R.Mika General Thread: She's Stone Cold

I think it is possible that they would nerf the meter gain from it, which is honestly a bit too much compared to everyone else at this point at least from what i have seen, given that Ryu’s parry meter gain was nerfed.

From a functional standpoint, i cant really see the V-Skill being too good IMO. It seems to me that it takes a while for the buffs to kick in and i doubt that you will get the chance to do it regularly in real fight.

One more for the “hope not” group. I’m very interested in seeing how a grappler with a mechanic that actually encourages you to approach the grappler and/or punishes you for not approaching the grappler works out.

Thanks for that, I forgot to elaborate but pretty much laid it out. Everyone is in their right to play whoever they want however they want, but you kinda have to be a dick or a tryhard to mess with people’s chances to try out new characters at least for the sake of getting more info out on the public. This was my experience at fanexpo where I played against a few people and everyone simply kept picking ryu and playing good old SFII flowchart with me, even though I would boldly state that I had never used her before, assholes wouldn’t even let me button check. Pick bison or something, dammit XD.

Does her flying peach AA in this game like it did on Alpha 3?

When this happened to me at FanExpo, I picked Chun and returned the favour before going back to Mika.

Finally watched the video above.

  • At several points in the video, the R. Mika player was periodically using Shooting Peach at the mid range… he probably did it so that he could close the gap against the opponent. If the opponent jumped into the air, they probably would have crushed by R. Mika’s beautiful ass during the ordeal. Shooting Peach might be useful as a mobility option by itself, if the R. Mika player is savvy.

  • Exactly as @amrraed stated around 2:11… even so much as utilizing the V-Skill would increase the damage quite a bit. Because, that really was a big chunk of health disappearing… It might be okay if R. Mika can get at least two throw damage buffs, after knocking the opponent at about the full screen distance. For example, the R. Mika player could probably take advantage of Passion Rope Throw Forward (f+MP~MP) and then start the V-Skill from there to get the damage buffs.

  • Combo Scenario:
    st. HK xx(link)xx, st.LK xx(link)xx, st.MP, qcf+PP (EX Shooting Peach)

  • Be wary about the ranges of some of those combos and st. HK. If you’re going to use them, make sure you are hitting something. You don’t want the opposing to whiff punish you. At certain ranges, make sure you keep the combos relatively simple but also be sure to optimize the damage as much as possible while you’re in the heat of the moment.

  • I notice quite a few of R. Mika’s moves cause her to move quickly in a certain way. Check out her cr.HP for example towards… 8:16.

  • Perhaps R. Mika has a bit of comeback potential as well because of her V-Skill, but it would probably rely on her smacking the opponent a distance away before getting started on her momentum… and she would still have to land a regular throw or a command grab. Command grab range on R. Mika’s behalf seems a bit… wonky at times. As a grappling character, she would theoretically be able to whiff punish with command grabs a bit easily (But, it is also important to keep in mind that we don’t want to break the character either because her normals are already good as they are and the mix up potential she gets from her buddy Nadeshiko is already devastating to say the least (and we haven’t even gotten started on what combos are possible yet from Ms. Nadeshiko… but that’s a discussion for another time).

… We need more footage… more game play… more hands on activities for SFV…

But, in the meanwhile as we wait…

When I got to play her and fanexpo, I noticed that cr. HP had crazy fast startup but horrific recovery. I tried it under fireballs but I don’t think it goes under them, though cr. HK does for sure. Gaaaaahh I just want to get more time to play her. I’ll be spending my entire beta phase 2 time with her, I love the damn character.

Heads up folks!

Ton of Mika play going on right now… Will likely be uploaded to youtube later also.

One new thing I notice is the fact that she can use Passion Rope throw midscreen and use an Ex shooting Peach just after (that’s the only way to combo after the midscreen grab, as far as I know)

Yeah. Btw. I love how her pupils change as well in the alternate color outfit.

Loving the pink costume. <3

Ladies and gentlemen… Presenting… Rainbow Mika!
Rashid / Mika game play!!

Spoiler
  • As stated by @Angerfist62 the player can follow with EX Shooting Peach immediate after Passion Rope Throw.

  • 1:30 - When Nadishiko popped on the screen from the R. Mika’s V-Trigger, there was likely a chance for R. Mika to get a juggle or finish herself off (her mirror) with a Wingless Airplane.

  • 4:43 - There might be a chance that the command grab range is a tad better than it seems…

  • Forward+HP seem safe(ish) on block, depending on the spacing.

