FOREVER

LOL. forums are awesome for talking trash.

Exactly. Tell that to your homeboy. I was just giving my homies props, he flipped out cause he didn’t win. Yea you can talk that trash in here… Heck. I’d root for yall too.

ha, has my second place been caught up already

heh, actually of all the games i think ST can be the most random sometimes. at the highest skill and experience levels then it’s less random, but when non-expert players are playing (myself included) the game is so fast, the damage is so devestating, and the matchup details are so crucial… that any game can go either way sometimes. a missed execution, a poor decision, rusty play, heck almost any little thing can cost a round or even a match.

a player could be on a 15 game win streak and then lose the next game miserably to someone he just beat.

character and matchup knowledge, along with experience are the most important factors. of course execution is key too.

i think there are plenty of good players here in houston. of the players that still play i’d say crow and hitler probably have the most knowledge, experience, and skill. then there are at least 6-10 others that have really come along well and elevated their ST games. the only negative thing i see from my casual and tourney matches with all of the newer players is lack of experience and matchup knowledge, but everyone seems to know the basics and executes pretty well.

i know it’s hard practicing at PZ for most people because of the price, and i certainly agree that ST should be the least expensive of all the games. it’s the oldest game, and it’s over waaay too fast to be set at more than .50 cents a game. even .50 cents is too much imo, but that’s how it is. i suggest practicing at home by playing a shitload of matches with other decent players.

as for myself, i probably have the most experience of the players that still play here, but that doesn’t mean much since i hardly play anymore. it’s hard to come in cold and execute and remember the details of certain matchups.

thawk is my favorite character to play with(white), then deejay(yellow), then ryu(and always doo-doo brown).

if i’m playing business/to win, then it’s ryu 1st, then deejay, then thawk.

my opinions are pretty much standard, tiers are like this from top to bottom, but in no particular order:

  • dhalsim, balrog, og sagat

  • chun li, vega, ryu, bison,

  • ken, guile, blanka, honda, deejay,

  • zangief, thawk, fei long, cammy

even so, i’m a firm believer that any character is dangerous in the right hands, so play who you like and just get to be badass with that character.

ok, i’m out. peace.
Cmutt

i was just bored & needed to entertain myself :wasted:
i still want to buy custom af1’s from you some day

i am bringing extrahate on saturday

…and yeah no good console version of ST + 9-10 pzpoints per rape = i never practice ST except in weeklies matches
you still have any cabs for sale cmutt?

this fool here, you were in second for like 2 weeks. come back…urien = beast.

dez, why you all mad? beating me isn’t that hard…i think i beat you like everytime we play in tourney. get on my level :]

Makoto players don’t win tournaments (all the time)…we just make it exciting. LOL

and cbutt pwns.

I agree about the price. ST is fun, but I can’t justify paying that much to practice. Especially since I won’t win most of the time.

guile isn’t even in the 2nd tier list?!?!? He’s too good.

is 3s a team thing today?

edit : …and no idea why i posted that here

dee jay is underrated.

Yea, why being mad? at the end we are all a team we’re houston aren’t we??? and evildict is right makoto players not always win… a clear example is my buddy Alex that hasn’t beaten me in a while lol…

that’s why I love forums I can talk s**T…

st is too random

case and point… watch my finals match this past saturday against hsien.

hsien’s OG sagat vs my ryu.

couple of rounds there where i had the momentum, life bars were in my favor, and a couple of misjudgements, unneccessary risks, and screw-ups costs me the round and match.

og sagat can basically just sit back and pick ryu apart with tigershots while i’m on the ground, and anti-airs for when i try to jump in. my strategy is to get in and make the fight up close where i can negate his tigershots and try to put pressure on him with constant mixups. but that’s a dangerous game if you screw-up and make mistakes… which i did.

hsien plays a very basic og sagat, with very few mixups and tricks, so he takes very few risks and that makes it harder to get an advantage on him.

i normally play pretty cautious with ryu (depending on who i’m playing against), but against og sagat i don’t like to play the fireballs vs tigershots war. i’m not too good at that style and it’s no fun to me. so i choose to the gameplan of waiting for the right times, getting in, and then constantly attacking og sagats.

anyhow, my match was a perfect example of what i was saying in my post. ST comes down to knowing the matchups, and executing your gameplan. a couple of mistakes meant the difference between 1st and 2nd.

maybe i should’ve used thawk against og sagat, just to see if hsien would’ve known what to do, but that’s a very difficult matchup and i felt more confident with ryu.

well, not too bad for the rusty “old man” though.

heh,
peace

sup…long time no pwn.

cue the shit talk

Damn son, where have you been?

Why do I never play the games I actually sign up for?

I mean, I put my name down for Marvel, Gayguysxx, and ST. Granted I suck at these games, but still would like to play.

I only ask this because it’s happened more than once and I’d rather not sit around like a dumbass waiting for my name to be called when it’s never going to be.

And pass the word along to the owner: fix the Marvel sticks… seriously. They are so bad it’s making me just not want to go anymore.

Kthnx.
