Yeah, that’s a free AA.

Just thinking outloud, Mika buffs I’d like to see somewhere down the line:

T.MK having the extended range it had in Beta 2. This would help tremendously against Karin and Chun with their amazing pokes.

V-Skill adds Super or V-Trigger meter. I would trade getting buffs for command grab damage for this and it would give your opponent more incentive to come at her. Because who cares if she buffs grab damage when she can’t get in on Chun or Karin?

st.HK (charged and uncharged) becomes an overhead. The charged version is already really easy to blow up and the uncharged version was given more negative frames on block. They can make the uncharged version unsafe if they got super and I think that would be fine.

A better crossup. j.LK is okay but if they very slightly move the crossup will completely whiff unlike every other crossup in the game. I can take or leave this one because her body splash might come in handy in such situations.

Can zangief v-skill on frame 1 as a ‘kinda’ reversal?

In ranked matches I used Chunli against Zangief. But put him in training mode w/ Mika & Chun. I didn’t think to test his V-skill. Sorry

P.S
I lost all Rasheed and Chunli matches in amazing fashion. lol please advise… thanks

Didn’t fight enough Chun’s so I can’t offer much. It’s a tough match. Thank god for EX Peach.

I’ve fought a couple of Rashid’s and they all seemed to know their shit. I did not get a chance to get a runback with Wolfkrone’s Rashid unfortunately. Basically, I walked in, pre-emptively tried to block in case he does a random Dive Kick or that flying kick, neutral jump to bait him. All of his Kick moves are unsafe on block and you can punish them with Sweep. I remember a Rashid knocked me down in the corner and did his V-Trigger and I was able to do wakeup EX Peach and hit him out of it. A lot of fun matches against that character.

I rarely ever have a super loaded because I rely a lot on EX Peach to get through zoning/pokes.

The only 2 Mika’s I ran into had 20+ win streaks… they also lagged like a bitch.

Since the change to st.MK, the other gap closer I have been relying upon is charged st.HK.

Mikas dynamic has changed with f.HP and how we should exploit people who love to Neutral jump command grabs.
I found new utility in the mic buff “only” when I’m going to use charged HK to deliberately have my opponent block. The point is to do a “normal” throw after the block stun and “NOT” a command grab. Now, because you have the mic, your normal throw does EX Typhoon damage; but that isn’t the point right now. IF you conditioned them correctly and they don’t neutral jump to punish you, 3 scenarios will take place, 2 of which you can severely punish them, given the considerable buff of f.HP (Lady Mika).

Should they block charged HK, here is how you should proceed:

#1 The opponent blocked.

You can throw them w/ buffed damage. “IF” they tech, this means the next time you put them in block stun with charged HK, you should HP/EX Command grab. Unlike SF4 option selects, pressing throw in SF5 stops you from blocking and forces you to stand and throw if you are crouching. Under these conditions proceed to use her BNB: st.MP > HP > Booty (or) command Grab

#2 The opponent jumped, after charged HK block-stun.

Oh no! You lost a (buffed) normal throw. But guess what?- the key to this is your f.HP. A normal throw does not have the recovery frames of a cmd.grab - and with the buff of f.HP you can “Lady Mika” their neutral jump as you recover from your whiffed normal throw. So, we have Lady Mika (f.HP) > Wingless Airplane.

This is the true benefit of the new f.HP. I consider it an option select, of sorts. I use the term loosely

#3 The opponent is a shoto.

First confirm that Ken/Ryu or anyone else for that matter, doesn’t know how to punish a charged HK on reaction “BEFORE” you even land it. Then confirm that Ken/Ryu doesn’t know they can “DP punish” a charged HK after blockstun, before she can follow-up with MP > HP > Booty or anything else. First do a charged HK to put the shoto in block-stun, then just block and bait the DP. If its confirmed the shoto is ignorant, then proceed with steps outlined in 1 & 2

Yes, the dynamic of how we play Mika is changed. But let us take advantage of her new utilities.

Tested on Nash & Laura in a ranked match: Nash is a fast jump, and Laura is a floaty jump

Ideally, you want to use charged st.HK in the first round of conditioning and not follow-up with anything. This is conditioning so you will see how they react to st.HK . Just throw out charged Hard kicks the first round and do nothing. After you note their reactions, start punishing them after the HK in the 2nd round, only. They should not adapt fast enough, since you displayed no follow-ups in round 1. When they start adapting its too late.

Her charged HK is free to be crouch jabbed by everyone except Bison and Birdie. Plus they can AA with a Mexican Uppercut or Shoryu or jump over.

My friend came over and played me. I told him to block the st.HK and spam crouching LP with cammy, which i think is the fastest LP. I know its punishable on startup, but we are talking about after you land it, during the block-stun. The fact is, it is very punishable with punches or DP before you even land the hard-kick. But the implications after you land it, is insane. On Paper, what I said above looks good- but its just text book. Against experienced players, exercise HK with caution, and incorporate normal throws alot in your game, to bait a neutral jump and discern patterns. A neutral jump for Mika is a free f.HP and Wingless.

And I think it’s a pretty obvious move. It has more than enough startup to be reacted to. Hell, I was fighting day 2 Gief’s who were reacting to it with st.HP (which is armored).

Oh, against Gief, I’d not use it. I always had Chun against Zangief. st.HK all day, literally. Free Gief. It went something like…

st.HK,st.HK,st.HK,st.HK, oh he jumped… back.HK, st.HK,st.HK,st.HK, he jumped bk.HK. Oh SNAP! Im cornered. V-Skill- ChunLi fly! weeeee can’t catch me Zangief. Rinse and repeat.

I think Gief can punish blocked HK (uncharged) with his SPD. But I’m not 100% sure and didn’t get much of a chance to test.

Any grappler can command grab her uncharged HK- at point blank at least.

Depends on spacing. But I think at max range only Gief and Laura (with her EX Grab) could punish it.

what is a mexican uppercut? lol I was thinking El Fuerte isnt in the game. lol please tell me it doesn’t have anything to do with Laura

cr.HP but it can be applied to other AA normals like cr.MP. A lot of characters have good Mexican Uppercuts like Bison and Karin.

Honestly, I forgot about st.HP. Damn… Its safe to say, st.HP is the equivalent of (BETA3) f.HP, but lacks CC/juggle-state properties. The priority might be different though. Im not sure, how much st.HP trades. I remember it being good, but never did it, in favor of cr.MP for resets- But thanks for reminding me. Its like Cammy’s SF4 anti air, lol

Oh damn. Well Necalli has the mexican uppercut to rule them all. I hate his, since he can AA w/ it, then combo stomp after it for stupid dmg. lol

I find stand jabbing mika’s charged HK more reliable. At least thats what i was doing when i was playing Karin vs Mika offline. Charged HK feels like a quicker jump with less frame advantage. Just like any jump it can be useful unexpectedly but if someones expecting you to do it then it’s a free punish.

I feel your pain. Its bad when a good zoner is privy to all of MIKAs tools, and does not jump. bout the only thing you can do is change your jump-arc and bait a shoryuken/uppercut with down.HP (Divebomb) i think its called. The recovery is bad though. use st.HK & down.HP with caution!

note: NASH loves to Zone, and use his uppercut if you jump-in. I remember using MIKA’s Divebomb, and it beats it free. Perhaps MIKA’s divebomb beats all mexican uppercuts. Most likely won’t best any sort of special move though, just anti-air normals

Nice info with the f+HP guys. I tried doing it a few times as an AA, but I must’ve done it way too late expecting it to just magically beat opponents right in front of me in the air. I guess I gotta wait until the game comes out to make use of this.
