Don’t worry. I think it will pick up once the march update hits.
I also would attribute it to Mika just not being that complicated of a character. There will probably be a ‘definitive R.Mika’ guide once people more fully adjust to s2 and the possible March update at the end of the year. I think our main issue as a group right now is we have not really dedicated our groups focus to season 2 match ups as much. Plenty of tech stuff and nerf adjustment complaints/info sharing but not a lot of ‘how the fuck do I deal with Aegis setups’ type stuff. I plan to remedy that some but definitely needs to be a team effort (; I haven’t been working on it lately since I’ve been establishing my twitter some and working on a couple projects.) Once we get those discussions heated up I think there will be a lot more room for debate/conversation.
What do you guys feel about the Rashid matchup ?
It feels like a pain in the ass to me currently. It is not awful but he is so hard to pin down and his multiple corner escape options really put a spin on the usual Mika gameplan.
So in light of the recent results what do you guys think about Mika’s current situation overall?
We might be at a decent spot overall. Obviously she still does work in the right hands but she is public target number 1 as she used to be.
Well I am hoping Fuudo, Du, and Luffy’s high placed showings this weekend will induce a little more optimism over all. SFV tiers are really tight and R.Mika is a decent oki corner play mid tier monster. The only characters that truly deviate from the truth that ‘any character can win’ is Alex and F.A.N.G. which I was hoping would get rectified but over all, R.Mika? I don’t think anything /fundamental/ changed about her. At first I agreed with everyone that ‘she got a little more boring without her wall bounce’. But now after those hype Final Round finals? I am less inclined to agree. I don’t miss it nearly as much as I thought I would. But then again I am a boring Fuudo type R.Mika.
I will say that her changes forced me to improve other aspects of myself as a player like improving my shimmy game and working on my delayed buttons mixups.
I am loving that I get to super a lot more than I used to in season 1. I like the St. LP comboing onto TC. Overall she was undeniably stronger in S1 but I still enjoy her in S2 and she still get work done.
Honestly you see more bnbs out of her with the changes. In Season 1 it was either medium button into clap into corner or jab jab ex peach. If you knew those 2 bnbs you had a combo game with Mika. Interesting to see clap being used more for shimmies and as a reward for cornering someone.
It’s good to see people like louis cry over her changes while Fuudo almost won what is the one of 2 biggest NA events for CPT. If it wasn’t for Ibuki being the dark horse of the event he probably would have won. Even NuckleDu who has won the highest calibre event with her last year and others this year couldn’t beat Fuudo. If it was only NuckleDu in top 8 you could say Mika got carried by Guile, but a sole Mika main preformed even better
