How is this hard to understand? “Jap” has been used in a derogatory manner toward Japanese people for decades jst because you can’t figure how removing a syllable from a word turns it into a slur doesn’t suddenly make it not a slur.
It is not so much derogatory, but it is demeaning. No insult is meant, but it is disrespectful to say jap in most cases is. Like referring to a French person as Frenchy.
On SRK, there seems to be a little leeway with it, specifically when referring to Japanese arcade sticks. The topic comes up so much, the term jap sticks is thrown out without any negative connotation, and there is some crossover; but I agree that it is disrespectful the majority of the time.
Not to be a dick, but can we have more pictures and less discussions about why “Japs” is an offensive slur? <3
