Questions to Comics reader (mvc 3 related)

Hi to everybody.

So basically, I knew abit of the Marvel universe, but if someone could advise me some comics from heroes that are in MVC 3, I would be really pleased. Comics HAVE TO be recent - from the 90’s to now.

What are the best IronMan / DeadPool / Hulk series and from who ?
I heard Taskmaster comics was a blast, opinion ? Is it better than Moon Knight ?
Where can i find comics related to MODOK ?
Best Magneto / Storm / Wolvie / Sentinel / Doom / Dormammu comics serie ?

Well, if you reading up Iron Man…

-Bad Blood
-Kurt Busiek’s Iron Man vol 3.
-Extermis+ the entire volume 4 series
-Haunted
-Vol 5/Invincible Iron man +
-Enter the Mandarin
-Iron Man/Doom mini
-Iron Man:The End
-What if: Iron Man became Doom.
He is my favorite superhero to read about all time. If you are looking for MODOK…

Just Read Super villan teamup with MODOK, and Fall of the Hulks/War of The Hulk/whatever recent apperances he had then.

Thanks alot bro, i’ll probably purchase these at amzn.com.

My favorite super heroes are the one i listed here.
And I HATE Supaman/ Thor / Cap. America (too much cliché, not that interesting as a whole).

You should’ve posted this in the comic book forums, you’ll get more info there.

It’s usually best to read modern stories for characters. Note that collected stories come in either Softcover or Hardcover, Soft is usually cheaper, though hardcovers sometimes feature information and comments from the writer and/or author.
At any rate
Ironman-
Amazon.com: Iron Man: Extremis (9780785142591): Warren Ellis, Adi Granov: Books
Start with that book, then move onto-
Amazon.com: Invincible Iron Man, Vol. 1: The Five Nightmares (9780785134121): Matt Fraction, Salvador Larroca: Books
Matt Fraction is the current writer on Ironman, and although the art may not be all that impressive, he’s been doing a good job so far. So read up Vol. 2 if you liked his stuff.
If you want to read older stories, I’ll mention them.

Hulk-
Some will recommend reading the mid/late 80s series by Peter David, which has a very interesting take on the Jekyll/Hyde view of Hulk-
Amazon.com: Incredible Hulk Visionaries - Peter David, Vol. 1 (9780785115410): Peter David: Books
While I can’t vouch for the art, his work on the book is great. Peter David wrote more than, if not nearly 10 years of Hulk stories.
If you want some more modern stories (that have some pretty good action in them), read Greg Pak’s run, in the following order-
Amazon.com: Incredible Hulk: Planet Hulk (9780785120124): Greg Pak, Carlo Pagulayan, Aaron Lopresti, Juan Santacruz, Gary Frank, Takeshi Miyazawa: Books
Amazon.com: World War Hulk (9780785126706): Greg Pak, Peter David, John Romita Jr., Gary Frank: Books (This is optional; it has some neat fights, but the story overall isn’t all that. Furthermore, the art is by the famous John Romita Jr., but sadly his art on this book isn’t exactly his best)
Amazon.com: The Incredible Hulk, Vol. 1: Son of Banner (9780785142515): Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente, Ariel Olivetti, Michael Ryan: Books
Amazon.com: Incredible Hulk, Vol. 2: Fall Of The Hulks (9780785142522): Grek Pak, Jeff Parker, Paul Pelletier: Books

Deadpool’s an easy one, for one thing you really should read the books that collect his 90s series-
1- Deadpool Classic Vol. 1 and any later volumes
2- Cable and Deadpool
…and that’s it I guess.

Well this is a nice Taskmaster miniseries, the art is by UDON studios though. I can’t seem to find if it were ever collected in TPB format…

I don’t know much about Moon Knight but if you want, def. read-
Amazon.com: Vengeance of Moon Knight, Vol. 1: Shock and Awe (9780785141068): Gregg Hurwitz, Jerome Opena: Books
Amazon.com: Vengeance of the Moon Knight - Volume 2: Killed, Not Dead (9780785141075): Gregg Hurwitz, Tan Eng Huat, Juan Jose Ryp: Books
Here’s some classic Moon Knight if your interested-
Amazon.com: Moon Knight: Countdown to Dark (9780785148692): Doug Moench, Bill Sienkiewicz: Books

MODOK? Try this-
Amazon.com: Super-Villain Team-Up: Modok’s 11 (v. 11) (9780785119920): Fred Van Lente, Frances Portela: Books
That’s about the one MODOK story I can think of where he was a main character.

