Oh I guess I just remembered it wrong.

We’ve had this argument before. There is just no fucking way someone could tell there was a 1/60th of a second difference. 4? Probably. But it was better than every other option (Was getting hard to maintain Dreamcasts, real copies of the obscure japanese ST release, and PS2 to DC controller converters worth it?).

So Honda’s normal grabs have the same reach as Blanka’s but Honda is very slightly harder to throw? I always thought Blanka could outrange anyone else’s normal throws. I guess you learn something new everyday.
Honda also has a stored command throw, with larger range, with three button release chances, that has no whiff animation, and overlaps with defensive crouch due to negative edge. Blanka has one throw, a normal throw, that overlaps with a standing normal (fierce), and can only be used with button down and not release. Throw ranges don’t necessarily tell the entire story keep in mind. Honda is much harder to throw for other reasons aside from grab ranges.
It’s definitely possible to feel a 1-frame difference (compare the slightly faster fireballs for o.Ryu in ST compared to n.Ryu) although less certain on whether that 0-1 variable frame difference (as NKI had concluded) would have actually affected anything. Also, not all converters are built the same way; some may have 0-1 frame lag (Innovation and EMS the most well regarded) but some of the others I know are absolutely horrendous. There was one used in a local tourney where I had trouble doing Guile’s 4 HP combo in the corner because there was so much lag, by the time I saw the moment to press the 4th HP, it was already too late. I messed it up 5 times in a row and thought there was something wrong with the game (back when the DC version was thought to have incorrect hitboxes) until I double-checked against my EMS converter where I right afterward performed the 4 HP combo 5/5 times (no surprise since it’s an easy combo in the first place).
The biggest strike against CCC2 other than the input lag was the glitches (disregarding training mode, which doesn’t matter). I remember back when the collection was released, I commented here how I saw an opponent stuck in midair (while doing crouching moves no less) and also my not being credited with winning a close round that I was supposed to, some things that I’ve never seen in arcade ST. It was lucky that those bugs never seem to have come up during tourneys at the time but if you keep playing that version, I guarantee that you’ll encounter some strange stuff, presumably due to emulation issues.
Of course, regardless of the problems, you could tell Sirlin tried to pour his heart at Backbone into giving the world an accurate ST port with a training mode to boot. I think everybody here would still be cheering him on had the CCC2 project worked as expected (basically, no input lag and no glitches). It’s just unfortunate that the technical aspects weren’t implemented to the letter.
Wow, if that’s an easy combo something must be wrong with me. :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

I agree with this, simply because with his other tools he still fails next to characters like chun and claw.
Its PSN, I can’t do ken’s jumping punch xx tatsu online.

jf.hp>back+hp> hp.sonic boom> f+hp
Jump in HP, standing HP, HP sonic boom, backfist. The backfist only connects in the corner, and will dizzy the opponent. Do it again and it’s ggpo.
I guess once you learn the timing of cancelling HP into sonic boom it’s easy.

Also, if know one is keeping tabs on the news, apparently college kids all over the country are in force over the tuition hikes. GET HYPE!
Anybody remember it in world warrior? It was GDLK. One of those things that slipped into the game without the developers catching it. It was the first time i ever figured out a combo that could re-stun you from a stun, before i ever knew that such a thing existed. I was playing on my snes, and was like “HOLY SHIT” when i did it one day while messing around. All you needed was to land one jump in attack and it was game over. It was the funnest TOD ever.
I started whoring it in my local bowling alley on a queue of people the next day, and got threatened and kicked off the SF2 cabinet within a half hour for being “cheap”. Within a week, everybody was using it…

you used to be able to put a sonic boom opener on that combo to make it 5 hits, so it would be
SB > jumping Hp > standing HP > SB > back fist
dont think its possible in hdr tho
Yep. I think you just have to use an LP boom on wakeup that’s timed to hit VERY deep. I think you can toss it so it just misses them on wakeup too, so it’s gone through and is travelling just behind them as they stand up, and then knock them back into it with the first couple of hits of the jump-in combo. That’s just if you want to be really nasty tho…

I’m not a serious guile player, but i would have thought the slowdown from so many consecutive fierces and special cancels and stuff would mess up the combo timing, but most of it is just HP anyway, so you could just mash the HP button. That’s all i used to do for it in world warrior. It was a really easy mode TOD combo. The only thing you had to worry about was cancelling into the boom quickly , and if you mashed it out, that was just down to joystick timing.
Maybe one of the other serious guiles like marsgatti or whoever could shed some light on how tricky it is in HDR?

oooooh I know that combo, I thought it was a combo with 4 fierce normals.

I have a much easier time doing the jf.hp>st.mp>boom>Backfist, but I think thats due to being able to use 2 buttons to combo the boom (mp+fp) making it easier. I dont ever see this combo online, TBH jump in cr.mp>hk.fk seems much more dependable, but I am no godlike Guile (yet) so take that with a grain of salt.
I love using Jumping roundhouse, Standing fierce xx Roundhouse flashkick. It’s not as damaging, or as easy, or as dependable, but it’s WAY cooler

Pfft silly combo.
:u::hk::d::lp::d::lp:standing:lp:xx:hk:Scissorkick with bison is the greatest combo ever.
nope, neutral jump fierce, st.strong, neutral jump fierce with blanka is the coolest combo.
