^look at all that footsie pressure!
Alright axel. After watching you vs Ryu and Seth matches:
-Less random dive kick. More divekick to punish fireballs.
-Jump less, if you have to jump, consider j. mp as a reaction antiair. j. hk is good, but j. mp gives you the Korean air combo options (j. mp -> j. mp -> pinwheel/EX pinwheel/super/U2). nj. hk is good for air to air a la Chun-Li’s version of the move. It also works as a set up on some characters.
-I noticed you whiff EX fireball a lot, it’s a waste. If you have do that, at least make sure it hits for block damage.
-Kinda related, raw pinwheels are generally not a good idea. I know there’s the lk pinwheel->EX pinwheel trick, but even that can be risky when the opponent wises up. As with her other specials you have to be careful.
-You got to use c. mp and s. mk, especially as antiairs.
In general, while I do see a little improvement, I really feel the posts from here and here still apply, so read them again and keep at it.
oh hay guize.
SF25th LA:
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012
- AGE|SnakeEyez (Zangief)
- EG|Justin Wong (Rufus)
- AGE|Vangief (Zangief)
- JaycetheACE (C.Viper)
- ClakeyD (Ibuki)
- RZR|Latif (C.Viper)
- EG|PR Balrog (Balrog)
- DRS|Filipino Man (Rose)
So we’ve had a Gief vs Gief winner’s final. Now we just need a Juri in the finals for a tourny!
p.s. Grand Final between JWong and SnakeEyez was the longest Grand Finals I’ve ever watched. It got to the point where at 3am I was hoping for someone to end it so I could get some sleep.
I’m sensing some passive aggression here.

Oh hey! Oh yeah, SnakeEyez. I remember that guy! He was in this video:

yep, I went there Genki.
Edit: seriously though, this is the first time Gief has won a major, its kinda cool.
you realise that’s before he got buffed… again~ right? not particularly sure how that video disproves what i said about gief being very high tier either~
mad fail.
So good, makes me want to put on the game right now.

A. It was a joke, so of course it was a fail. The video is a year and a half old. I just wanted to show that Gief losing to Juri.
B. It’s the first time since buffs Gief has placed well, in a major, but limited tournament.
C. Snake didn’t run into a single bad match up in the top 16. And it wasn’t like he plowed through J. Wong, even with having the match in his favor. Snake had 1 5-5 match, against T. Hawk.
I fail to see where this proves Gief is running with Cammy, Fei and Seth. He is certainly in that B+/A- area (I would say B+), but that’s really where it ends imo.
I’m all for debating character matchups since you get into how different players deal with them and can adapt strategies into your own play style, but debating tier lists doesn’t really help anything. A few people say Gief is A, a few people say B+. Does that one spot really matter when the entire mid tier is borderline even? The tier list thing is fun but irrelevant, we know what character we picked.
gief got top 8 at evo 2011, gief won our last major and got top 8 the one before among other good placings so it’s not the first time at all. bar sagat and i believe seth and chun (debatable) gief doesn’t actually have *that many *particularly bad match ups. never said he was S tier though top of A/bottom of A+ (where i put him) is completely appropriate in my opinion.
What’s the matchup figures for Zangief-Dhalsim these days?

The same as the Gouki one afaik.

I meant won, not placed well. Typo.
I just had to post this up on iplaywinner
it deserved better than that measly spot it got on eventhubs. I do want to say that sometimes it’s not clear whether you are doing a regular or ex kasatushi, non-Juri users may find it even more confusing. I think setting the super bar to recharge instead of infinite would help this.
Good stuff, I hope you do more. I’d like to see a video of you teaching kasatushi cancels for dummies.
Hi there, here are some of my fights, hope you like.

The first two videos were recorded using Dxtory, the others with FRAPS in full HD.
I’m not confident using Juri’s U1 yet, but as I see many top players using it, maybe I should change as well…
See ya.

Fucking pristine first game.

A game of mine. I’ve been practicing switching from u2 to u1, but mostly because of how many ridiculous corner setups you get. The punish I do after bison’s ultra in this game is a fake crossup. I should have done more than just J.RH, C.Fierce xx Pinwheel but I was dumb :> (not used to u1 yet)

Not sure to which extend this is known tech (let alone whether it’s useful in the first place):

As you can see, I’m linking a c.LK (+5 on hit) into a c.MK (6f startup) which should be impossible. The way it works is that the first c.LK puts me at a distance where the 2nd only hits on it’s later active frames, generating extra frame advantage (a “mid combo meaty”).
It’s character specific and this particular case seems to have little use (as one might as well just use her 1f BnB which I don’t think is harder to link than this), but it might be useful for some other applications (making some other links easier, giving extra combo opportunities, whatnot) so I’m throwing this in here to spark some interest for searching / ideas / etc regarding a piece of fairly unknown tech.
And before anyone asks or thinks I’m a hardworking mastertechsearcher like HTX: No, this wasn’t something I actually worked for. I’m just very lucky.
I actually found it in this very match, and it was by hyper accident. It was laggy as fuck (see when I’m pressing j.Fierce; the 2 c.LKs after are because that’s how long it took for me to see it hit) so I just pressed random buttons… and then I was like, wait, did that just combo?