  • 5:46 - … Look at the damage on the command grab… R. Mika will mop the floor with yo’ ass even with one damage buff on the V-Skill…

  • Be cautious about using the V-Skill at mid range from the opponent in case they may try to jump over you.

  • Both players in the earlier matches use EX Shooting Peach on wake up a lot… the thing is… it has armored properties on start up and it appears to be safe(ish) on block as the R. Mika stops the rushing elbows on the second hit if the attack is blocked. I’d imagine that it is 0 or slight negative on block after the EX Shooting Peach.

  • 9:17 Reportedly, the st.HK drop kick is negative on block if it should be uncharged. But, even if it is uncharged… it still seems to cause a lot of problems on the opponent.

  • CA is not an instant grab yet players can still confirm into it. Players are also still free to use it as a block/whiff punisher.

  • 10:39 - Minor oversight… It seems like the pink R. Mika is punishing the blue R. Mika’s EX Shooting Peach with the command grab.

  • 10:45 - Eh… Even R. Mika’s f+HP causes her to move forward… she has so many attack that causes her to travel forward. We would like to encourage each other to take advantage of moves like these for the sake of scoring a mix up or a command grab.

  • Combo Scenario: cr. LP, cr.LP, qcf+LP (Light Punch Shooting Peach)

  • You’d probably wonder if it were possible to keep block strings going somehow with Nadeshiko on the loose.

  • Combo Scenario: Cross Up j.LK, st.MP xx(link)xx, st.MP, EX Shooting Peach

  • 15: 51 - We could also advocate using Passion Rope Toss, even at a further distance in the corner because the wall splat affect still takes place, regardless of the distance the opponent was traveling. Dash up forward+HP when possible in order to get a juggle.

  • 15:53 - Also… The R. Mika player attempted something far more elaborate. After forward+HP, R. Mika canceled into her V-Trigger. Nadeshiko splashed herself onto the opponent for a 4 hit combo. R. Mika probably could have gotten something else, after the fact and then finished the combo off in the corner.

  • 16:02 - Now it seems like EX Shooting Peach is punishable but the player would have to use a light normal… but… at the same time, it also looked like the R. Mika player was about to do something. It was not a counter hit but R. Mika looked like she was trying to back dash or jump away. I might be completely off base, though.

  • 17:53 - … LEL. Nadeshiko (above) and the slide hit almost at the same time…

  • Minor note… It seems a lot of Rashid’s special moves are very unsafe. Might be wise to just dash-up and command grab or get a decent combo after some of his special moves because if they are blocked, they send him flying a back a bit (dive kick for example).

  • Towards 21:00 We see another R. Mika player.

  • Combo Scenario! forward+MP~MP (Passion Rope Toss Forward), V-Trigger and then Nadeshiko (Back) into Wingless Airplane.

  • 27:15 - cr.HP seems rather safe.

  • Evidently, there are counter hits for whiffed reversals as well… which is… an indirect buff on R. Mika’s behalf (and quite a few other characters in retrospect) because R. Mika’s CH game is quite lethal. st.HK on CH terrorizes people.

  • EX Shooting Peach would also blow through badly timed projectiles at the mid range.

  • 39:18 - Decent sequence…

  • 40:10 - Case and point about EX Shooting Peach… (that looked painful).

  • Be cautious when trying to link normals into Passion Rope Throw because the latter move is not safe on block.

  • Impressive sequence towards the end against Bison.

EDIT:
Reviewing video…

EDIT 2:
Still Reviewing video…

EDIT:
Done…

From the lastest WSO stream Mika can combo into her command grab from crush counter.

On a side note, the start up animation on R. Mika’s Critical Art is just… invigorating…
You can even hear the sexy slapping sound effect at the point she smacks her ass!

@Great_Dark_Hero Yeah, that startup animation is way too good. I would probably just save my meter every round just to get that. It feels like you are telling your opponent ( I have got you, bitch ). Awesome breakdown on the video, cant wait to watch it.

I saw that and damn near had a heart attack of joy. The damage off that is sooooo good!

It is worth noting it was the EX Command Grab. Other grabs didn’t have the range.

I elect that R. Mika’s V-Reversal be given an exception in that it should be able to KO.

You can land a regular command grab if you dash in.

Really? Is it a tight link in that case?

Can’t say for sure. The player always managed to land the grab when he got the crush counter. We’ll know for sure when the footage hits YouTube.
