Really interested in SFxT but not sure if its worth the buy

I wanna believe it man. SFxT has a lot of people online right now actually and I’m surprised. We’ll see how many people stay around for TTT2. The door’s been opened, I hope people walk through after they put their foot through the door. 2012 is a great year for FGs

Already have Tekken Tag tournament 2 paid for and picking it up in the morning on Tuesday. Saved for 3 months to get it. And the DLC isn’t really DLC. Its a time exclusive for about a month if you preorder, and then on October 11th a patch will come out that unlocks it for everyone. They also annouced they wouldnt be putting any DLC out for it.

20 bucks is alot if you have to pay bills. Gaming isn’t expensive, just easy to waste money on.

Most people who love SFxT are the ones who hate SF4/UMvC3 and absolutely love the fact that there’s no comeback mechanics in SFxT. If you are one of them then you’ll probably like SFxT too. But be warned that the Tekken elements in this game is superficial and most Tekken fans do not like this game.

you can’t go wrong with waiting! it will be $5 in no time, especially with how capcom does business. if you don’t like it, it was only $5. as a college student myself, i don’t think $20 is a good buy for this game, either. don’t fall for amazon’s deal. if you’re lucky enough to have a friend that buys games you’re interested in, you can do the borrowing thing.
as for DLC, yeah. they always do that >.< just hope you don’t want it that badly.

I heard it’s much cheaper now, so there’s not much of a risk involved. In my case I played a “test” version first and then purchased the game when I find it enjoyable.

I couldn’t even get past the first stage in SFxT tonight, because fight request kept finding me matches.

SFxT has plenty on players online.

And, when the Vita version + balance patches drop, the number will increase (go-go cross platform play)

No, you misworded that last sentence. Tekken players won’t like their characters in here because they don’t translate well, and how can you expect to? IT’s a 2D plane. They brought over some moves and retained some essence of these characters but ultimately nobody should expect them to play like their Tekken counter parts.

I can’t wait to see the Tekken x Street Fighter stuff. What are they going to do against side stepping and 360 directional plane for fireballs? Hella crazy to think about and jumps being so short. There won’t be anybody jumping 50ft in the air in 3D to cross up shenanigans that’s for sure.

If you are really interested then it is really worth the buy.

I like it a lot and play on PC.

Tekken Tag 2 should keep you satisfied.
If all the gems were free there would be no problem but you have to pay for better/useful gems which uter bs no way round it.
You can’t pic or choose which dlc characters you want it’s all or nothing which is also pretty stupid.
Stages and music are bad.
Character diversity is great overall.
On a technical fighting game scale this game is awesome. Equal to or not superior to ssfiv
Severe lack of fan service (I don’t mean huge boobs etc  ) lack of music remixes, lack of stages from the two different source material and the rival battles don’t really live up to the hype, when ryu meets kazuya in game…it’s pretty boring but the end battle conversations are nice.

If you have money to spend and don’t mind the bs dlc sure it’s great, buy it. But if you can’t don’t bother and enjoy Tekken Tag 2.

I haven’t paid for a single gem, and I beat people’s asses online just fine.

So, I guess there IS a way around it, huh?

That’s the magic of DLC ladies and gentlemen.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BUY IT FOR YOUR DISC TO FUNCTION.

OMG.

The only advice i can give you, is to try to play it (rent it, or borrow a copy from a friend) before buying, try to find if you like it or not, many people can tell you 100 reasons why it is worthy, and others can give you 100 why is not.
In the end try to form your own judgment.

I completely agree with Hecatom!
above all only you can decide.
I for one took it seriously at first – got angry – now I play for fun and have a lot of fun; I’ve actually gotten a lot better because of it.

I say its worth it. You can just ignore the DLC and do just fine.

I recommend it; if you like a fighter with solid fundamentals and no proper comeback mechanic to screw you over, get it. I feel this game really rewards smart play more than some other fighting games out right now.

Damn, I was going to post exactly that lol.

But yeah, that’s pretty much what it comes down to. Try it for yourself above all else.

This game is fun, it’s characters are appealing. The combat is rewarding, and online works really well. I have a lot of fighting games in my collection and this is the one I keep coming back to. The DLC felt kind of worth it, it was the limited edition copy I bought that was crap. It had gems that I don’t care about, a comic booklet that should have been bigger and wasn’t even hard copy, and a tiny little, retardedly-hard to put together money box shaped like an arcade cabinet. 40 bucks for the game with all the characters is ridiculously cheap, just do it.

It’s worth it.
The Tekken characters don’t play like they’re in Tekken, but they’re wildly different from any Capcom styled fighters, and getting a handle on everything in the game equates to a fairly steady learning curve, which I like.
If you already gave up on SSF4 you won’t have to waste time unlearning SF4’s garbage mechanics.
You don’t have to buy any DLC gems. Not one. There’s plenty of them in game, and once you have the setup you like most, you won’t care less about what other people are using…you’ll concentrate on the fighting, which most people who still play the game figured out long ago.
DLC on disc wasn’t great, but the only people who haven’t gotten over it are usually under the complete delusion that they’ve never ever ever ever bought on disc DLC before SFxT. This is just the one they were pissed at.
The 12 characters were worth it to me, I don’t care how they’re delivered.
The online community is fairly active. I can fill Endless lobbies in minutes compared to waiting for 20 on SSF4AE or KOFXIII to get one person to join.

Ken saying “What??! It Missed?” when his SRK is blocked is enough fan service for me.

Bison’s taunt quote and Cody randomly saying “that’s what she said” also.
