This is the most infuriating aspect of the game. There are times when I do a throw and I can clearly see that my hands are touching the opponents body and I get hit anyway but I have gotten thrown out of attacks multiple times. I don’t get why some attack lose to others aside from high/low crush. At times it’s like people don’t even have hurtboxes at all. I’m not even talking about doing some really slow obvious attack that gets stuffed either. It’s maddening.
Space more and try not to get in the engagement game unles your poke hits. Stick and move until it hits. Did it hit? Yes. Keep hitting. No. Go back to movement and pokes until it does.
Sounds easy on paper. Not so easy when they’re in your face. Even worse when you’re against a wall. And if I hang back and block, they keep their pressure. Some lows aren’t really anything but some of these characters get full juggles from lows. I need my punishment moves at the ready in case they do something unsafe as well.
Playing Kaz, once I’m out of punch range, all I got usually is f+3, SS 3, back+3. EWGF would be a choice if I could consistently pull it off.
Depending on the character you have, some people have tools that, in a pinch, can smack people or forcefully create space to get them the hell away from you (like…hopkicks).
Some characters lack those tools when someone goes up under your chin, but in return either get GODLY pokes to make sure they stay the hell at your preferred range or badass movement options.
well if they’re in your face just bdc. Unless you’re facing a mishima that can WD then you’re fubard. If your against a wall just be patient and wait for a chance to ss. Also some characters have wall escape moves versus certain moves and strings. For example if you’re useing TO and kuni does a string that ends with her flip you can F+1+4 between the flip and the hit just before the flip. You’ll whiff but end up on the other side at their flank. They can block but you’ll get a free mix up and have them against the wall
