Rashid General Thread: Desert Storm - second new character

Most of the stuff in these vids are legitimate. There are a few things he gets away with, but for the most part its solid.

He has solid frame traps and good mobility.

His spinning mixer being -2 makes people want to press buttons/throw after it, so they get taged with the EX after. Not something you want to do all the time, but the fear of ex can lead to free pressure if they are scared to press buttons after. Conditioning/risk/reward ftw.

I think it’s supposed to be “parkour rashid”.

Someone made a comment… somewhere… that these costumes are for use in the story. I can absolutely see this being the case, especially after the cinematic story trailer. Mika and Gief have similarities between their costumes and the trailer shows them in the ring together. The still image shows Chun in her cop outfit. Rashid and Laura look like casual clothes. I can see these fitting into a story mode cinematic and not being expressly designed as outfits to be sold as DLC. They don’t seem interesting or polished enough to be complete outfits for sale.

There’s a drawing of Chun fighting Vega with her cop outfit skin in the latest story update. Confyshid can clearly fit in. Same as general Cammy, cop Chun, flashback Nash, pro-wrestling gief/mika, beachy laura and so on.

Beta is up, who’s working on Rashid? About to take a break from Bipson and try him some more.

Haven’t really played since Beta 1 or 2 (So I don’t know if this is newly changed or if it was changed in earlier betas), but it seems you can’t combo CC s.HP to HK whirlwhind anymore. Also, it seems CH 2nd hit c.HP causes crush counter now, same animation as s.HP.

2nd hit only? That’s seems…specific

His CC combos are really lacking outside of the corner

I don’t understand what I should do from CC s.HP without meter now. You can do, like… c.MK to QCF+LP? Point blank you might be able to do another s.HP into QCB+MK or HK, but that’s it. Unless you do something with the roll kick I guess.

2nd hit of c.HP has way greater range than the 1st one, so I guess it’s not as unlikely as it seems (Which might also be new now that I think about it).

After the roll kick can you not do something after it?

so is you expect a far CC you can do roll, link Cr.lp into MK Twister (unmash if near corner to get the ex or super extension)

For DP punishes do f+mp (1 hit) xx HK spire or ex spire

ST.HK gets you the same combo but is much slower so harder to land.

Only in the corner you can do a variety of things in the corner from it, I’ll have to look up if any of the cooler ones are viable now with the cc changes.

As I suspected nothing mid screen then.

I failed to link anything after CC s.HP xx Roll, but maybe I was jsut being too optimistic with my follow-up attempts.

yeah only light attacks work now, cause Rashid didn’t need to do damage to his opponents. Just tickle them 1000 times with tornados.

Seems they nerfed everything I liked about Rashid, so I’ll probably not play him anymore when the game is released. I really don’t like a single character right now, F.A.N.G is my only hope. And I bet they’ll release him in this beta and ruin any hype I had left for the main game :confused:

Finally played a bit in the beta 4, I’m starting to “get” how to play Rashid.

Some super super early thoughts on some matchups
If some gifted player already has some mu specific tech please share

Zangief - Rashid might actually be quite good vs the Russian, with MK and HK whirlwind being 2 hit to deal with the armored sHP, and all the different arcs can make it painful for him to get in. At the distance where he can jump the MK one he can’t jump the HK one, throw some LK ones too to keep him in check from advancing in the ground ad be careful of the distances… until he gets v-trigger it seems he has a haaaard time getting in.

Nash is extremely hard… he outranges all rashid’s pokes, his fireballs work better and are hard to punish. I didn’t really understand how am I suipposed to approach this matchup. I’m sure I’m missing lots of things, but it seems to be the hardest mu so far

Bison - I can’t figure how to play this guy. He’s super slow but his buttons and the blast are gdlk. Even the games I won it was more me being random/lucky/whatever, but I have no idea what Rashid’s proper strategy would be. Anyone?

Chun Li is difficult to cause of her good buttons, but you can sorta keep her out, ranged LK/MK whirlwind mix is very nice when she hasen’t a super in stock because it can intercept her v-skill and her normal jump is totally dealable with. Absolutely don’t get cornered. Chun’s wall jump can actually escape Rashid’s V-Trigger, but you can punish her for that if you expect it

Ryu - a fun if fair fight, there can be a sort of fireball war (which Ryu wins but he risks more against Rashid’s vskill)

Birdie - extremely annoying to fight, but still I’m not used enough to his gimmicks and that might skew my perception on the match

Cammy - didn’t fight good ones, but one thing I found is that her left/right flip>dive mixup was easy to intercept with sLK, 3f and very good hitbox for that situation

Karin - probably didn’t fight good ones either, her frame traps are scary but I didn’t have much problems in the neutral game

Necalli - when I let him in I got destroyed, seems a “keep carefully outranging him” kind of fight

Vega, Ken, Laura, Mika, Dhalsim either too few of those or no good ones, no opinion on these matchups

EDIT: I feel retarded in saying that but I have a hard time cancelling f+MP first hit, I get the cancel like 30% of the time and that hinders my CC sHK followups. Either the cancel window is quite small or I have to get a new pair of hands :disappointed:
couldn’t really practice in training mode either because it was like 2-3 tries then A NEW CHALLENGEAAOOARGH

just cancel it asap. Just feels weird at first. the hit stop window is small even though the hitstun is large.

Oh I think Rashid might have by far the worst super in the game. Its range is ass, and comboing into it outside of the corner is very situational. Even supercancelling it from the first hit of LP spinning mixer doesn’t get you close enough in many instances. Subsequent lp mixer hits should be supercancellable, or at least the super should have a bit more horizontal range. In a game where all the characters can reliably combo into super anywhere and from various starting ranges this stuff makes Rashid seem gimped.

I was able to do CC stand HP into crouching HP xx qcb MK. I don’t know if that’s new in this beta but it’s there at point blank range.

I’ve gotten alot of mileage from it as an anti air. it blows up cross up attempts too.

I agree tho, its range is butt and hitconfirming into it midscreen is kinda tough.
