Question about Bang the Machine

I’ve been waiting since 2000 to see it lol. Been here for a long time, seen countless Bang the Machine threads, always ends the same way sadly with nothing much happening and the thread just getting forgotten. In a time when arcades are dead it’d be nice to have it released so that the younger generation can see what it was like, and for the older guys to have something to remember.

i’ve never heard of this before, but if it’s a documentary about the arcade scene then yeah it would be cool to see. I remember being 10 and going to the arcade to see 10+ people playing MvC2.

emm… well, could someone of you give a briefing about what bang the machine is?..

Thks in advice =)

It’s a documentry on the fighting game scene. It follows certain pro players and their interaction with the scene itself.

Seriously how hard is it just to press a bunch of copies and send it to Netflix? Independent producers do it all the time :frowning:

Do you guys think it would be hella cool if some how Bang the Machine was put in with the EVO2k6 dvd’s as a bonus feature if you buy the whole set of the 2k6 dvd’s. Man they would sell alot of dvd’s i think.

I saw it in Tucson back in 2001-2002(?) and also at Evo2k5. After they showed it at 2k5 there was a brief press conference where they stated they planned to bring it to UMD and DVD later that year but I guess that fell through.

damn that sucks. At least you got to see it. what did you think of it? was it good, bad?

I would pay 50+ for this documentary

the “put it on evodvd for those who buy the whole set” is a good idea, but I doubt it will happen. I want to see BTM too!!! as well as the evo2005 inside evo documentary that shankar made I think. anyone knows something about that?

thanks.

this has become some holy grail shit
dying to see this shit

I bet it will just be dangled in front of us SF players for years, shown at EVO and other EVO events, and never made available.

…until the fandom really dies, and they sell it to make $$.

I’m not trying to be a dick (and I don’t really care to see it to be honest), but if current trends persist, I think this is what will come of BTM.

“Man, no one can beat my boy Valle” best line in the whole thing. But seriously I’d love a copy. One of the best showdowns ever came cuz of this documentary.

I’ve really been wanting to see BTM for some time now, but I can see why whoever owns the rights would be reluctant to release it, professionally at least. Apart from the hardcores here at SRK and maybe a few others, there just isn’t a whole lot of demand for something like this.

The EVO DVD pack-in is a really good idea. Hell, even if it was sold as a stand-alone disc exclusively at SRK I’m sure it would do moderately well. In any case, it might be a better option than seeking out a standard distribution deal.

Why not release it? I mean, if you’re making good money and giving back to fighting fans…what’s the big deal?
I’ve been wanting to watch this ever since I saw the trailer on YouTube, but there’s no way I’m driving all the way to EVO just to see it.

I would like to see it rereleased at SXSW if possible. But yeah an independent release would be the shit, maybe lease it to capcom to put with future fighting games? I know its never gonna happen but come on guys if Ed boon could do it with like 3 mediocre MK games then at least capcom could attempt to do it.

The documentary was pretty good, considering that it only represented a very small slice of the the gaming community, and definitely showed its biases. Tyram, go ask Spider-Dan about it, since the first 15 minutes of the documentary featured him. JSF productions even came out to TILT to film footage for the documentary. Luckily for me, I was there, and had an 80 win streak that day. Theres like 2 quick pan shots of it in the movie.

P.S.-
Spider-Dan had one of the greatest lines and looks on his face at the end of the movie…

that and Apoc’s flip and theme song. now that i think about it. That movie was Comedy plus.

is there any chance of BTM2?
