No offense Saikyo Joe, but we DID play some mirror matches, and I don’t feel you’ve fully explored Sakuras style of game. Once you get better with Sakura and can routinely beat flowchart Sagats in G1 you may start to understand that Sakura isn’t that bad.

You just have to really been on point defensively and wait for your opportunity to go on offense.

im with obey i noticed my sakura is getting a lot better after i dropped the resets just because u really have to win by solid play and honestly its better cause u get more guaranteed damage and stun instead of risking loosing in

To be fair, no one is really “that bad” in this game. Every character can win, it’s just that for the bottom tier you do have to be considerably better than your opponent to win.

I’m agreeing with all that’s been said so far, I’ve won so many matches with Sakura just based off solid play over her resets there would be times where I would go full matches without having to ever EX Shunpu, and if I did, it was either finished off by sweep or Otoshi and not a reset. Doing the reset thing 24/7 will get you figured out fast, since a shoto will start mashing out DP to break out that thing all time. It’s during this time that you gotta learn to finish combos with Shouoken to keep them on their toes AND net guaranteed damage; as I said before, a predictable Sak is a dea… um, I mean, KO’ed Sak.

Not only that, but you have to cover all the bases on defense. ALL of them, and not be impatient and try to attack when you feel you want to. That’s where most Sakura players blindly do EX Shouoken and wind up getting punished for it. You gotta settle down and read & react will to win with Sakura, and when you do that you’ll be able to win more often despite her weaknesses.

As soon as someone who knows how to play Sagat Sakura’s going to get raped, that matchup is horrible.
I don’t think it’s going to be much better in SSFIV either because his fireball game seems untouched.

You should always strive to be better than you’re opponent. I seem to recall a video where Sabre’s Sakura had a very evenly matched set against another Sagat.

I’ll make it a point to play without resets, just to get to know the basics, Shogun is right. I’m not too familar with the basics and I could use a lot of work myself. Anyone can win, as a Dan player I believe that, its just how much effort you wanna put in. I’m not giving up on Sakura by any stretch of the imagination. She just needs a man with experience.
