Anti hype?! WHAT! Justin Wong in Marvel was SO hype…AE, KOF and Melee was hype as well and about that “nerf gen” thread…LOOOOOOOOOOL you cannot be serious
To the OP
its very easy for your hype meter to die off when youre only sitting behind a screen
You get your ass over to the tournament venue before you try to tell us what is hype and what isnt
Scrub…
Don’t expose yourself anymore. What we see isn’t worth talking too much about.
“Hype” isn’t a tangible thing to measure. And watching from home isn’t real hype is it? Similar to watching an event in person, say sports or sick shit like sumo wrestling. So any soapbox, get a blog, young man blogger who only watches and plays armchair quarterback after its over - as if his insights are similar to anyone else, without having talked to anyone else about them first to maybe see if he doesn’t have a good case and just has petty complaints.
How do you know about the fighting spirit without having fought Daigo or something. and he never says anything, nor will he have to, to you. It can all be said by the game he played or you played together. A good way to maybe play Daigo with less people all trying to do that too, could’ve been SF2 ST side tournaments for years. Stuff nobody watched.
Blanka is the most coward or Hakan. They have “coward crouch” moves. Its a fighting game. Everybody fights. Not Honda Honda maybe, but eventually they have to also.
“HAHA lololol?”
In even 2 years you might look back and laugh at this post you made. In the meantime several people with laugh about it. Don’t take offense, as its laughter you will very likely engage with too.
Spelled Phoenix wrong. /good for internet, point out 1 thing spelled wrong. “EMP Hype Destroyer” nickname coming to a chat soon. Pay me royalties for its 1st instance in written record!
I think this year was pretty darn exciting. Pretty much Justin Wong made Evo exciting this year for me. I don’t even play UMVC3 but that was just pure entertainment. It was almost like a movie.
Nonono we’re not doing that e-sports food sponsorship.
For only 25 cents a play, you too can sponsor JWong’s eating habits!
Look out for the sexy, new, svelte, champion of Evil Geniuses at a tournament near you!
This is the long version of SRK’s tried and true staple “______ you gay” or instant post backfire. So maybe Snapback…
Fat people prevent e-sports from being sports, the game is mental and as long as you can control it in some way, you can play and even compete.
Who won KOF this year? I didn’t catch the stream, I also heard Bala didn’t go this year which sucks.
You really did yourself a disservice by skipping UMVC3 finals. All the hype was there.
Aww shit! He got Akuma-hax’d.
Nevermind it hurts my brain too hard to understand the OP’s though process. it really does.
Pardon my mashing of SF and KOF finals which only peeps who watched and followed both can fully relate to, and may annoy people who only watched one about the mixed refreneces… sorry in advance
Arcade Shock’s Reynald won it coming back from the Loser’s Bracket defeating
- Romance (the year long rivalry in almost every finals were Bala isn’t in it) coming to a head
- Verna (runback from the pools’ best kof match imo… where Reynald was sent to loser’s)
- Tokido (which makes tokido priviledged to have fight both SF and KOF champs of the past 2 years namely, Infiltration, MadKOF, Xian and Reynald)
- MadKOF (surprised that he was sent to loser’s by a Virtual Unkown but Reynald defeating him from last year’s evo was sweet, had Daigo defeated Infiltration in SF Loser’s later that night the feeling would be similar or maybe if PR Balrog did plow through Infiltration’s hakan it’s the same aura as well for me)
- and Woo… I dunno where this guy came from but he is an enigma, blew up Year long champion in the KOF tourney scene Romance the day before, then blew up the Top 2 Cafe ID guys, had Reynald in the ropes for two rounds before mounting the comeback.
What most people don’t know is that the KOF Top 8 ALSO had a Version of the SF4 Finals in Tokido vs Xian
Though Tokido blew him up there, Xian would get even with Tokido Later that Day and actually close out the event
Which Makes Tokido part of the opening (vs MadKOF) and closing (vs Xian) matches of the day.
PS in KOF…
I was rooting for Reynald AND Xian (The Two Champs) in their respective matches and hoping they would meet later in the brackets…
only for Tokido to eliminate Xian and Reynald would have faced him instead.
But for me that’s fine since the KOF Tokido vs Reynald added to the story (at least for me) of them meeting up into the SF4 finals.
Some players do things so sick they should/could be paid for it
But the sickest players don’t play to get paid, and don’t get paid to play.
The word “hype” is fucking shitting on this community. This community isn’t about hype, its about fighting games. It just so happens that these games get us very excited.
If you think this shit is unhype, then you are 6 shades of stupid. JWong was the original anti-hype. He could outlame a horse with no legs and bore more than watching paint dry.
Until you’ve sat through a bunch of CvS2 matches with Wong in it, you, all of you young sirs, do not know “unhype.” And fuck you all, I like lame unhype shit.
PREACH IT HAX. anyone who thinks the top players traveled to EVO to entertain ppl is just stupid. they’re there to win. whether you’re entertained or not is irrelevant to them
I had fun at evo, taking pictures with cosplayers.
The SF4 matches were quite intense.
Wong’s run was very hype. I can understand your beef with Zero and Derpgil though
That said. I had a shitload of fun with Divekick and Skullgirls.
How much money do people get from winning major tournaments like EVO anyways? i cant see someone supporting themselves by playing video games. And if they can, i would imagine their quality of life is very shitty.
I watched all the UMvC3 finals, which absolutely lived up to the hype. I thought this year was going to be awful for the exact reasons that OP said, but I was DEAD WRONG. Justin Wong fighting up from losers bracket, down in games at times to favored players, then to make it all the way to the very last game of the tournament was quite a spectacle. I was on the edge of my seat. It was a heartbreak though to see it end on such a sloppy game.
For SF4 I kind of agree, the matches were hit and miss. The Rog vs. Infiltration match was definitely a highlight though and I was actually sad to see him lose (I don’t usually root for Rog). He was looking better than I’ve ever seen any non-asia player. I shut it off and went to bed during the Tokido/Infiltration match though. That was absolutely painful to watch - Akumas hopping around the screen like bunnies.
When people make threads like these do they expect that people will reply with “Yes” or “Agreed” or “Wow I never noticed evo 2013 was anti-hype, thank you for pointing that out”
faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag
Woo is a Japanese player. Just hardly anyone plays KoF 13 at arcades in Japan due to how expensive it is, You only get turn outs on free play days.
