Apparently all Korean sticks share these same specifications:

So it looks like the stick will need 35mm or ~1.38" of clearance. This is encouraging… I agree that it would be very close, but most likely viable.

The actual mounting plate appears to be 83mm or ~3.28" wide on it’s long side in the image, and since the plate is only as wide as the stick on it’s short side (and the stick is square – videos on kowal’s youtube channel helped verify this: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=kkowal97) we can assume that the short side of the plate is 66.5mm or ~2.62".

Satek, I see why you’re apprehensive about drilling through the plexi and planning the mounting position of the stick. I’m thinking that placing everything where you normally would and getting as close as possible to this 83mm x 66.5mm dimension, and then drilling the stick’s hole in the plexi out to be as near to 35mm as possible (probably the same size as the buttons?, I can make the minor modifications to make it fit. Here’s a size comparison between the Sanwa and Korean sticks (in relation to kowal’s universal plate), basically confirming the above assumptions:

After weighing the pros and cons of each case layout, the original plan of going with this layout seems like it would be a great choice:

Hmm, I was thinking, how about I make one of my normal cases, but at 2.5" inches high for the internal clearance instead of the normal 2 1/8" I do.

Then since the holes align for the mounting, I can drill the mounting holes and such, so the only thing left is to make the hole bigger in the glass. By the way, I use lexan, which is a polycarbonate, so it might have a different result than plexiglass when you enlargen the hole.

That sounds great – do you think, with the extra 3/8" (9.5mm) of clearance it would be possible to run the 30mm buttons on the sides and front? I don’t have a problem going with 24mm if it’s not possible, but I figured I’d ask for the sake of keeping options open.

Murakumo’s stick may also have used lexan… I’ll ask him later today. Either way, I’d really just be melting the poly with the soldering iron so it should work out. Thanks for the heads up

If you do do that, why not make 28mm holes for the korean buttons too? :smiley: Then you could have an “authentic” Korean stick.

I know you’re “winding down”, but I have a set of Forstner bits ranging from 15mm to 35mm (in increments of 5mm). Would you be willing to set up some sort of trade?

Hey Satek, what do you have left in stock as far as your DIY cases? I was looking at maybe a DIY case with plexi top in a viewlix layout. I’ve ordered one of your cases before, and I wanted to see if I could get a hold of another one before you completely close shop.

Hey, thanks everyone for the interest.

I will not being take orders until after I have made them. This means that they won’t be customizable or anything.

I am doing this because I do not want to take orders and then take a long time to fulfill them.

And sorry to those of you that I haven’t responded to!

So basically, I’ll probably make a thread in the trading outlet if I make a batch and it’ll be first come first serve.

Edit: I have a 1.75" tall 6 button case with 3 24mm recessed holes and 1 neutrik USB hole in stock if anyone wants that. Normally, my cases are 2 1/8" tall, so I don’t know if a joystick will fit perfectly, but I can route the bottom panel to make a fit better. I only have it because I was making jdm a 1.5" case and accidently made it 1.75", so that’s where this one is coming from.

If you buy this case, it might be a risk as I have no joystick to test it out!
