’m attacking you personally, which I’m not. I don’t see why you’re so heated over something so small. Chill a bit.
Let me clarify what I was saying for a second. Yes, I was saying one could be at a disadvantage if one uses a controller in a PC FPS game. FPS games for the PC are fine tuned for a keyboard and mouse set up, so the game’s mechanics are different than console FPS games.
Take Halo for example, like you did. Halo is a console FPS, meaning it’s fine tuned to be played on a controller, rather than play on a keyboard/mouse. The controls are set up to be most comfortable for a controller to be used… and the games mechanics are set up so that the limitations of a controller are made up for, hence the minor auto-aim in Halo (dunno if that’s an option that can be turned off and on at tournaments, though). Many console FPSs are like this because an analog stick cannot be aimed as quickly and precisely as a mouse. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that console FPSers a bunch of auto-aim newbz or anything; I’m just saying that it’s not as precise as a mouse during some situations. The reason why the best Halo players all play console does not have to do with using a keyboard/mouse vs. a controller, but rather a number of reasons. One, Halo began on a console, making it much more viable than getting a PC to play Halo. Two, the game was originally designed for using controller (console FPS). Three, since consoles are much more convient than hauling around PCs for tournaments, the console version is used (hence that’s where all the cash is at). And four, (last I checked) the PC port of Halo was garbage, which links to reason three of why the PC version isn’t used in the huge tournaments. I remember hearing many complaints on how unstable it was on what were considered good computers back then.
Are X-Box Live players even able to play on the same servers as PC players? I’m not sure, considering I don’t play Halo, but I’d imagine the game engine for the PC version had been tweaked for PCs, meaning some of the game’s mechanics are not compatible with the X-Box version.
Anyways, I digressed a bit.
I’ll bring up a small other point. Let’s use Counter-Strike as an example. This is a PC FPS, finely tuned and tweaked for using a standard keyboard and mouse set up. Much like all FPSs, the game requires precise aiming and superb reaction time, but can you imagine playing a game like CS on a controller? A thumb using an analog stick cannot be as precise during a situation that requires a quick and precise shot out of nowhere compared to a hand using a gaming mouse (or even a trackball, which is just as effective it seems). I mean you could use a controller and probaby do okay, but given that the same person with the same skill is in the same situation under the same conditions (life, ammo, armor, etc.) as a person using a keyboard and mouse set up will probably have an advantage over someone using a controller. Like I said, it’s because of how the game works.
I could use another PC FPS game… Team Fortress Classic (also a mod for Half-Life). At high levels, I know that game would be impossible to play when using a controller. The game is played at such a fast pace it doesn’t leave room for error. For example… there are some very technical techniques such as conc jumping (I don’t want to explain it if no one knows what it is… but involves using a grenade to become airborne and travel very quickly over long/short distances) that require precise timing on when to jump, when to prime the grenade, when to release the grenade, the angle at which you jump, the position of the grenade compared to your model, and how precise you turn to maximize the effectiveness of your conc jump. The best players in the world are able to do this flawlessly given the right situation (which is not being knocked into the air by a grenade, rocket, or other explosive), allowing them to zip around complex corridors, by-passing defense, with relative ease. To do this on an analog stick would be impossible given the mechanics of the game and how analog sticks work as opposed to a mouse.
I suppose it REALLY depends on the game that’s being played, but my main point is that a PC FPS game, which is made for a keyboard and mouse set up, cannot be played 100% when using a controller. Console FPS games, which are made to be played on a controller, are fine because the limitations of a controller are fixed by how they developed the game’s engine.
On a final note, have you ever seen a PC controller that had a “good for FPS games!” as a selling point? I haven’t.
ok first off, i decided not to read everything you posted just then.
I guess you can say I’m the lazy type and i hate to read. :pleased:
You were better off prolly posting a big “Fuck You” at the beginning to kinda grab the attention of the reader. But alas, i became bored instantly at this arguement.
Now you might say, “You just have no comeback for what i said”. But i say “No sir”.
(notice how i dont give you the pleasure of knowing why…meaning you and this topic are not worth the time)
Now i leave you perplexed at my simplicity and I hope we cross paths on this battle field we call Life, so that one day i may have a muffin drink with you and we shall party til the break of dawn.
:encore:
P.S. I dont play FPS’s to be the best or be in tourneys or some shit. I just play em for fun
P.S. x2 I LOVE YER FUCKIN AV. That thing owns me for free!!!
a muffin drink causes the world to suck on his cock
LOL…oh yes it does. we got vids to prove it
i’m perplexed too
Muffin is as random as life itself. :wow:
Peace out, USA. I’m outtie tomorrow morning. Goodbye fried rice, hello fried chicken…no, wait.
Wow Tantin, please don’t go and gay up my serious discussion threads. Someone give him 5 bucks so he can pay rent to live underneath Circus Circus or wherever.
I aims to please
Yo nick, good luck in japan!!
Grab me some vending machine panties and anime while your there and send em to me when you get back :pleased:
It was a joke, Po. Calm down. And I did have a serious question.
Tantin, you’re about to hit the big 1000 in posts.
As punishment for this, you may only post in serious discussion and/or not absolutely ridiculous speak after 1000 posts. Doing so will cause a neko to fly into your head faster than a nailgun from the Penetrator.
BUMP OF CHICKEN
Yacono didn’t call me last night, so I hope he got in safely to Japan. Everyone should wish him luck there!
Good luck in the land of which is not America
Okay, he landed safely. As he put it, his apartment is the size of Robin’s bathroom. “When I stretched this morning, I leveled the city”.
LOL, I can’t wait for some pictures of his insanity.
CHARRIOTOH BUMP!
Dear Yacono,
Please make short people very uncomfortable like palming their head like a basket ball at every opertunity, especially in elevators.
From the Moon, with a sandwich,
