It’s silly to say that one ambiguous setup is inferior to another ambiguous setup. And yeah, her resets can be very ambiguous, that’s why they’re good.

Hello! I’m a Makoto/Guy player and I’d like to start learning Sakura now

I just… don’t know which threads I should look at first, all the sections seem pretty different. Can anyone help me out?

Sakura is not a character that relies on resets to win, having to use resets to win just makes your win/lose ratio more random. If you want to play like that you might as well play flip-a-coin online edition.

thank you.

yeah, dont know why so many people think that when you’re talking about mixups they think resets…
if you’re playing a decent opponent who uses a better zone character than you and you can’t get a knockdown on them its done

and please remember empty jump > cr.lk blocks wakeup dp all day

I know you’re supposed to be the best sakura player who posts here, and you probably are, but the things you say are just dumb.

Any fellow Sakuras hitting CEO next month?

Any expanded info on this?

I’m just trying to feel Sak out, and more setups is good.

I’m Steinmania, and this is my favorite post on all of SRK.

edit:

The unblockable is pretty hard to do. I don’t have a good timing system down for it yet. LK Tatsu on ken/ryu’s wakeup when timed right can be unblockable.

HA! Funny

No worries, I’m good at working out timing mechanisms, my brain is wired to find this sort of stuff. I’ll play around with it.

great! Can’t wait to hear your results!

— We’re calling it the “Steinblockable” though

I never even thought of naming setups after myself. I should stamp my name all over my blanka unblockables.

Also if I’m ever in SD again i want to play you instead of just having you do commentary on my matches.

Sure ;D

How did I miss this gdlk post? LOL

I played like six different sakura players tonight. Most of them were good too.

If you follow the argument you will see that nobody was trying to say that she depends on resets. The argument was that some were saying resets should not be used at all.

Speaking of unblockables. Is it possible to make a hadouken hit as a cross up on someone’s wake up after 2x otoshi? Like how blanka ball and psycho crusher do? If it can be done then surely its an unblockable opportunity?

I’m pretty sure nobody said they should never be used. They should rarely, if ever, be used though. And even then it’s character dependent. Also, against anyone with DP fadc you basically should never do them if they have 2 meters, unless you want to play a guessing game that is not in your favor, and give up a free mixup that is in your favor (wakeup jumpin, which beats all reversals)

also, an unblockable setup is not possible with a hadoken. the position of your character is what determines how your opponent needs to block, sakura would need to be crossing up the opponent when the hadoken hits for it to be an unblockable.

the reason why unblockables work is because some moves have weird hitboxes where if they other guy holds forward for 1 frame, the move will suddenly not cross up, while holding back will make it cross up. so technically you can still block if you press the right direction at exactly the right time. I think that sakura’s j.hp might be capable of doing this but I’m not sure

Fair enough Jawang. I’m not trying to start it up again but I’m sure that if Skatan had read the whole debate from start to finish he would have worded things a bit differently is all.
