I’d be more than happy to take this match. I never said you were that bad at all, but you make yourself sound bad when you say some of the things you say. I think she is A-tier and we were talking about Kindevu’s tier list and the fact that some of the top players in the world keep talking about how good she is now. I made a post on SRK talking about what the top players said when AE first came out and how since than she has gotten nothing but praise since. And from my first AE tourney when I faced some of her bad matchup and felt how much easier they were, which was one of the reasons that I got so far. Some of me SF buddies played me saying with her being so good, they wanted to fight me now. These were the same guys who played top tier all day, and said that she sucked in Super which she didnt. I beat the living hell out of them all and got 5th place out of 70 players that were there. Some where the best players in the Midwest. And believe it or not all of them played a character who was a bad matchup for Sakura, and I won them all in Super( the bad matchups is what I mean).
The tier list in AE is: S,A+,A,B+,B,C. That makes her in the 3rd group of characters who are close to the top. The same players put her at D tier in Super. I didnt even see the tier list until after the tourney and even then I said she was really good now in AE, better than shes ever been. I know that tier list are never set in stone. Maybe it will change. Everyone said Hugo was ass when 3rd Strike came out. He just now went B+ on the teir list. AE has been out for 6 months and is being played by the best.So I’m more than interested in fighting you when AE comes out.
So if you wanna fight me, lets go fam. So you got Xbox Live or PSN? . Sakura, Ryu,Ken,Seth, it dont matter to me, son.
Ah here lads, Sakura SRK is supposed to be the friendly one >.<
im right you are wrong etc etc… lets solve this the best possible way! In an online street fighter match!
Sorry but ya gotta admit there is some comedy involved here haha. Cheers.
He said it first, yo. Im just here to talk Sakura AE. Im not here to start fights, but when someone starts running off by the month you gotta protect your rep.
I can tell by how he posts he just likes arguing for the sake of arguing. no big deal, just trying to shed some light on it in a humorous way is all. Cheers.
We never started a new video thread going from vanilla to super and AE matches have been getting posted to the current video thread.
However, I will allow you to make a new AE video thread which I will sticky and then I will rename the other video thread so its just general sakura vids and critique. I’ll probably unstick that one. I’m also going to sticky this general discussion thread. In most character forums the GD is stickied. I dunno why nobody ever did ours.
Things change, just gotta adapt to it.
This is exactly what I thought too lol.
UPDATE: I found My Little Pony on Youtube. The one in your avatar sounds a lot like English Makoto.
haha why not just respect each others opinions.
We are all repping Sakura.
The problem is that people speak their opinion on the game and characters as if its fact. What’s worse is that people take the opinions/actions of top players as the gospel. “Such and such said/did it so therefore it is sound and should not be disputed” sort of attitude.
Anyway, 3 cheers for Sakura. None of this tier or matchup talk is gonna affect anything I do in Ranked and Endless. I’m not getting paid to take this super serious. I just wanna get some KOs when I get to play AE at home.
See? Finally someone with their head on straight.

@blueflamingo
lol, where am I being negative? i never said its impossible to win with sakura or that it isnt fun to play the character. i dont like it when people post false information as if its fact and im disputing those points, which is why discussion forums exist.
there are people in these last 1-2 pages who make it sound like sakura is one of the best characters in the game now. thats fine if you have that opinion, but i dont see why its not okay for me to disagree. its not like im trashing the character, but be real now, we’re talking about sakura not yun or feilong. how is it negative for me to say “hey, sakura is actually 4-6 or worse against some of the best top tier characters in the game”
@skatan
I have a lot of respect for you as a player but sometimes you just talk nonsense. You cannot hit confirm a 1 hit shoryu and fadc if it is blocked. You cannot even consistently hit confirm cr.mk -> hp.shouken based on videos I’ve seen of you (which is fine, nobody can) and you expect me to believe that you can hit confirm 1 hit shoryu and only FADC if it is blocked? The window to hit confirm a 1 hit shoryu (which u need to confirm on block, not hit) is even smaller than the window for cr.mk -> hp.shouken, which is already a hard hit confirm
edit: anyway this isn’t even that relevant to the point. ken is one of the few characters with a 3hit fadc-able DP (which is actually easily hit confirmable, unlike 1 hit shoryus). and combine that with his karathrow pressure and top tier footsies and its a hard match for sakura. that makes it a 4-6 match in my opinion (which is not even a horrible match, just slight disadvantage)
@mingodynasty
this is random, but I was watching the air vs clim finals today and it’s the most perfect example ive ever seen of how good cr.lp is against blanka ball. yes, he uses ryu, but sakura’s cr.lp has an equally good startup/hitbox so just focus on the cr.lp usage. watch the ryu vs blanka match starting at 6:28
and, again, before you say “ryu vs blanka is totally different than sakura” just watch the video and look at the cr.lp usage (especially in the second round)
If it’s just a slight disadvantage, then it should be 4.5 - 5.5. 4-6 and other extreme numbers should only be reserved for pretty damn bad matchups imo. Shit like Seth vs Gief or something retarded.
