Ok, the Guile match is a tough one to get down, but doing so will make you a better player. First of all, stop jumping. You should not be jumping at a Guile who is just standing or crouching there as he has several ways to blow you up. HK Divekick is -4 at best so he can flat out flash kick you for that, this player just didn’t know. That one dive kick hit you get in is a measly 40 damage. Booms alone do 50 and Guile has slightly more life. Just not worth it. It’s also impossible to jump and hit him with dive kick in response to a normal sonic boom, you have to already be in the air before he throws it. You can reaction divekick to ex sonic booms from the right distances but that should not be your focus right now. Unless you already have Guile knocked down, stay out of the air.
Guile is one of the few chars who can win a fireball war with Juri, but you can certainly put up a fight. Go into training mode and practice fireball stores to absorb sonic booms of all speeds. Practice this for at least 30 minutes straight, longer if you can. You need to absorb some of his booms with the stores, absorb some with medium fireball releases, absorb some with focus, absorb some with backwards counter (NOT forward), avoid a few by jumping straight up, block some, and slip low fireballs in to hit him. You will probably be storing both LK and MK fireballs at the same time a lot, so get used to it. Also remember that counter backwards builds meter and you take no damage, not even grey damage. The two keys to a fireball fight, in my opinion, are meter management and staying unpredictable. If you can put up a decent fireball fight against Guile (even if you lose) then you can do much better against the rest of the cast.
The next part is going to be boring, but it’s probably the most important: learn your normals, all of them. It looked like you were not at all comfortable with Juri’s buttons. Using a focus attack is not a replacement for pokes. Crouch MK, far standing MK, far standing LK, far standing MP are all good ranged buttons for poking. Stand LP has a good horizontal hit box too, great for poking people out of their moves. After you fight your way in through the fireballs you need to be able to use your normals effectively. Luckily, most of Juri’s are good. In close, crouch LK, stand LK, stand MP are good moves. Practice with all of her normals in training mode until you know their ranges by heart. Practice counter poking the dummy as it does moves. Check out the hitboxes on eventhubs.com and get familiar with them. If you find a move that someone does that you’re having trouble with, set the dummy up to do it, and practice countering it. Over and over and over and over. Learn that specific punish so you can do it without thinking. I did this for Guy’s elbow drop because that thing seemed too good. Turns out Juri can deal with it just fine, it just takes timing.
Combos. Learn some basic combos besides crouch MK -> pinwheel. Preferrably ones that start off fast/safe moves. Crouch LK x3 -> MK pinwheel is a good one to start with, easy to confirm off of a crouch tech. Crouch LK, stand LP, crouch MP/MK -> HK pinwheel is nice and easy but whiffs on most chars if they are crouching. Crouch LK, stand LK, crouch MK -> HK pinwheel is universal but has a 1-frame link. And remember your best punishment without meter or a fireball store is crouch HP -> HK pinwheel. Go check the Juri Combos thread, it has lots of punishes depending on fireball stored/not and meter you’re willing to burn.
Another important point: your anti-airs were almost nonexistant. I saw one crouch MP in the last match. You’ve got to practice anti-airs so you can do them every single time, because Juri does not do well under pressure. Freezing up is not an option. Crouch HP is good for closer jumps and some specific matchups (like Gen), far standing MK is good against Yun/Yang/Rufus divekicks and other far jumpins, and HK fireball is good for those godlike jumpins like Seth’s divekick, Sakura’s jump HP, and Cammy’s canon strike. Against Guile you probably just need crouch MP or sometimes crouch HP for the extra damage. Cancel them into fireball stores and optionally release fireballs for Guile to fall on.
Some good points: you did seem to get better during that video, in fact the last match looked like you had some kind of epiphany. There were a couple decent FSE showings, you did LK pinwheel in response to focus, you jumped less, you faked him out with counter back, counter back, counter forward ex pinwheel.
I would recommend you take these parts one at a time. Focus on getting good at one specific thing before you move on to the next. Hours in training mode is what you need to do. I’m on XBL so if you want to play some games just let me know - although I don’t have much besides my mediocre Juri and a meh Vega.
