contributing isn’t particularly hard. I pretty much just do math and srk forums think I’m smart.
You can try to make some more organized threads or something, IDK. I’ve been doing it in the Blanka forum to pretty good results.
Whats up guys? This is what I posted in Eventhubs today after reading some BS. It seems that everyone thinks shes will still have the some problem she had in SUPER and its not true at all. This is what I said:
"Its not the fact that she got better, its just that all of her matchups got easier across the broad. Blanka is easier because you can deal he cant chip you with blanka balls. Cammy is easier because she cant do her divekick so close to the ground, Gulie is easier because his damage is lowered and Sakura hitboxs on some of her normals are better. Get Ryu in the Corner and its over for Ryu because he cant air tatsu out. Zangief is easier because he has a hard time getting to her now.
Theres a reason why Daigo, Mago, Tokido, and Kindevu put her so high on their Tier list. Uryo said he didnt play her at tournaments in super because her matchups were so bad in that game. She had good options and did great damage but because of the match ups it was tough. When AE came out he went on a 77 game winning steak or something like that. I played her in a big tournament in Chicago and got 5th place. I beat one of the best Zangiefs in the midwest, a Blanka next, then a Cammy, then a Ryu (he didnt win a single round). All which were bad match ups for her in SUPER. Before the tournament I was on a 17 game winnig streak before I got up to eat and didnt lose.
Her buffs were a help, no lie. But its the match ups and how easy they got that makes her even more of a danger. Daigo said it. Tokido said it. They both did in a interview.
So it either you really suck with her, or you dont play her and your playing garbage Sakura players. But she will be a force in AE."
What I think players are doing is looking at the buffs to much. She was not a bad chacarter in Super. Its just the fact that she had things that she couldnt deal with in Super (Cammy’s Divekick, Blanka Balls being safe, etc.). IMO, she is A rank without a doubt. With matchups being sooooooooooo much easier, and her doing more damage with combos ( I think cr.mk ->SRK does 5-10 points more dmg. It was 215 in Super.) she is A rank. Daigo, Tokido, Mago, and Kindevu wouldnt put her there for no reason. They have played AE for more more hours than any of us. So Im sure they wouldnt put her there just to put her there. Uryo also the last time I checked had over 1250 wins and just 183 losses. …yeah. Also check this out:
If you go down to the bottom you will see that she is in the 2nd group of character as far as points go. The reason Im posting this is because Im trying to put this “Sakura is garbage” shit to rest. Ive put in over a 1000 hours with her since Street Fighter 4 came out, and as a long time player I can tell you that she is what all players have been waiting for. Im not going to post here anymore, because Im tired of coming here and reading crybaby-ish shit about her. I’ll just post as many vids as I can on Youtube and prove it.
In SSF4 vanilla Uryo had over 5k PP. There are only about 20-30 Sakura players across PSN and XBL that have over 5k PP so I’m still not convinced that Sakura is A Rank in AE just cos Uryo had a good streak going.
I didnt say that she was A rank because of that. Out of all the things you read, you pick that example out of all of them. …? No Flowers, I gave more examples then that and he has over 60,000+ BP now in AE. Ye, Uryo had a good win streak, and but the reason I said she she is A rank is because her matchups are easier. Thats what I said. Any player can go on a win streak. The reason I used that as an example is the fact **that with the matchups being easier and no one can just abuse a singe tactic when fighting her that the top japanese players put her that high. **How much did you read dude, really? No disrespect, It seems that thats the only thing you read out of everything I just posted.
Well I did read it all but I’m just basically saying Uryo is a A Tier player already. He was pwning people online/offline before AE despite the bad matchups. I’m not surprised that he is doing well in AE with her. I’m just surprised at the jump from D tier to A tier. But you know what I haven’t played AE at all. You have, these other top players have. I just think its hard to believe that other characters could have been nerfed THAT BADLY lol for Sakura to be A Tier but hey, if thats what it is then I’m happy too! I guess I will just have to wait and see how things go for me once its on console.