Well for Wolverine…
Amazon.com: Wolverine: Enemy of the State (9780785133018): Mark Millar, John Romita Jr., Kaare Andrews: Books
Amazon.com: Wolverine: Get Mystique (9780785129639): Jason Aaron, Ron Garney: Books
Amazon.com: Wolverine: Old Man Logan (9780785131724): Mark Millar, Steve McNiven: Books
Amazon.com: Wolverine: Weapon X, Vol. 1: The Adamantium Men (9780785141112): Jason Aaron, Ron Garney: Books and later volumes of this book.
If you don’t mind blood and gore-
Amazon.com: X-Force Vol. 1: Angels and Demons (9780785129769): Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, Clayton Crain: Books and later volumes.

The rest…is best to ask Sano about, he knows more @3@

…and Dormammu’s a bit of a hard one, since he’s popped up randomly from the series I’ve read, but the book he got the MvC3 outfit from is this-
Amazon.com: Defenders: Indefensible (Defenders (Marvel Comics)) (9780785117629): Keith Giffen, J.M. Dematteis, Kevin Maguire: Books
Word of warning…this is going to be very very very different and unexpected than your usual comics.

Cap being cliche’?
I may not have read many Captain America comics, but maybe you should first give the Ed Brubaker run a read-
Amazon.com: Captain America Vol. 1: Winter Soldier, Book One (v. 1) (9780785119203): Ed Brubaker, Steve Epting: Books
Great writing and amazing art by Epting. Even if you don’t like Cap after reading it, you’ll at least get a taste of Brubaker’s great skills.
…and Thor would like to say to thee
NAY

As far as Supes goes-
Amazon.com: All Star Superman, Vol. 1 (9781401211028): Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely: Books
Amazon.com: All Star Superman, Vol. 2 (9781401218607): Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely: Books
Supes’ a bro, why you’d hate a bro? =(

Mods if you want you can move this over to the Comic Book Forum instead of closing it. If not it’s cool. Up to you. This is from your friendly Neighborhood Comic Book Forum Mod dude.

Read All-Star Superman like Tizoc said. You’ll like him after that. You can watch the animated movie based on it for the cliff notes, which is really good but the comic is better. Then never read another Superman comic again. Semi-joking but there sure are a lot of bad Superman comics out there… Kingdom Come and The Nail are pretty good for not directly being Superman stories I guess.

Udon’s Taskmaster series has never been collected so you will have to hunt down the individual issues. He recently had a new series that was collected in a TPB that should’ve been out by now, but it’s insanely late. I guess check Amazon in a few months.

Tizoc got most of the Wolverine stuff already. You might want to check out Elektra and Wolverine by Greg Rucka also, just because of the Japanese vibe MvC3 has to it being made by Capcom and stuff. It’s a prose book, mostly words and very few illustrations. But the few illustrations are drop dead gorgeous. They are done by Yoshitaka Amano best known probably for Vampire Hunter D and Final Fantasy but he was also the main character designer of Gatchaman, Casshern, Hurricane Polymar, and Tekkaman IE a lot of stuff that wound up in TvC. So it’s like you’re reading MvC3 meets TvC if you check it out (kinda, sorta, not really…).

There’s a character in it that predates X-23 and is very similar without spoiling much. The live action Elektra movie is based on this story, but BOY did they mess it up… :wasted: - The Hand (same ones from that MvC3 background) gets mentioned and hey, one of Felicia’s alts is based on Elektra’s color scheme so there’s some MvC3 fan reasons to check it out.

Note that it was created in such a way that the words don’t always match the illustrations. That was done on purpose for an amazing reading experience - this is really hard to explain without you reading it for yourself.

Amazon.com: Elektra & Wolverine: The Redeemer (9780785109112): Greg Rucka, Yoshitaka Amano: Books

I can’t tell you why it is both a great Sentinel story and a great Magneto story without spoiling everything but definitely read New X-Men by Grant Morrison. The Omnibus was selling for reasonable prices at Amazon before, now I’m seeing it for $600 WTF? Probably cashing in on the suckers that go see X-Men First Class and want to buy something… Get in volumes if you can’t find a reasonable price for the omnibus.

