We have a tournament here in the islands tomorrow and itās a ticket to Evo 09. The last qualifiers starts at 3pm, top 2 or 3 advances to the finals at 7pm, and if you win finals, Evo. Itās $30 to enter and Iām debating whether I should go or not. Thereās still a bunch of matchups iām uncomfortable with such as elf, cammy, blanka. I can use Ryu but whereās the fun in that? =D
Update: lost to zangief, then rushed down by rufus. gg
So I bought Blazblue and totally hate it. It looks like a game that would require some time to learn and that goes against everything I stand for! The only character that interest me is Taokaka because well she is part kat :lovin: I played my wife and she beat me 17x in a row using someone called V-13 who appears to have a combo that takes 65% of your life and can also be comboed ito something called āFinal Distortionā. So since my wife likes it, I am forced to keep it. But as for me, I am sticking to my girl Sakura lol.
I tried bb online once and got mauled. So far Iām personally digging V-13 and her many swords of doom, but I havenāt really found a character that I didnāt likeā¦ theyāre all awesome! I can beat my gf pretty easily, which she REALLY hates. She wants to take the game back or for me to pay her 60 bucks because she refuses to pay for a game that she sucks at  My girl already picked taokaka as her main. Now I just gotta get her to put in the work to level herself up so she can get into itā¦
We Havenāt touched SF4 since we picked up blazblue.
i played a crazy good taokakaā¦ you can use her drive attacks to keep you in and do combos before the other person can recover. i personally main noel and am at a 70% win percentage (and no im not a D spammerā¦ i rarely ever use my drive attacks unless im going for the astral finish)
New Sakura user, reporting for duty.
Been playing her all day online in PC ver, losing mostly but itās been getting better the last few hours.
I just love EX otoshi. I think thatās 70% my reason to play Sakura.
Her combos in challenge mode seems really tough though, canāt imagine me pulling them of in a match.
Iāll stick to j.HK, c.HP, hadou/shou for now, and scrub it up with that as best I can.
Is there a compiled list of newbie tips somewhere? Like common sak mistakes you should avoid, or what moves are the safest and such?
Oh youāre SO closeā¦ get rid of the hadou/shou crap at the end there and learn to love EX shunpukyaku instead!! add an otoshi (no need for EX) after the last kick and youāll be good for a whileā¦
Itās a mixup. Theyāre going to try and throw you or combo you, which would have been more difficult with the otoshi because you land long before Sak does.
Also, if you otoshi a cornered opponent you switch sides with them, so itās a good idea to finish the combo with something else when near the corner.
j.hk is a decent way to reset. It causes the other person to land on their feet, instead of on their back like otoshi does. This way, you can start hitting them again much sooner, but itās not guaranteed damage. Basically the other person has to guess wrong about what youāre going to do next. Iām very guilty on relying on it TOO much, but it works pretty well when it does. Iām pretty sure you can hit them with whatever you want in the air, but hk/hp does the most damage I think. j.lk lets you walk or dash underneath them for a crossup, but I donāt use that as much, not as long as hk is still working simply because itās easier.
Basically I do something like ex tatsu -> j.hk, land and pause for a moment, then nj.hk -> c.hp -> ex tatsu -> j.hk and so on and so onā¦ This goes on until I run out of ex stocks, the opponent figures it out or the round ends