And you still haven’t explained anything about empty jump usage.
Can anyone hit confirm cr.mk to HP shouoken? Doesn’t give a lot of time to react, I mean, I need at least 2 to 3 hits to know that I can finish my combo. I guess it’s not for me. I’m just going to stick to reading the opponent and then using mk to shoryu

what is there to explain? if you predict a blanka ball you can empty jump backwards and punish it on landing. of course, blanka can also punish you if he is aware and baits you to empty jump. but thats not going to be the case if he is “spamming” blanka balls like a scrub. theres no such thing as an absolute braindead counter in this game. if you know what your opponent is going to do then you can punish it, thats why spamming sucks. that works vice versa too for your opponent punishing your “counter” if you are too predictable
same thing with blanka slide. slide beats cr.lp, but with cr.lp’s fast recovery you could just as easily block the slide and land a huge punish. nobody can punish a whiffed cr.lp on reaction, he’s going to be guessing too
again, of course he can punish cr.lp with something (not just slide, but a lot of safer normals will beat it too). it’s not like you can sit in one spot and mash cr.lp and win against blanka. the point is that cr.lp will stop horizontal balls, and throwing out a cr.lp is very safe (relatively) and gives you a free mixup against blanka’s bad wakeup. its a perfectly good deterrent to prevent people from spamming horizontal ball mindlessly
4-6 is a slight disadvantage matchup. it means that in theory, all else being equal, you’ll win 4 out of 10 matches on average if both players have perfect execution and high level skill. 3-7 is a disadvantage, 2-8 is a big disadvantage. SF4 series are pretty balanced games relatively since its rare to even see 3-7 matches, which are still NOT impossible matches (while they are common in other games).
its not like 4-6 means you are destined to lose or something. it just means on paper the other guy probably has more options than you, or has a better risk/reward ratio, etc. its still very possible to win.
Try looking for the cr.MK hitting instead of the hp.shouo hitting. Many Ryu’s can reaction FADC a cr.MK xx EX fireball. I don’t think Sakura’s reaction FADC is too different.
Edit: I just noticed you meant hitconfirming cr.MK into hp.shouo, and not the FADC. But anyways, just always buffer it, like TheRetroKid recommends.
I don’t think it’s possible to react in time. With Sagat I can react to low short, but I either do low short (hit), low jab, tiger uppercut or low short (block) low short, low jab, tigershot.
Reacting to what the other characters do and punish with cr. mk shouken is doable.
honestly, i just buffer, so there’s a shouken waiting inside every cr.mk that hits. i guess it’s an option select of sorts. if it doesn’t hit, then it’s just a whiffed cr.mk, but if it hits, then shouken automatically comes out. i do it at a distance where it won’t hit a blocked opponent and instead, they’ll either walk into it or throw out a limb for me to hit.
Well finally you explain. Did you not see me asking you several times if you meant neutral jump or jump forward or what? Also, this pretty much contradicts what you said earlier about blocking it and walking him to the corner… but nonetheless, I will try this the next time I fight Blanka, thanks.
I disagree. Again because I come from the RTS realm. Statistically speaking, OvUD was a 4-6 matchup, while the rest of the matchups were between 5-5 and 4.5 - 5.5 (which was already fairly difficult). There shouldn’t be any such 3-7 matchups or worse unless the matchup is so bad that even a scrub can win by like facerolling or something.
(warning, heavy WC3 jargon incoming)
This imbalance was so bad that at the pro scene, some UD players would refuse to play vs Orc, especially on Orc sided maps like SV. How often do you see fighting game pros refuse to play certain matchups?
And some other players would sometimes even counter pick. Counter picking is alot more common in fighting games because there isn’t that much to learn (normals, specials, setups, basic combos, etc.), most of which you can easily learn quickly. But in the RTS world, this is rare considering you need to master numerous build orders, building placements, hotkey usage, certain micromanagement tactics, and especially timings (most difficult of all), etc.
If you don’t believe me, visit WCReplays, probably the most dominant forum for WC3.