Amazon.com: New X-Men, Vol. 1 (9780785132516): Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely, Ethan Van Sciver, Leinil Francis Yu, Igor Kordey, Tom Derenick: Books

Amazon.com: New X-Men, Vol. 2 (9780785132523): Grant Morrison, John Paul Leon, Igor Kordey, Phil Jimenez, Ethan Van Sciver, Keron Grant, Frank Quitely: Books

Amazon.com: New X-Men, Vol. 3 (9780785132530): Grant Morrison, Chris Bachalo, Phil Jimenez, Marc Silvestri: Books

Follow that up with Astonishing X-Men, the one where Wolverine got the outfit he wears in MvC3. IE Capcom likes it.

Amazon.com: Astonishing X-Men Omnibus (9780785138013): Joss Whedon, John Cassaday: Books

Oh and Thor got his MvC3 outfit from the JMS series so that’s another MUST READ for fans of the game. The live action movie used a lot from this comic, but JMS wrote the movie too lol! He even appears in the movie, the first mortal who tries to lift the Mjolnir in the flick.

Amazon.com: Thor Omnibus (9780785140290): J. Michael Straczynski, Marko Djurdjevic, Olivier Coipel: Books

There’s a lot of good Doom stories but I like the one where he fights Spider-Man because I haven’t mentioned Spider-Man yet except for my ‘Friendly Neighborhood’ reference. :looney: Doom’s not the main focus, but he kicks butt! And you get Doom without the four guys Capcom left out of MvC3 man later for them. :badboy:

Amazon.com: Spider-Man Vs. Doctor Doom (9780785101109): David Michelinie, Eric Larsen: Books

Storm’s a hard one since most of her best stories are in one X-Men comic or another. She’s not really in the Astonishing and New X-Men trades I mentioned though. I really liked her in the OG Inferno series though so you may want to look into that one I suppose. To be really spoiler free, she helps take down some big demon that I won’t name for now to not give things away. I guess maybe you can look at the series as “What would Storm do in a Devil May Cry game?” Eh I dunno… :clown:

Amazon.com: X-Men: Inferno (9780785137771): Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, Walter Simonson, Marc Silvestri, Bret Blevins, Jon Bogdanove: Books

I hope that helps! Any other characters let me know.

Thanks to you guys for all the efforts. I appreciate that. I’m taking notes and will have to save alot of money

Also guys, Is there some comics related to Chris RedField / Wesker (Resident evil) ?
Now I may be a little off topic, but about DC comics, do you know some good Joker’s related comics ?
What about War Machine ? and Cable ? Best of Spiderman ?

If you could answer these questions again, that would be “priceless” !

Chris Redfield appears in the best Resident Evil comic available in the US, which isn’t even made by the US lol! It’s the Hong Kong comic based on Resident Evil Code Veronica. Yeah I know, when most of us think of Hong Kong comics those crazy HK SF comics come to mind where Ryu and Chun-Li are married, Master Bison is Chun-Li’s dad, Blanka’s her brother and Ken is an alien (oh I am not making this stuff up…) but they actually do pay attention to Resident Evil’s actual story and it’s extremely close to the game. Chris of course has a minor role as he did in Code Veronica, but there’s an excellent flashback scene that shows the end of RE1.

Unfortunately, this series is really hard to find and the prices are jacked up at some places. I found volume 4 up on Amazon.

Amazon.com: Resident Evil: Code Veronica - Book Four (Resident Evil (DC Comics)) (9781563899218): Lee Chung Hing: Books

You’ll have a much easier time with the DC / Wildstorm stuff. Nothing great, pretty forgetable but nothing horrible either. I’m a little fuzzy on if Wesker shows up in either this or the Code Veronica books, but he probably does. Hard to remember. Oh and note that all of this is before Resident Evil 5, IE before Chris started taking steroids… :wonder: Anyway pretty much all of the older DC RE stuff is collected in the Fire and Ice book.

