Fraga’s computer chrashed so we weren’t able to get the full results he was able to rememeber top 4 thougth if anybody remembers the 2 people that got 5 let me know
so if he cant remember it really shouldn’t count to be on the safe side plus we were suppose to start on a set date. also with all the bracket issues i think it shouldn’t count because it seems very unprofessional
i dont know what bracket issues your talking about since only 4 people and 2 bye’s were added to make sure everybody who came down to play were able to participate, its done its in tourneys more often than people realize so nobody should have a problem with that(ECT,GameUnicon,NEC). However the fact that we dont know the 2 people who placed 5th is a valid point. To the point of starting at a set there was no set time, fraga decided to start earlier than usual even thougth the tourne ussually starts after 11:30 wich should defenatly be the starting point. If you would be so kind as to update the first post with official start times and point system it would be apreciated by all
Also, once a tournament starts, there really shouldn’t be any last minute additions. It just screws up everything. If you’re late, you shouldn’t be put in as an after thought. Otherwise, placing issues like this occur. That being said, it should also not be villified too much. It’s a one dollar tournament after all.
just to chime in, it’s not the 1 dollar tournament so much as it is past allegations adding up. Be they true or not, is not my opinion nor does my answer hold any weight in either end of the argument, but one thing IS for certain these allegations have been made (very serious ones i might add) and it seems a repeat situation happened last night. Whether it was by chance or not, the focal point of any of this friction isn’t so much the one dollar tourney as it is the condensed grief of certain players in the community.
In any case, I think it ought to be wise to just use last Friday as a lesson learned and seek to prevent any of the complaints/problems/drama from happening again. To do this, we need to take into account the facts that singles take longer to run than teams, there are a multitude of games that want to be run, and we need to get the tournaments done at a reasonable hour. All of this is so we can choose to drive home with the risk of falling asleep behind the wheel rather than because the tournaments ran until 3 in the morning. Despite the countless accounts of sheer awesome that happen every week, I’m sure others who might be looking to drop by for a little bit have other things to do.
Now, onto my suggestions. This entire post might seem pretty obvious, but they are essential in my mind.
-Run two tournaments simultaneously at any time (i.e. SFIV and T6, GG and MB)
-One or more respective persons per tournament in charge of brackets, money, etc. (Since two tournaments will be running, we need some form of efficiency when it comes to reporting the results).
-Post results on SRK/DL/TZ/MB/8WR/WHATEVER as soon as the tournament ends so information is not lost.
-No late signups
Since we don’t like stragglers messing with brackets in any shape or form (even if afterward they are for all intents and purposes correct), we should decide times for tournament sign-ups to end and the tournaments to start. I propose…10:00pm and 11:00pm. These times might work for the time being due to our relatively low numbers, but hopefully our scene will grow.
i agree mindgame if you want you can run guilty I will be running SFIV and the other two spots are up for grabs but everyone one can agree that the tourney will be starting at 11 if thier any problems with this please let ME know and also post any ideas on this thread.
Why don’t we just do ranking battles once a month and make it a $5 tourney at the end of the month. The ranking system will only count for the tourney at the end of the month so that way people can plan ahead and it could be alot easier for the people running it. We should still have the $1 tourney’s every week but the ranking system will only be recorded at the end of the month tourney. What does everybody think about that?
So who’s everyone looking to be in Super? Are you changing your main, stickin’ & looking forward to buffs/nerfs of other chars, or picking up secondaries?
I for one am looking forward to Cody, 100% him and no one else, haha. Makoto though, depending on how they do her, I’d be interested too…and then there’s Ryu and Abel who both seem to get interesting changes (and Abel getting the buffs he needs, finally!). I’d like to stick Ryu but he seems to be worse in the next game, but I just want him to go even with the whole or 99% of the cast, like the ideal Ryu should, but the new 2-hitting medium and fierce SRK seem to be a nerf more than a buff 'cause you could just cr mk, lp/hp SRK any armor situation like Balrog EX Dashes, so eh
I’m looking forward to playing any of the 3rd Strike characters (if they ever announce them). I wonder what they’re going to do for T-Hawk and Cammy, seeing as how those are probably my two favorite ST characters and the one already in SFIV isn’t exactly the best she could be. Also, no more trades into whatever the shotos/Sagat want will take a fair amount of bullshit out of the game, since it’ll keep people honest about whether they REALLY want to mash out an SRK. In any case, I’ll still be working on footsies and not jumping like an idiot.
Also, Ranbats this week sounds fantastic. I’ll run GG.
