I should be their today. Around 7:00 pm

Potter whooped my ass yesterday. I have never seen a cable like that in my life. I hate T5. I get my azz beat to much.

damn it why does everyone go so late lol… anyways i was there today… the big cabinet is ass if anyone doenst know that already… i was playing with my friend today and I push short on my side and his jab comes out… anyways the small cabinet is where its at now, and yah i agree i hate potters cable, its almost as annoying as his sent lol… sigh

7 character limit

edit: do you regency guys not like new faces or something

good games today to everyone i played… sigh rfc sticks are horrible sometimes anyways i think we need to get them to fix the cabinets cuz i think even the small machine is messing up now =/

Anyone know how long RFC’s GGXX’s video has been screwy like that? I can’t see anything on the left side since it’s too dark there, and I can’t see anything on the right side because it’s too bright there. I get the feeling that it’ll never get fixed, which also rules out any possibility of #R showing up there. :bluu:

P.S./Edit: the other question is if anyone (particularly the RFC regulars) knows how long RFC is going to keep that Monday-Thursday six-tokens-to-the-dollar rate. Is that a short-term gimmick, or is it gonna be staying around?

me and magnetro will be there today anyone else gonna show up?

is anyone coming tonight? i MIGHT come. please post up

the GGXX machine used to be the SS5 machine until they had to swap disks on it for a tourney and ever since that tourney the machine hasnt been the same since. also that machine had other problems too, like volume being way too loud and frequent crashes.

from wut i heard the Mon-Thur dealy is a lil deal to replace the old freeplay thursdays thingy but i hear its prolly gonna last the winter. also for the past 2 thursdays, RFC has run out of tokens at around 9pm… :lame:

Is there anything that we, as customers, can do to try to get the GGXX machine unb0rk3d? Like, who to speak to, write to, whom to call, bring in our own TV/CRT/tube/plasmascreen? The 6-token plus a proper GGXX display would have me stuck in there for hours. As it is, I had three opportunities this month to drop by RFC, but skipped by because of the GGXX machine’s unplayability. Considering how small the GG community is (compared to the Capcom games’), I wouldn’t be surprised if RFC doesn’t consider repairing to be sufficiently beneficial (cost-benefit analysis, etc.).

well i think there were attempts to fix it before… the volume was eventually fixed, the screen’s condition has changed over the time it was swapped with SS5, if kennywood were still around things wouldve been done about it, but ill ask around to see wut the deal is with the GGX machine.

Anyone plan on going today ?

news update- from wut i could gather today from the ppl at RFC they are wanting to change the cab for GGXX but they also want to do the same for that whole row of games there. and also it seems they can only get one cab a month, so with patience it will be fixed.

Thanks, PingPong.

I only found RFC about a month ago, so I don’t know the significance of kennywood.

This “by the month” schedule of maintenance seems pretty widespread. At UCLA’s arcade, a repairperson comes around roughly once a month for a day or two to fix broken equipment.

I’m wondering if there’s a law or something that prevents freelance-ish arcade repairs/maintenance, or if it’s just an understanding amongst all the arcades to pull this kind of stunt. Someone I know in Croatia bought a Hyper NeoGeo 64 cart for home use, and had to file official documents that the game would not be used in a commercial arcade since, over there (Croatia), arcade machines are considered gambling machines and are regulated as such. I’m wondering if there’s a similarly retarded law stateside.

The other thing I noticed is that all arcade machines I’ve seen in CA colleges have the same sticker of some company (“Campus Entertainment” or something) on it – UC, CSU, or junior college (I have personally spotted these stickers at UCLA, CSULA, CSUDH, CSULB, CalPoly Pomona, El Camino Community College). I’m beginning to think that arcade machines, all the ones in California, might be traded on a split possession/ownership basis, like absentee-landlord apartments or car leases (hrm… arcade leases?).

There’s something seriously screwy going around in the background. UCLA’s arcade had Capcom Fighting Jam (= .jp version) shipped in and sitting on their floor, unassembled, for nearly a whole week before the official release date of the the arcade version (and it was conveniently assembled and operational on the official release date). The artwork/panel are Japanese, so I assume it was imported. I can understand a “Do Not Open Until Christmas”-style contract between arcade and Capcom (or whoever distributes CFJ), but who the hell decided on CFJ? Certainly not the customers. I can’t imagine enough people amongst 3S and MvC2 wanting CFJ. And some of SoCal’s GGXX best were at UCLA while GGXX#R was floating about in Japan, yet no #R at UCLA (nor within a 30-mile radius thereof, curiously). Then there’s that strange synchronicity of Tekken 5’s appearance across SoCal – I know of one arcade where T5 is the only FTG they have, everything else lightgun, overhead shooters, driving, or dancing/full-body-motion.

It seems pretty clear now that RFC and a host of other arcades (all of them?) are not in complete control of their own materials. I’m on the verge of morphing into a conspiracy theorist here.

is anyone coming out of their cages tonight for Marvel? post up!

I will be there tonight around 7:00 pm for some MvC 2.

sounds good. i’ll let the traffic die down and i’ll be there around 7pm as well.