Amazon.com: Resident Evil: Fire and Ice (Resident Evil (Wildstorm)) (9781401223816): Ted Adams, Kris Oprisko, Lee Bermejo: Books

There’s one story I liked that had to do with cactuses carrying a virus. I just dig it because that’s my own little fan fiction story that exists in my head of how MvC2 Amingo came to life. :looney:

DC / Wildstorm did put out a new-er Resident Evil comic to coincide with RE5. It’s a side story with new characters, so no Chris or Wesker. Capcom confirms on the back of the first page of the single issues that the story is NOT OFFICIAL. See Capcom is very territorial with Resident Evil, it’s their baby / cash cow. They don’t really care if you think SF, DS and Mega Man comics are official or not. I still don’t know how they let all of those horrible Hollywood RE movies get made though… but they make a lot of $$$. Eh I liked the last one because of 3D blood splatter at least. :chainsaw:

Amazon.com: Resident Evil Vol. 1 (9781401226022): Ricardo Sanchez, Kevin Sharpe: Books

It’s a fun story and there’s some pretty violent images in there.

Not really a War Machine fan. My favorite James Rhodes story is probably Secret Wars, where he was wearing Iron Man’s suit! An oldie but a goodie. The cover for the MvC3 comic that came with the pre-order of the game is a mock up of the original Secret Wars cover, so there’s that. Anyway lots of Galactus, Doom and X-Men. This Marvel’s first big intercompany-wide crossover (their response to DC’s original Infinite Crisis) and it paved the way for all of the other crossovers. NEVER read Secret Wars II though.

Amazon.com: Secret Wars Omnibus (9780785131106): Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck: Books

Capcom made the Harvey Birdman game for the PSP and Wii and Harvey Birdman is connected to the Super Friends versions of the characters, at least in a joking way. So yeah at least Super Friends Joker is vaguely connected to Capcom… :looney:

The greatest Joker story is Killing Joke by Alan Moore. For reasons I can’t get into without spoiling.

Amazon.com: Batman: The Killing Joke (9781401216672): Alan Moore, Brian Bolland: Books

And if you want to sample around other Joker stories pick up this book. It has his origin story and the classic tale of the smiling fish.

Amazon.com: Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told (DC Comics) (9780930289362): DC Comics: Books

For Cable I’d stick to the more recent stuff. Messiah Complex, Messiah War and Second Coming. Note that Cable is one of the players in these major story arcs but aside from the Cable / Deadpool series already mentioned I think this is some of the best Cable material out there. The trade for Second Coming isn’t out yet so you may have to wait until at least June or so.

Amazon.com: X-Men: Messiah Complex (9780785123200): Ed Brubaker, Mike Carey, Craig Kyle, Chris Yost, Peter David, Marc Silvestri, Billy Tan, Chris Bachalo, Humberto Ramos, Scot Eaton: Books

Amazon.com: X-Force/Cable: Messiah War (9780785131731): Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, Duane Swierczynski, Ariel Olivetti, Clayton Crain, Mike Choi: Books

Amazon.com: X-Men: Second Coming (9780785157052): Mike Carey: Books

Spider-Man… From an MvC3 standpoint it’s a little tricky because he hasn’t been the guy in the game that’s working for the Daily Bugle for quite some time. Chris Baker confirmed he’s married in MvC3, but there’s not much ingame evidence of this in the game except for one line he says in the game about him being late and MJ’s going to kill him. He’s no longer married to MJ in the comics (long stupid story/retcon…) so for now, I’m going to stretch a little bit back in time, but still sticking to stuff that came out after 2000 so not too far back.

If you have nothing against prose books (all words and no pictures) Jim Butcher’s The Darkest Hours is one of the best Spider-Man stories I’ve ever read, hell one of the best BOOKS I’ve ever read. Spidey’s still married to MJ here, but teaching and not working for the Daily Bugle. It’s still a great read.

Amazon.com: Spider-Man: The Darkest Hours (Spider-Man (Pocket Star)) (9781416594765): Jim Butcher: Books

The above story does flow out of JMS’ (writer of the Thor comic and movie, all of the good Real Ghostbusters cartoon episodes and Babylon 5) ASM run but it’s not necessary for you to read his run first because it’s self explanatory. Still one of the greatest runs on ASM ever, even if it was plagued by a lot of editorial scrutiny. There’s five books in his ultimate collection. Here’s the first -

Amazon.com: Amazing Spider-Man by JMS Ultimate Collection, Book 1 (9780785138938): J. Michael Straczynski, John Romita Jr.: Books

Just me I liked Peter David’s run on Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man a lot more, but he was much more free to do whatever he wanted to do unlike JMS. I’m heavily biased because PAD’s my favorite writer though heh! Here’s the first volume, there’s 4 in total.

