Game Genies can be wonderful devices to use to revive interest in older games or the next-to-impossible SNES games (insanely difficult shooters, platformers, etc.).
(Of course, when I had an SNES and Game Genie, I used the Game Genie to turn the “sweat” in MK I back into blood. I also used it to give SF2: World Warrior Turbo speed. Made the game insanely easy to beat with Chun Li! LOL)
Never did hack my SNES… I just used an SFC converter. IF I had known I could just break off the inner cartridge tabs if I had the guts…!
Its used but I going to replace the buttons and mod the joystick any ways.
I am thinking of slapping a chimp in there.
I did that for my SNES. I had to open it up any way for some repairs as I purchase it from ebay told broken and AS-IS.
Turns out only the AC/DC/ adapter port was work out. Pain getting the old one out, I ended up replacing the plastic volt port with a metal one from radio shack.
Going to tentatively place this recommendation here - if you get enough points at Lockerz dot com, you can get up to 25% off of the PS Vita 3g bundle. Ordered mine last night for $240 shipped, got a dock, case and screen protector as well, all for $278. I’ve never dealt with Lockerz before, but I’m seeing enough people saying the store itself is legit with the discounts. Took me about an hour to get enough points for the discounts, just play a video, mute it and go about your business until you get the points, then play another video.
^^ i’m gonna have to check that out. first time i heard about this site. but quick search on CheapAssGamer sounds like its legit. i’ve been buying $5 taco bell box to try and win a free one. no luck. lol
Found some decent deals on wiring while buying laundry cleaning supplies the other day.
Big Lots discount store chain (Ohio at least): Big Lots has a 6-ft Cat5e cable on sale for $5. They also have 6-ft USB 2.0 cables on sale for $5, too. They sell 6-ft HDMI cabling for $17.
The first two cables are useful for people doing multi-system PCB mods – ie, the PS360+ or MC Cthulu. Cat5/Cat5e cabling is particularly hard to find on sale for that price in stores. It generally sells for over $10 for any amount you buy in computer parts stores. Yeah, online you expect to find better prices but not everybody has a credit card or wants to buy everything online.
I will for sure be modding it (stock Hori stick is loose as hell), but seeing how LizardLick’s items are still out of stock… it might be a while unless you guys know a good place to get Sanwa parts. Looked into focusattack, but they don’t have a lot of varieties. And Akihabara Shop… I’m a little concerned about any hidden international fees (if there are any) and how to pay since the prices are in yen currency.
No, they don’t have Fry’s in the Midwest… Those stores seem to be mostly West coast.
Instead, we have Micro Centers. One good thing about Micro Center (that they don’t advertise) is that they WILL price-match NewEgg’s website product for product. It’s nice to have at least one decent computer parts store in the area…
I got a Cat5e cord from Big Lots (I’m not proud; I like to save cash!) today. Made a boo-boo report on it. It cost $4 for 6-ft of cable, not $5!
I think it’s still a reasonable price. Generally these cords cost $10 and up depending on which computer store you get them from.
It’s just nice not to have to buy everything online. The Internet for all its convenience and cost savings is a great place for some people to steal enough ID info so that they can rip you off!
I get a generic Oxy clean powder there for laundry ($2 versus $6 or better for brand names); the cables are just as good as they are at the computer store.
Funny thing about Cat5 cable. I do have a lot leftover of grey Cat5 cable from when my parents first got wireless. They couldn’t figure out how to get it to work and strung something like 30-50 feet of this stuff between one computer and a modem! LOL
(They eventually got wireless to work… Of course, when I inherited a PC from my father, they DIDN’T leave an antenna on the wireless card of that PC! Grrrrr… Have to eventually get a new antenna or replace the current card. My mother claims the antenna never worked! Frankly, I think they just didn’t read the directions as usual…)
I inherited the cable years ago but have never used it. I wanted to be cool with my PS3 and go wireless. Took me a while to get the router to work perfectly well with both the computer and PS3. It was a pain-in-the-neck to configure that hardware!
The DVD selection used to be much better at Big Lots, though. Haven’t really bought a film there in over a year. It’s really gotten slim in the past 2 years for whatever reasons. The selection just stinks now !
They may not be as widespread in the Midwest, but we definitely have Fry’s here. Indianapolis has one on the north side. I’ve been to one in Illinois as well.
