I’ll definitely give SFxT more time since pretty much everyone dropped SF here, just when I thought I was getting better. ;( 4 player matches are hella fun (not scramble mode, I love Melee/Brawl but keep that 4 player on screen crap away from my SF)

Just found out that Lv2 focus dash forward is +4, so she can do a true blockstring. No idea why I was scared of getting DP’d all this time. >:

Ah funny, gotta laugh about SFxT being “too soon”. Yeah, it was released so soon they even had time to finish the game and create 12 extra characters before release. Of course that’s not how it was, just how they’re trying to sell it. Anyways mustn’t moan about it too much, I haven’t bought the game and I certainly won’t buy it brand new, probably get it second hand at some point. Some of the Tekken girls peak my interest (despite hating the series) and I do like my fighting games.

I really wish they would fix the timer issue. It’s ridiculous how many time overs happen in this game.

I don’t understand why they didn’t use Marvel seconds or even half that.

Agreed for the most part. I think the game’s fun and I’m mostly playing it just because everyone else is(I’m kinda working on the side to revive BB locally but this smashed some of that momentum), but I truly think they did a pretty terrible job on the game in many aspects. Hopefully it’s fixed up a bit by the time Sakura gets added.

I’ll repost this from another thread with a couple of slight additions:

Most of this. I also should have said, I think the game is really fun, and I don’t dislike it at all, I just think that it’s incredibly unpolished and objectively not a ‘great’ game. It requires patching in several areas, and in some instances it just feels like they didn’t even make an attempt at doing well.

I’d say my thoughts are this:

Pros

Deep engine with a ton of potential

Augmented hit attributes on counterhits (awesome)

Solid music

Cool backgrounds

Combat feels fast/not boring

Intro movie is awesome

Great job done on Tekken character models

Cons

Timer is way too fast, a solid half of my matches end in timeout even when both combatants are rushing each other

I think it’s still premature to claim it fully, but the game feels pretty poorly balanced, some characters very obviously have to work less hard for damage than others; the game is very jump-in oriented, and some already strong characters got gifted with godlike AAs while others just have to sit and block, making them even weaker by comparison

Trial mode is shitty (Capcom standard). Not just unviable/inefficient combos, but shit like ‘trial #6 is using a move requiring a stance change, none of trials 1-5 are how to change stances’

This is being pushed as a tournament game, but not only did they fail to add in a non-stupid button-setting method that was in a game they published just a few months back to speed things up, they actually managed to make button checks EVEN SLOWER by only allowing one player to set buttons at a time. Slightly offset by at least being able to set buttons at character select.

In same vein, cumbersome gem setting method DLC gem differences making gems practically impossible to use in tourneys(edit: they’re at least looking to fix this soon).

I think there’s already been two(four*) infinites found? Or at least one plus a major glitch

Very mediocre netcode

DLCgate/XBox pair play nonsense

Color editor with almost no stock depth, likely to have to pay for actual colors(edit: thankfull, no)

Throw range/animation time

Some poorly thought-out input commands (awkward King inputs, Poison’s backflip)

Pretty much what I feel really. The Poison backflip really annoyed me since you can’t plink her c.mk. That and the button input display is alot more difficult to understand than SF4…

You can plink it, but you need to use mk~lp instead of mk~lk, it’s a little awkward but you’ll get used to it.

I’ve heard about the DLC fiasco and the Xbox co-op play lies, but these other problems just add fuel to the fire.
Good thing I’m waiting on this game. I might even be able to pick up a used copy from the bargain bin.

Ah, right. That is awkward, when I play Makoto I do a similar thing for hayate cancels (mp~lk) but that’s alot less awkward.

My stick is broken so no SF for a while now(which might be a blessing since I have exams soon…)but from watching videos I noticed I don’t use st.jab, cr.mp and AA cl.hp enough. Those 3 moves are so godlike.

It’s quite obvious really; instead of making sure shit works, they were too occupied with how to leach as much money out of their customers as possible. Saying it’s “diabolical business practice” wouldn’t be going far enough. I could write a thesis on what they’ve done wrong with the game.

I played in a small tourney last week, in only a week and half of SFxTK with no SF4 I completely unlearned the game, first match was jumping around like an idiot and dropped an ultra in the corner that would have won a round, second match accidentally set my fierce button as forward and didn’t notice til three rounds in lol…
