I know I’m in the minority here, but I am really sick of rage comics because they just aren’t funny anymore. Formula: Everyday thing coupled with stock images. Urgh.
Preach it. I ranted about this a while back myself because there’s nothing else to do on the internet.
If I wasn’t lazy I’d be really hipster and go back even further and claim I was the first one to complain!
Yo, I was complaining on the internet before there even was an internet.
It’s such a waste of creativity as well. Write and/or show the story in your own personal way. Not with mostly stock images. I’m not sure how some can produce and digest quite many of those things.
I guess the initial intention of humor is an attractive way to tell stories or ideas so they more likely get a positive response (at least in the parts of the internet they are born). Also they are “memes”, having groups of people online that enjoy these things, so usually they’re easy to produce and there’s easy attention gratification (the same when simply copy/pasting the image>“hey we find the same things funny yeah!”). I would think the use of those limiting comics should quickly be noticed as lacking in humor, creativity, and technique… (actually I no longer really think that but it is probably something to think about and consider). Now if only they could put that spark of creativity and effort in the right direction.
