Playing random will NOT make you learn more about the gameās match ups. If you go random and get a character you have no idea how to play, youāre just gonna get your ass kicked. If you really wanna learn about the matchups, go read each characterās strategies and learn their moves/combos first before going random.
I like to random select sometimes, when I want to relax. I think the best part about it is NOT learning more about other characters imo, though it is possible. The best part is that it gives you a chance to expirement with characters you would normally not choose, resulting in building interest in them. lets take viper for example, before random select I never bothered selecting her, but once I used her a couple of times, I became interested in learning her because I enjoyed her play style, though I am still very much a beginner with her.
Lol the same thing happened to me as well , only that it was three times in a row instead of four and instead of Fuerte , it was Dan . How awesome is that to be Dan 3 times in a row :pleased: ?
Random select sometimes does not seem so random. I did it 10 times and got these results.
Abel, Abel, Sagat, Sagat, Viper, Abel, Bison, Fuerte, Fuerte, Sagatā¦I know it is only 10 times but Abel and Sagat 6/10?
Or learn by playing. Which is better than learning by reading. The internet isnāt the only teacher broāitās that experience!
Is was a bit burnt out after playing at our nationals and do this all the time.
Itās a real good way to find a new character to tinker with, keep things from getting stale, play random matchups youād never see or find a new playstyle.
Itās also cool when someone getās your main as you can try all things that piss you off and see what they come up with.
Makes me wish every game had random select.
I love Random Select, too. Admittedly part of that is being really burned out playing hundreds of matches with the same main in Championship, most of the time I mix it up a lot more in Player Match nowadays. When I was playing the original SF2 games, I had no concept of āmainingā a character and just played all of them for fun.
lol I would complain about Fuerte when I got him randomly too until I decided to check out his movelists a bit and see what works. Getting wrecked with a character you have no idea how to play can really spark you to want to know how that character is viable in-match and begin to check into them. Now, when I get Fuerte, I itch for knockdowns. lol
Iāve been getting Gouken a lot lately >_< Thought his anti-air options were complete trash until I stumbled across c.fierce. XD
But yeah, one big thing that it has the potential to do is motivate you to respond to similar scenarios in different ways. Like, I would say my movement has increased greatly from starting random. Backdash is gdlk.
