Unless it’s changed in the final build, you can use hp peach to get in around max distance and it super plus on block. Enough to whiff a command grab due to blockstun.
I actually did a video on it showing a set up for the meaty, you can see mika jump several frames prior to the cpu dummy.
Messing around in training mode and found that mika can option select wingless airplane with st.lk. I’m not too good at explaining so I’ll make a video one I charge my phone up . Really good against people who like to neutral jump against her. I’ll test other things against backdash
Too lazy to edit the video but you can see the concept in the video. lk and mk versions of w.a will catch a neutral jumper but HK will not. It’s probably better to do ex version since it will catch people who are holding up back. Cr.LK is great cause it can catch back dashes. If it hits nothing will happen and you can continue pressure. If they jump the w.a will come out. I’ll test some more when I get a chance again. Hopefully get a real match recorded so it can be seen in action.
Nope, you can do it meaty like in the vid or near max range. It doesnt have to be perfect timing either. MAX range is best since you can set up ticks or counter hits. Near max range is safe, but iffy on how safe it is (-1,0, +1, etc)
Only problem is that lk is not meaty if they can jump out, so you might be able to be hit if they are mashing some fast lights.
Question to those with access to the game or cracked beta, does EX WA give significantly better oki or some other non-damage related bonus over LK WA? I’m looking at the numbers and I’m finding it pretty hard to justify using EX WA in combos from a damage perspective (except the kill of course!), it’s only 30 more base damage and that can easily go down to as little as 15 or less extra damage with damage scaling involved. For instance f+HP > f+HP > LK WA is 256 damage, f+HP > f+HP > EX WA is 280 and that’s really the best case scenario in a combo for EX WA. 24 damage is 2-3% of a life bar, for reference.
Feeling like we should be saving our meter for Super, EX SP for corner carry, or EX command grabs in general, unless there’s a kill incoming. Anyone have experience trying one vs the other so far?
Interesting idea but I feel like just training yourself to f+HP on whiff (for normal throw or general lights/mediums) will lead to better results. IMO f+HP, cr.LP, and st.HK are where the money is in situations like this, st.LK doesn’t lead into anything on hit without CH, and it’s not meaty if that OS would work.
I am more talking about EX WA exclusively in combos, as in, as an ender to a wall bounce or f+HP combo. Just not seeing the general point to using EX WA over LK WA as an ender unless there’s an immediate advantage (IE killing) to use it as an ender. Oki/setup would be the only thing.
I did not know it was fully invincible after frame 4 though, that definitely makes it a crazy strong anti-air.
Did they remove the midscreen wallbounce from Irish Whip again? In this video (Mika starts about halfway through), the player keeps going for it and the opponent falls down everytime, eventually he just gives up.
I feel like it would be worthless to remove the mid-screen wallbounce. Without it her mid-screen damage is ass and with the stuff they took out from beta 2 that she had I think in total it would make her actually terrible.
He tried the backdash a few times mid screen and it wasn’t working. Pretty big nerf if that is in the final game. Us Mika players will really have to work harder for our wins and really focus on pushing to the corner.