Amazon.com: Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Vol. 1: Derailed (v. 1) (9780785122166): Peter David, Roger Cruz, Michael Weiringo: Books

A fun one if you want a crossover MvC3 type of story is Spider-Man / Red Sonja. It’s one of the last romantic stories dealing with Spider-Man’s marriage before it goes bye bye. Covers by the late Mike Turner too (RIP). The TPB even features the original Spider-Man / Red Sonja crossover story from a Marvel Team-Up issue, back when Marvel had the Red Sonja license.

Amazon.com: Spider-Man / Red Sonja (9780785132103): Michael Avon Oeming, Mel Rubi: Books

Oh and if you just go by the alt costumes Spider-Man has in MvC3 then this becomes much easier. Read Civil War for his Spider-Armor suit. Awesome story besides. And if you read this you’ll understand what Captain America means in MvC3 when he beats up Iron Man and says “That’s for Civil War!”

Amazon.com: Civil War (9780785121787): Mark Millar, Steve McNiven: Books

Back in Black!

Amazon.com: Spider-Man: Back in Black (9780785129042): J. Michael Straczynski, Peter David, Ron Cliquet, Colleen Doran, Ron Garney, Todd Nauck: Books

The last alt suit he has is from the much newer Big Time arc. Here he’s way beyond married and he’s not working for the Bugle anymore, but it’s still a fun read and a good jumping on point for the newer incarnation of Spidey.

Amazon.com: Spider-Man: Big Time, Vol. 1 (9780785146247): Dan Slott, Humberto Ramos: Books

Of course if you just want to say TO HELL WITH ALL OF THESE CONFUSING ASS CHANGES lol check out Ultimate Spider-Man by Bendis, which is a reboot of the series and treats things like as if Spider-Man got his powers today and not in 1960 whatever. Only thing is that both the new cartoon and the new movies are going to based on Ultimate Spidey, but it seems that both will still be very different from the source material. Anyway MvC3 doesn’t seem anti-Ultimate-verse or anything given that -
one of the endings

Spoiler

The Ultimate version of Nick Fury shows up in Crimson Viper’s ending. It’s probably more of a nod to the movies but still

  • so maybe you can just treat Ultimate Spidey as an extremely early prequel of sorts to everything Spidey related in MvC3 or something like that… Available in single volumes but if you can go for the bigger book that covers more ground.

Amazon.com: Ultimate Spider-Man Collection - Barnes & Noble Edition (9780760761335): Marvel Comics: Books

Jeebus, that’s a lot of stuff, Sano:rofl:

Just to add, any Superman books written by Geoff Johns or Greg Rucka are worth checking out too. Those are the only other writers I know of who wrote some good Supes stories.

This is the book he’s talking about BTW-

Should be out now.

Mind you this isn’t a very easy book to get into due to the writing style. Furthermore, the art isn’t very good in some places. However this series of books are among the best X-Men stories ever written, so if u can see past the art, and get used to the writing style, you’ll really enjoy it.
Also NEW X-MEN= NEW-X MEN.
I JUST BLEW YO MIND, SON!

Just to add this book serves as a ‘sequel’ to Morrison’s X-Men, BUT it’s easy to get into that you can read this first before Morrison’s.
I wouldn’t recommend reading Warren Ellis’ Astonishing as it’s just…not as Astonishing as Whedon’s =/

Was going to recommend this book but I forgot =P
Great book with some godly art by Coipel <3

Hang on, I just remembered some good Doom stories
1- http://www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Four-Vol-Mark-Waid/dp/0785114866/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1305885802&sr=8-2
This collects the first 2 FF stories by Mark Waid, the 2nd featuring Doom, if you can’t get this book then try to find Fantastic Four: Unthinkable
2- http://www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Four-1234-Graphic-Novels/dp/0785158960/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1305885915&sr=1-1
A miniseries by Morrison with magnificent art by Jae Lee

It’s best if you get Vol. 1 of a series, and if you liked it, get the next book, and so on.

