Hello, I’m New To The Forums And I Wanted To Know What PS3 Arcade Sticks Work For PS2 Classics, I Have Capcom Fighting Evolution And My Brother Got The Tekken 6 Arcade Stick But, He’s Is Not Sure If It Will Work Since It Is Still Shipping.

It’s kind of random. Arcade sticks aren’t officially supported in ps2 emulation but sometimes some of them work depending on the latest ps3 update. The last time I tried out capcom fighting evolution my Hori RAP V3 didn’t work but my virtua stick high grade did, I think the ps3 firmware was version 4.5 then. I don’t think any of them are guaranteed to work but the VSHG has worked more often than not in my experience.

So far from what I known and other had helped with tests,
Older Hori Hrap 3 (cira 2008), the Sega VSHG, Toodles PCBs in VSHG mode and stick with a pad hacked Six axis & Dual Shock 3 board are confirmed working for PS2 titles on the PS3, this includes disc and download titles.

thanks, but does the Tekken 6 Stick work with PS2 Classics?

Darksakul already mentioned the list that he and others have worked with to compile that are confirmed to be working.
If it’s not on his list, it either hasn’t been tested yet (which means your mileage may vary), or has been confirmed that it doesn’t work.

Bottom line, though, I can’t say for sure, but wouldn’t count on it working. Especially since almost ALL Hori sticks never worked with PS2 games (both disc and PSN-emulated) on a PS3.

In other words, if you don’t have the older Astrocade style HRAP 3 OR a Cthulu PCB in your joystick, don’t count on that backwards compatibility.

(It may be just me but I was also under the impression that the earlier HRAP V3’s SHOULD work with PS2 games but I 'd have to plug mine in to confirm that… Don’t expect HRAP V3 Kai’s or the HRAP N3 models or Fighting Edge to work, though.)

Otherwise, all you can do is just test the joystick yourself.

Confirmed NOT to work with PS2 games on backwards compatible PS3’s – Mad Catz joysticks. Sony only released the backwards compatible driver code for Hori-licensed joysticks… and even then, it may have been only for that year or two (2009-2011) where people actually cared about having backwards compatibility on the PS3.

It never did me any good… I have enough Japanese PS2 games where I HAD to keep my PS2 consoles! It was easier (and much, much cheaper) to mod those than to try to get a Japanese launch PS3!

Don’t forget the Sega VSHG for the PS3.

Also encase anyone ask, the Teensy PCB (as a USB controller) will not work as the PS3 is patch NOT to accept Teensy because of jail break mods.

Thanks I Appreciate All The Advice!
I’m Kind Of Bummed Out Because I Wanted To Use An Arcade Stick For Capcom VS. SNK 2

You can; the easiest way is just to wire up any Cthulhu-based board inside (PS3 Cthulhu, MC Cthulhu, Chimp).

On a side note, why are you typing in a way that every new word in the same sentence is capitalized?

I Used To Do The Same Thing

I’m Not Really Into Modding And This Is Just A Habit I Got Used To A While Back…

So do ps2 joysticks using inpin have any issues with playing games like cvs2 on ps3? I have a hori t5 and ive been playing darkstalkers with it. Just curious, thinking about getting cvs2 to get some old school goodness going

I had little luck with Adapters being used with PS2 titles on the PS3.
Now with that said I didn’t get any info back from anyone else about the inpin and I do not use one myself.

Now that I think about it I should order one just to see how its like.

I’ve been using an inpin since laugh first started carrying it. I bought it since my pelican was on its way out. I’ve never had any issue at all. I’ve used it for Tekken mvc2, sf and guilty gear with no problem. I recommend it
