I saw this video of The Cool Kid93 that he can knock the enemy down then flip on the other side with 5hk
Then he’s able to do a wall jump cross up j.mk how does this work cuz I can’t get it to work…
Question: How many people plan to use V Trigger as mainly a footsie tool?
I was watching Lamerboi play and I noticed he did MK -> V-Trigger (and then maybe an EX follow up), which seems like a pretty solid / consistent way to get damage in. I feel like if you don’t have your opponent in the corner than V trigger is wasted most of the time anyway.
With one bar you can use EX Eagle Spike and switch sides, but that’s not that safe. The magic with his VT is that you can really control the pace of the game, so I prefer combo into a corner carry and use V-Trigger to keep pressure in these situations.
I’m surprised no one is talking about the ridiculous properties Rashid gets from Trigger. Anything that moves Rashid gets hella buffed.
With trigger active, he can score a full screen crossup jump-in.
His overhead, f+mp, and st. HK all get tremendous range buffs aswell
The second hit f+mp will hit full screen
st. HK hits almost full screen
Overhead hits midscreen
All ground spikes do 150 in trigger and go full screen, making his light ground spike the best option as it starts up the fastest.
Although his st. mp and st.mk do move Rashid forward a bit, they do not get buffed from trigger.
Also, all his mixers become horizontal, that go full screen
Keep in mind that Rashid must be within a certain range of his tornado to get the buffs.
This makes him extremely scary in the corner with trigger and I’ve just messing around with this for a few minutes.
Edit: His neutral jump also moves him forward a bit
With that said, let’s start utilizing and organizing material in other threads, such as the combo/tech and matchup thread, before this thread starts turning into a mess
Working through Rashid’s frame data. Can’t finish it tonight but I’ll try to get more of it done tomorrow (all of his non-command normals are done though, excluding active frames which I can’t really get through frame counting).
So to anyone who bought the collector’s edition or whatever version that has a book full of info on the new characters, can anyone confirm where Rashid is from? I’m really curious.
Rashid’s anti-SRK oki. Basically, you crush sweep at max range. Then, v-skill and do a very late QCB+LK. Also, if you have V-trigger I think you can make sweep completely safe by cancelling into it. Let’s you fish for crush counter knock downs. Gonna keep testing stuff in the lab while I figure this character out. Sub my page for future Rashid vids!
Yeah Hk.fireball cancels into roll. It goes faster and further than normal roll because you roll through the whirlwind. Pretty cool. Not sure if it has less recovery though. I’ve used it a few times to get in and throw, works well if you can tell your opponent isn’t gonna press any buttons.
AA Cr.mp xx hk tornado xx down+ mp+mk. If the tornado hits you get full combo(mp,cr.mk xx eagle spike), if blocked, its plus frames so you get a strike/throw mix up. Only way out is invincibility/v reverse.
Have anyone found a use for j. Lp and j. Mp being cancelable to divekick? You can cancel very late, so I found thatyou can see that it connects then cancel, and you will land meaty on them (ofc still punishable). I suspect it is meamt to be used with vtrigger: vtrigger, j. Through, hit mp air to air and cancel fast to hk or lk dive: you either stay on same side or cross under with vtrigger following you.
mp,crmk xx lpspin - not much damage but its safe on block (-2?) and on hit you get mix ups after - throw/slk counter hit into crmk xx lpspin and start the process again.
You can land normally with Rashid’s dive kick if you space it right, leaving you +3 on block. Whether it’s practical to get in an actual match is another story though.
I think unless you are gonna get the kill, it’s worth saving until you get in the corner. Lp and mp spinning mixer have awesome corner carry, so if you’re midscreen it will take you there, then you can v trigger and hopefully score another combo.
I think Rashid’s v trigger is one of the most interesting tools in the game so far, and I think once we learn how to space it correctly and get good mix ups out of it, it’ll be definitely worth saving for the corner.
T.Hawk’s EX Dive had the same thing in USFIV, and there you could find some neat set-ups into it. In SFV I’m afraid CC sweep might be the only reliable option for that. I assume this doesn’t work on hit, only on block?
It works on hit too but you can’t follow-up with anything. Anything that’s fast enough doesn’t combo and anything that could combo isn’t fast enough.
Maybe there’s set-ups from it on hit though but I haven’t fully explored it yet outside of checking how it is on block. I’m not very good at finding things (I only found this by complete accident during the last Beta).