Aside from what Sano wrote there’s also-
Amazon.com: Batman and Robin, Vol. 1: Batman Reborn (9781401225667): Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely, Philip Tan: Books
Amazon.com: Batman and Robin, Vol. 2: Batman vs. Robin (9781401228330): Grant Morrison, Andy Clarke, Cameron Stewart: Books
Joker appears ‘eventually’ in this great series.
There’s also this book based on the Dark Knight movie-
Amazon.com: The Joker (9781401215811): Brian Azzarello, Lee Bermejo: Books

The Killing Joke is also collected in this softcover TPB, and would be more worth your money as it also includes stories by Alan Moore-
Amazon.com: DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore (9781401209278): Alan Moore: Books

the War Machine armor is usually worn by J. Rhodes, if you want some of his recent adventures in the main marvel continuity-
Amazon.com: War Machine Vol. 1: Iron Heart (9780785138273): Greg Pak, Leonardo Manco: Books

There’s this one non-canon WM story in black and white which I liked when I first read it, but I don’t know if u will.
Amazon.com: U.S. War Machine TPB (9780785108542): Chuck Austen: Books

Cable’s a tough one somewhat, but as I wrote previously-
Cable and Deadpool

Sano’s list is good too. Cable did have a series a few years ago but it isn’t anything great (it’s not bad but it may leave you with much to be desired).

With Spiderman you’ve got 2/3 ways to read him:
1- Start from the beginning by reading the first stories by Stan Lee, but these stories may seem outdated in terms of style but it’d help in seeing how the character starts out.
2- Read JMS’ run on the book, which is IMO, one of the best Spidey stories written.
3- Ultimate Spiderman is not set in the main continuity, but is non the less another great Spiderman book. It’s a take on a teenage Spiderman (note that he started out as a teenager when the character was first created) in a modern day setting (well it started in 2000, but you get the idea).
I wouldn’t call it a reboot though @3@, but it does take place in it’s own continuity (the Ultimate universe)

If you want to start with 1, get the Essentials books-
Amazon.com: Essential Spider-Man Vol. 1 (9780785109884): Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Sam Rosen: Books
Don’t let the selling price scare you, I’m sure you could find it cheaper in some other places:wasted:

If you want to start with 2, then Sano already linked to it.

Likewise with 3.

Hope we’ve helped. Now to see if I can’t find this HK RE series. Also, Sano, as crazy as those HK SF comics were, the SNK HK comics are prob. just as wacky.

Seriously, thanks again.
You guys are awesome !
Nah Tizoc, I’m not a fan of Mangas / HK Comics at all : this is just not my taste, but some are epic tho (GON, Berzerk)

Also, Sano you are from NYC, where Marvel & DC HQ are, so maybe you work over there ?

Tizoc - Hah I did call Morrison’s New X-Men Astonishing X-Men lol! Thanks. Fixed with an edit.

X-ecutah - Nah just a guy whose been reading comics since forever.

I’ve met a lot of guys that work for Marvel and DC though, and a lot of the time I catch them in comic book stores in New York city buying comics on Wednesday (the day new comics are put on shelves) like the rest of us. Marvel guys like Joe Quesada (but he’s in LA now on the entertainment side of things), Bendis, Fraction and DiDio of DC you can usually catch in stores buying stuff.

A lot of these guys are really nice in person. I always say something nice to them, even if I don’t agree with every decision they make. Still pound for pound I think comics are better right now then they’ve ever been. You just have to take the bad with the good sometimes.

Plenty of Marvel and DC writers and artists don’t work in New York anymore thanks to the technology where they can scan, E-Mail, PDF and fax a lot of work in. Some of them don’t even live in the United States. So yeah conventions are still the best way to meet a lot of people. Lol you can follow a lot of these guys on Twitter too.

To be semi on topic, Frank Tieri, who wrote the dialogs and endings for MvC 3 is one of the funniest people you will ever meet. Every other word that comes out of his mouth is a curse! He pitches story ideas to Marvel by saying, “This shit is gonna kick so much fucking ass!” I’m not kidding!

As someone who shares a distaste for more cookie-cutter heroes like Superman, I recommend reading Red Son. It’s basically ‘What If Kal-EL landed in Soviet Russia?’

Man, this thread is a wealth of information.

I just wanted to vouch for the X-Force series comics which i recently read. After getting a subscription on marvel.com’s site, I’ve been reading a lot lately and X-Force: Angels & Demons is by far the best I’ve read. Makes me wish Michael Choi would draw more Marvel comics.

Hey we are having a favorite comic book characters poll in the Comic Book Forum. Feel free to participate! Obviously any characters mentioned in this thread are eligible lol!

Thread has been moved to the Comics forums, where it will likely get much better answers!!

As you were, gentlemen!

Try some DC comics, I really love it.

Sandman, Scooby Doo are the best for me.
