Yeah, does this thing work well with a Dream Box Xbox converter?
we made a thread about this one awhile ago. i couldnt find the thread to link it . basicly i have had these in person and i modded one for my cousin. i modded it with sanwa parts. but there is no way in hell american happ parts fit in there. its just too slim. its a waste of money to make it a bigger taller case. u might as well make a new case. and sanwa needs some routing either on the top or bottom. for 20 bucks its a steal pretty much tho .
Are the PCB’s utter shit like they are in all the other red octane sticks?
Last time I bought one they still had crappy PCB’s. They may have changed though since some other RO products I’ve bought recently had rather nice PCB’s in them. It isn’t a big deal to switch the PCB out for a sony one though.
Oh and while we are on the subject of Red Octane Sales they have their time Crisis Foot Pedals on sale for $15. They are top notch High Quality foot pedals if your into Time Crisis.
He just put random rubber disks he found lying around in there as spacers, it looks really ghetto. I dont have a pic, but here is a random drawn diagram to get a better idea.

Oh I see what you mean. Maybe I could figure out something like that to make it easier to put in as well. Maybe some screws or something. My dad might have something. We’ll see.
Oh and how hard is it to put a Dual Shock PCB inside of one of these things? Does anyone have a tutorial for doing so on this stick or any other stick that would have a similar process?
I’ve got some Sanwa JLW’s that should fit in this case like a charm. No woodwork required. If it works, I’ve got extras for sale.
Spiffy, thanks for the foot pedal tip. I’m all over that.
Edit: Box has been sold. Thanks for the interest -
RedOctane reminds me of byrdo’s box. http://www.byrdo.org/small_sanwa_blueprint.htm
Anyway, I hope it’s base on Byrdo’s awesome template. I ordered two. Does it have a plexi/acrylic top? From the picture it does but I don’t see how it’s screwed on the base.

ModCapper it is the other way around. Byrdo based his box off of the Red Octane one but made it smaller. If you look at the pictures of his different sticks the first few are Moded Red Octane sticks.
It does have a Plexi Cover but the Plexi is just held down by the buttons. If you mod it with snap in sanwa buttons you would have to drill some holes for bolts.
Thanks Spiffy for setting it straight. For $20 it’s a damn steal. I might order a couple more.
Quick question peeps; do they ship the sticks out in secure boxes or do they just send them out in original packaging?
Would two of these cover the price for free shipping? I think it might come up a few cents too short… About how much is the shipping anyway in the east coast? Any sort of estimate?
It comes up a few cents short if you only get two. You have to get at least 3 to get the free shipping. The shipping for only two boxes is a little under $5.
Oh and dial911 they usually package the stick pretty well. What exactly do you mean by origonal packaging?
May have already been asked but… Does a Sanwa joystick fit into this easily? What about the buttons? Are there any cutting or hole widening required to make this work? I may order one of these after payday for making a good japanese style stick.
Also I asked this on another thread but is it easy to put your own art in under the plexi on this?
They come in some plastic bag inside a box, there is no decorated box, per se. The first one I got didn’t function with diagonals, so to answer the PCB question, yes, they are still sh!t. They come with a shiny piece of plastic on the top of the stick, that comes off with the buttons. you can easily put a graphic under it, but you need a large printer to make the picture big enough.
On that note, can someone give me the measurements for the graphic? I have a templa?e, but it comes out half the size it should when I print it.
I’ve never modded a stick brfore but I’m seriously concidering getting one to try out on. The parts are cheap enough.
I’ll be replacing the pcb so I’m going to need soldering equipment. Can anyone recomend any for doing this? I.e iron, solder or whatever else I’m going to need.
But £15 for the box is esily worth it. Over all I should get a nice custom stick for little over £60, should be good practice too.
The holes need to be widened inorder to fit sanwa butons. As far as sanwa joysticks are concerned they need to be top mounted.
Iseelba seemed to indicate that he thought a JLW could be bottom mounted. Maybe they have a longer shaft than the JLF joysticks do but I was under the impression they were the same length.
The ones I have might have longer shafts. If you give me the measurement of the JLF that you have from top of the mounting plate to top of the balltop, I can compare. Thanks!
From the top of the mounting plate to the top of the ball top is 6.7cm and I’m useing the standard 3.5cm ball top.