Well Flowers, I think the problem was that you were putting her in D tier in Super to begin with. She wasn’t nearly THAT bad.
I was thinking of creating a “AE Matchup video thread” soon and it would include all the characters with their own spoiler (Like the Sakura matchup thread). And I will include all the high level videos I find of Sakura vs (said character).
What do you all think of this? I have the summer holidays next week (joys of school :p) So I would have loads of time to work on this.
How is it hard to believe? Makoto went from D (the japanese players were calling it M tier just for her) to A+.
Also, Flowers think about it like this. Lets start with Blanka. Remember how he got free chip from Blanka Balls and there was nothing you could do? Well, one Blanka player tried that. I blocked it and hit him with a 40% life combo. Once he saw that it wasn’t safe, he didnt know what to do. Cammy vs Sakura was free for Cammy because she could do divekicks so close to the ground and Sakura couldnt do anything about it. Now Cammy has to be higher on the air which is bad news for her. I can go on and on about this. It was becasue of these nerfs to most characters that Sakura is ranked higher. Take my word for it. What people tend to forget is the fact that many characters got nerfed. **Ono said that the world warriors characters would be at much more of a risk in this game due to how powerful most of them were in Super. **Look a how far Ryu and a few other characters have fell off. Its not always about what just your character got, but what other character gained and what got tooken away from them. One change can change a match up. Wait until AE comes out and you will understand exactly what I’m talking about. I play AE almost everyday.
I agree with Sakura being A-tier in AE
Skatan, Im sure that you’ve played AE by now. May I ask why you think that? Im sure that you have some good reasons as well.
I’ll take your word for it YoungJ. When I said hard to believe I didn’t mean that I didn’t think it was true. Its more of a, “Really? Are they sure? How can this be?” kinda thing. Your new examples do paint a picture for me that makes alot of sense. You guys have played AE and I haven’t so its like you guys are telling me you have seen aliens or something and I wasn’t there to see it myself.
Mainly because most of her bad matchups got nerfed, if not all of them.
Guile should be the only character left as a 3-7 matchup, but most of her other bad matchups from ssf4 have gone to 5-5’s or 6-4’s in Sakura’s favor.
Sakura still retains her high damage output which at this point is very rare, she’s also got very good mobility and retains the air shunpu escape.
Her noteworthy bad matchups at AE are going to be Yun, Fei and Guile. Having bad matchups against Yun and Fei is terrible, but against Guile at this point is not as bad as in SSF4 due to the new metagame.
Sakura’s pressure is stronger now that she has cl.mp for more versatility in frame trapping people, which is what she wants to do to begin with.
To make it short, she is A-tier because she is solid, has high damage and her bad matchups got nerfed.
Blanka has other options vs. Sakura, also jab ball is still safe, which means he can still chip her, his spacing just needs to be more on.
I honestly don’t believe that was the only reason he beat her in super, and I wouldn’t rank her in the top 5 of character matchups the ball nerf affects.
I think her buffs will have more of an impact on the matchup as time goes on than his nerfs.

Blanka Balls being safe on Sakura was the main problem. And jab Blanka balls is slow as hell and you can easliy react to it. Even with her Buffs, if Sakura couldn’t counter Blanka Balls, the matchup wouldn’t have changed. What buff did Sakura get that would have stopped that move? None. Go to training mode and see how slow Jab Balls are. The guy I beat at the tourney says the same thing and he use to beat me alot in Super just because of that. That match up is 6-4 in Sakura’s favor now. I disagree with you 100%.
maybe it’s just that i’m playing non-stellar fei’s, but i feel that sakura can hold her own against him in AE. i mean, they have to really space their rekkas and not just throw them out randomly against her. cr.forward beats out his rekka so he can’t rush you…and if every one of your cr.forwards has a shouken after it, then it won’t take long for them to learn. even if they manage to catch you blocking, you can punish after the second rekka with another cr.forward into shouken.
as for sakura being A-tier, it really depends on if there’s an A+ and S tier. if there’s an A+ tier (ken, akuma, yang…yun being so S-rank right now), then yeah, i agree that she can hold her own at this point of the game’s life. if there’s no A+ tier, then i think she’s a B+, which is still awesome, compared to where she was in vanilla.
From what I hear it like this:S,A+,A,B+,B,C. With Sakura being A
shrug I don’t think he’s that one dimensional a character.
I think players over rely on balls in tons of matchups. 95% of Blanka players are ass.
I’m looking forward to play AE and experiment with Sakura. I’ve been playing a lil of mvc3 so I haven’t really been playing much super, so I’m ready to learn new tricks and all OSes possible against the twins. o_O

@veserius Yup. 95% of Blanka players are indeed ass. Too much ball, gimmicks and lag-only gimmicks (if you play online). And how I hate that pretty much 60% of my local comp. plays Blanka. ¬¬’
