Man, this matchup thread is a pain. Thanks for the help guys. If you want to contribute I’m on pretty much all night, being my birthday and all I will be up for a while. I’ll probably flip between the Premo section and editing the thread, so just stop by if you want.

Happy birthday Joe

Happy Bday Joe

hah i’m not used to seeing you without a hat

and chun li is hard for me =’(

haha i’m sure your akuma wouldve destroyed me. I have a lot of trouble with that match-up.

I’m trying to play chun li more so I can get into the arcade scene

yes! that would be cool to see you around ai more.
i’ve been getting into c viper and abel lately too
they’re both fun.
anyways nice seeing you ;):cybot:

Figure I’d boost this thread up some.

So, after many weeks of putting it off and sitting on over 14500 points for the longest, I finally bring my Sak into G1. My verdict…?

…it’s pretty chill.

To be honest, I no longer see championship mode as a choice way to keep enjoying SFIV (especially as a Sakura player), and haven’t played it seriously in about two months; save a few late G2 championships here and there due to boredom; so the fact I’m even in G1 is purely off the fact that my point gain over that long time finally pushed me over. I know everyone’s gotten the gist of how G1 rolls, and I guess this is just a confirmation; although I’ve been holding onto a winning record with my Sak since going in there earlier today. I’ve gotten to the semis quite a bit despite the calibur of opponents (have yet to make a finals appearance though), and other than that, I’ve been holding my own, but still I just don’t find the mode appealing other than a time waster when I’m bored. Guess it’s true that player matches with friends will forever be better, and even that, when it’s ideal, offline play in general, but at least I can say that I made it there, although it doesn’t really matter much anymore to me.

Just needed to get some thoughts off my chest.

P.S.: I also LOL at the fact that people automatically choose a counter-pick character against me since my icon and title are all Sakura-based; not even hiding my attentions. I’ve had guys with Cammy, Viper, Chun, Dan and all other ā€œuncommonā€ titles going straight to Zangief, Boxer, Blanka & Bison without wasting a beat (I can tell by ā€˜counting’ how many times their cursor moves via sound effects, although I guess I really can’t tell if they’re really maining that character truthfully now, can I?)

I get this in G3

I haven’t touched Championship mode since I got to G2 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m still at 1GP. <.<

I know what you mean DeNice.

When I was at that stage, it was pretty much the same. And nearly everyone would play the same turtle style, every time. They’d just jump back and stay there for most of the game, and to be honest, it’s not hard dealing with someone like that, but it’s boring having to be the one that starts things all of the time.

I got into G1, hoping things wouldn’t be any different, because I wouldn’t be near the top range of points, but for the most part, it is exactly the same. I’ve gotten into a few semis as well, and one finals, but I can never edge out that semi-finalist.

That, and G1 is pretty empty too, so you end up seeing the same faces again and again.

I haven’t played in a while, I keep meaning too, but it’s pretty boring :frowning:

might have some casuals with a couple of socal’s top players tonight, including alex valle! He’s teaching us kiddies how to play something called street fighter

"This just in; this just in…

There have been multiple sightings on the Xbox 360 SFIV leaderboards of a G1-E rank Sakura putting up replay upon replay of final battle wins in one afternoon; roughly in the span of 4 hours. This is an extremely rare occurrence and all civilians are urged to stay indoors to prevent being struck by Cherry Blossom Fever…"

Nah, I’m joking about all that, but despite the fact I no longer really care about championship mode, I managed to go on a HOT STREAK today. I can’t recall the amount of wins I had, but I know I only lost about 5 or 6 times in that span of 4 hours (wasn’t playing nonstop), and managed to win 3 championships within that span (despite one being a gimmie from a high rank Zangief that didn’t want to promote to SG). Let’s just say that I’m excited; being able to take my Sak against so many matches, mostly against opponents that 6:4 or (in case of Gief) 7:3 me, and just go off. Only thing I gotta say is; adrenaline rush!

Anyways, I hear that Jersey City, New Jersey has a spot that’s gonna have a tournament on the 25th. I don’t know if I’m gonna make that date; too iffy, but I SO would’ve wanted to actually showcase my Sak in offline matches for a change… Well, I’ll just have to wait until the time is right. In case anyone’s interested, I’m planning on recording two of those G1 wins for my channel (one’s on the boards already); but I’ll stop now. Gotta keep modest…

i got the red ring soooo, no more sakura for me for a long while =p

Buy SF4 for your PS3 and FACE ME.

Oh noez. :frowning:

I fear that I will get the red ring sometime.
