How do u get the wall bounce off passion press midscreen?
I’m starting to think about trying to learn another character alongside Mika, who I’ll keep as main. Is Alex a good choice for a similar play style? Gief looks too slow

Personally, I don’t think he’s like Mika really. I see Alex as being more like a Bison-style grappler - big buttons, big traps. Gief is certainly closer in archetype to Mika than Alex is.
You should just try him out though. Do his trials, fool around in training mode, do easy survival, then you should at least have an idea of how he works.
The way I describe it to people is Nash and Bison had a kid and went ‘when you grow up your going to be the most grouchy american grappler in the whole wide world.’ A lot of his strategies are similar to them.
My suggestion is mostly to take inventory of what aspects of R.Mika you like the most and then focus on what numbers 2 and 3 are. For example a lot of Juri players do not have their main character right now, and have had to pick ‘second best.’ For me a lot of what I like about Juri is her kicks and her varied attack vectors, so I picked Chun Li since their specials are similar in terms of usage even if her normals are not, but they certainly are closer than most. I also have R.Mika who lets me satiate the part of her that ‘loves corner mix ups and control.’ Others have gone to Rashid, since he doesn’t have to care about his spacing and has a tool for any point, a feature people who played Juri or Cody love. They might also have picked him because he has the most spinny shenanigans.
Zangief has a lot of normals that are similar to R.Mika, but if you do not like the speed, alex and laura are going to be ‘second best’ in terms of normals. If you like the corner mix up stuff more Zangief or Laura are better than alex if you want a second grappler. If you like the set ups more you’ll be better off with laura.
If grappling is second or third in your list of reasons why you like Mika I’d suggest starting working from there. The reason I suggest this is if you focus on the first thing you’ll end up trying to look at your main character too much while not considering the things that really make you tic. You might not consider a character that amplifies your other strengths in a real way and makes your repertoire more complete as a result, too busy focusing on for example command grabs. Necalli and Birdie have a command grab, but they play nothing like R.Mika. But if you like certain things about her, like strong anti air, or her ability to be strong at various spacing levels, you might actually like Necalli, and it might so happen that you can find a happy in between of your favorite thing of playing Mika and your second favorite thing.
Sorry if this rambling got confusing, but I hope it helps ~_~
AA is a must for me, and I love command grab shenanigans when I can pull them off. So maybe I’ll give Necalli a try. Thanks man.
How do you guys deal with pressure/ closing the gap.
I just fought a Laura player in a set and had difficulty getting her off of me. A lot of my jabs were counter hit, and I really couldn’t get any offense going.
As for getting in, how exactly do you fight characters with better buttons such as Chun li. She has massive range on her normals. I’m trying to figure out a way to get past her fireball, and st.HP without jumping. Other than that Laura had some normals with range that I just couldn’t advance on. Any help would be appreciated.

Grappler-life.
You have two options when getting in on anyone - regardless of fireballs or good pokes:
[] bulldogging
[] go ham
I’d advise learning both styles as going Marn on someone will work really well if their defense has holes in it and if they let you get away with a lot of jump-ins, great. Bulldogging is difficult to learn if you normally play zoning characters (or characters that can zone). My advice would be to study Fuudo a bit - he has a really good handle on Mika’s neutral tools.
If you’re up against someone like Laura who wants to be on top of you, it’s kind of even. You want to be close, but obviously on your terms. You need to know how she works so you can effectively block until it’s your turn. It’s really that simple. SFV characters don’t generally have much in the way of high-low mix-ups or generic can openers - it’s all about those traps. You just need to know when it’s safe (or safe-ish) to press buttons to take your turn back. Don’t let your opponent steal turns.
Fuudo is on the latest episode of BeasTV, so be sure to check that out for some ideas.

Thanks, I was watching a lot of Marn, and forgot Fuudo played the character as well. Will be studying and practicing against Laura pressure in the meantime.
This is great to hear I am trying to have a secret pocket R.Mika I truly believe she is so underrated. I am now going to look try to find her best bnb’s and look at which pokes are the best.
I want to know more about her weakness.
checked out her combo page and did not see the bnb’s on the first page ?! lol what are her bnb’s
I found this…

is this good still ?
Laura is like Mika, but requires more brains. Whoever goes nuts first has the edge, but Mikas a lot easier to go dumb with, and muuuuuuch safer.
I say this as a Laura and Mika player.

No options for wake-up into pressure. Mika has to work hard to get into range.
I’ve got the beginnings of that sort of thing in the Lab Notes thread, but I’m still working out details on my end, so there’s a lot missing at this point. Just watch some videos if you need inspiration - her combos are pretty basic. The tricky bits are resets and VT setups.
The Rindoukan Bible is what allowed me to be decently competitive during SFIV as Makoto.
As soon as I got SFV, I went looking for the closest character possible to her. I first went to Laura, but felt she was more like Abel. Settled on Mika, and now, I’m still playing like a scrub, but steadily improving. Let me third/fourth the notion that a Rindoukan Bible for Mika would totally be something I’m on board with. We can even call it Mika’s Little Red Book.
What normals or moves can she combo into her super? Seems like she can’t like the rest of the cast but hopefully I’m wrong. Also I can’t get Her fHP to combo into get wingless airplane, what’s the timing for that?
I’m pretty sure only heavy punch (irt super canceling.) Go to the 10th trial in the challenge mode and you can watch it being executed there via the exhibition function. As for Lady Mika any before the frames where the opponent is falling in their arc. You can even hit them a few frames after they start falling. The button push is very lenient, therefore, since the arc of Lady Mika’s hit is so long. You got at /least/ a second to react. Maybe a little less, but its so lenient that you can react to it generally without problem, just try to do it as soon as you register you hit it and you can get them with heavy wingless no problem.
Mika can combo to her super from her target combo, s.mp, s.hp, and a grounded hit from charged s.hk I believe. None of her specials can combo to super.
I’m quite sure she can cancel her c.HP into Peach Assault as well. I believe this has been discussed already somewhere else.
idk about cancelling c.hp, but I believe you can v-trigger from c.hp and then just do your super. The v-trigger would wiff, but you would get a safe super.
You can cancel jabs into super as well.
